The RedCafe Boxing Thread

Bellew is the biggest winner here, he's beating a cash prizefighter and destroying him over and over due to injuries.

He says he hates Haye but he should love the fecking guy.

What is next for Bellew now? A fight with Whyte should be in the cards IMO.
He has no reason to take the Whyte fight. He’ll lose and it’s not worth the purse. He should retire as well - he’s made his money. Usyk and Parker will both beat him.

I guess the Tyson Fury fight is possible.

Hard to tell if Bellew has improved or Haye was just that bad, bit of both I think.

Haye's leg clearly isn't proper though, he was not putting any weight on it all fight.

He needs to jack it in now, he's made a bit more for the retirement fund but nobody else will pay to see him.

It’s done mate, fight over.
At least I didn't pay for it I guess. Sad days if Haye is losing to Bellew though. He used to be exciting and explosive, years back:(

Haye hasn’t conned anyone. He was given cannon fodder opponents and built up by his team, anyone with any boxing nuance would tell you he’s a poor, poor fighter. Remember when he tried to make out like Monty Barrett was going to be some sort of mountain to climb, Jesus. Flashy guy, good on the mic, shit boxer then shit boxer now.

I backed haye ffs. Honestly did not see this happening. He's done. Too many injuries. Hope he never fights again. Shite

Isn’t he on about dropping down for cruiserweight fight. Is there one of those cruiserweight tournaments at the moment

That’s just nonsense. He was the lineal cruiserweight champ and one of the biggest punchers in boxing in his prime. He had speed, skills and power. He wasn’t really big enough to succeed at the very highest levels of the HW division but his ability was excellent.

Do you really think that those 2-odd million that watched him smash cannon-fodder on Dave knew that he was a poor fighter? Nope, they thought that he was the same old David Haye (who for the record has never beaten a decent HW in his career).

I doubt he'd fight Tyson. He's not that stupid.

Yeah, Usyk will probably win it. Bellew has shown interest in that fight previously but I don’t see Hearn letting him go into that fight given the risk vs reward.

He used to be a very decent boxer pal.....yeah he’s past it now and his body can’t do it, but saying he was a shit boxer back then is just wrong

dont think that is fair, he isn't a poor fighter or at least wasn't. The problem with Haye has always been his injuries, ages has definitely caught up with him as well which has played a part. A prime Haye could beat anyone at cruiser weight and was a match for anyone at heavyweight. if you take Haye from when he returned to the ring in his second stint, then you may be able to say he has been extremely poor but the haye in his first stint was a completely different fighter all together.

Well, he stands a good chance against Whyte (Whyte is favorite obviously) and the purse should be quite big too. If he wins, he then might get a chance against Joshua for a retirement fight.

Fury would be a good fight for him. Obviously, Fury would toy with him and then send him to sleep, but at least he would get a very large amount of money.

My biggest disappointment with Haye was his cynical matchmaking and him chasing BS fights that paid well. His stint at HW was majorly disappointing.

He didn’t want to be a great fighter, just a rich one.

Have an exciting fighter? Sure. A good one? No chance. I don’t have to go near his boxrec to tell you that that vast majority of his opponents had very mediocre/above average at best KO ratios in terms of total fights. He was well matched and great on the mic, aswell as a very good looking guy.

I don't know much about boxing but why does everyone hate Bellew? He's coming across really humble post fight.

Yep.

He should have stuck to his original plan of retiring at 30. He relied on his speed too much rather than a combination of speed and brain. Add up the injuries and he was always going to struggle.

I lost all respect for Haye when he decided to retire thinking he was some boxing god....made himself look like a right cnut firstly coming back cause he needs the payday and secondly because he’s been battered twice by a mediocre scouser.

His performance against Valuev was his career highlight, but do you remember how much Valuev got built up? It was like Haye was taking on Thanos.

Turns out I was right not to trust him.
I won't forget what a great cruiserweight he was but he should have never come back
Bellew is not in his class and yet beat him easily.

Bellew fought really well, full credit to him He would be mental to get in a ring with Ward though

Haye was a top fighter but he’s completely shot and you could see it from the first round. His team must have known... I even had my suspicions after the 30 seconds of sparring footage he tweeted the other day.

He used to be slick and fast... now he’s clumsy and slow... lots slower than Bellew even. He’s barely 10% of what he used to be. Embarrassingly bad.

Why? A lot of money to be made, and has a massive size advantage.

Is Ward coming out of his retirement though?

agree with that, i was hoping from the live sparring that he was just going through the motions and not giving much away but it seems that it wasn't the case. I do feel for Haye in some ways, the best part of his career has been took over by injuries, he never was going to beat the likes of klitschko because of the physical advantage he had but anyone else in the division at the time i would have backed haye to beat.

Why? Well mainly because Ward would wipe the floor with him.
Bellew and hearn have done a good job earning him some British money, a better fight would be whyte or Chisora, Probably earn him more money and less risk too imo

Chisora still getting paid to fight? fecking hell he must have about 10 losses that shitter.

Thanks for this!

I used the top one on the link posted above. Took me three attempts for it to work but the stream is 10/10 now it's up. Really great.

Ok watching it now. Well waiting for it. Expecting it to be absolute shite like last time.

Anyone have a decent stream? can't get one?

See above

Haye looks huge

Good man

Got it. Thanks

Awesome, cheers

What? Why did I miss something?

Edit: did you post a stream or something? I watched it on box office, but didnt pay a penny as I work for Sky. But I will remember your kindness come the end of the year!

Bellew isn't daft enough to get in the ring with Whyte, he'd get a serious beating. He was asked about whyte in the ring post-fight and sidestepped it....calling out ward and a few others instead

Think I quoted you by mistake :p

One last pay day for Haye, as a Haye fan it was tough to watch him out there and unrecognisable

He took the whole world for a laugh with his latest performance, clearly he was injured or just not up to the task with his body
