It's hard to say, at the end of the day they're all legends for a reason so there shouldn't be any certainties. There’s none of the current crop of heavyweights who I would fancy to trouble Peak Ali, Holmes, Lewis or Tyson.
Given a level playing field as far as training regimes and “supplements” are concerned I would stake a lot of money on any of the above being victorious over any of Fury, Joshua, Usyk or Wilder.
Some of today‘s fighters could stand up to greats of the past but not at Heavyweight I think.
Would be interesting to know if any of the posters talking up Fury and co. were actually alive when my picks were dominating the HW scene?
Cunningham put Tyson over! So there's always a possibility a raging, peak Tyson who was a force of nature puts him over for good and he's the quintessential finisher. But it's a massive size difference, that's a problem as the fight progresses. I don't like Mike if he doesn't get it done early because Fury will be leaning all over him, sapping his energy. 2 different weight classes really.
Lewis and Holmes have a chance due to their great jabs. They're snappier than Tyson's. But I'd lean more towards Lewis having a far better chance due to size. I think Larry is a bit small to be winning a jabbing/ranged battle. So he doesn't really match up well in my opinion. Whereas Lewis was very rounded, more fluid than Fury, just an expert boxer puncher. I think he's one of the few in history with a chance to pick up the rounds against Fury and he also has the power to end it.
I don't really like Ali's chances, once again due to size. I can't really envisage a way that it's a good fight for him.
I think the biggest threats are Lewis, and prime Vitali Klitschko. There's a common theme there. Size, and boxing ability so that Fury doesn't have any big advantage in the fight.
