Even the Klitschko brothers aren't all that. There are no real classic fighters out there at the moment.

It's a mess the heavyweight division, sounds like Haye and the Klitschko's are going to retire in less than a couple of years and when that happens... well Audley might be able to win a world title.

my girlfriend has gave me more blows than Harrison threw

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Haye gotta step up and show it in a proper fight, stop ducking the Klitchko's Haye.

Don't think Haye is ducking them though is he? I mean he's been after them from day one but they don't seem bothered. Haye always said he doesn't want to stay in boxing long and get slurred speech, he wants to clean up and get out, like he did the weight below. They seem to not think he's earned/worthy enough yet.

Shame, they could do a massive fight at Welmbley, Old trafford, Emirates or anywhere but they don't seem up for it. Money issues probably. As Hayed said tonight, "who wants to see Audley fight or these fat American bumbs coming over for a pay day or them fighting the same old boring names like Rahman".

Haye's just said he had lots of friends and family with money on the third, no wonder he didn't do much in 1&2!!

Yep, he seemed serious about that too!! Said he didn't want to let them down as they had money on it.

He's just said he'll fight one of them next year after they've done 'fighting fat American's for a payday', if he doesn't step up and do it then he'll always be known for dodging the real fights imo.

He's been after them from day one though. Clearly he'd do the fight or be willing to go over there to their back yard and fight as he proved when he won the Cruiserweight title in France or went over and beat Valuev.

Haye's been very vocal about wanting them, the only thing he's asked for is 50/50 money and the Klitschko's want 60/40 or even 70/30 depending on who you believe.

 not even then

I said might.

When this fight got announced and boxing fans were kicking off about Haye's choice of opponent... well, that spectacle is the reason why. Still, I honestly didn't think it'd be that much of a mismatch. Ridiculous.

And round 1 may just be the worst round of boxing I've ever witnessed.

To be perfectly fair, all fights should be 50/50, there's two of them in the ring and that's all that's relevant for me. I don't care who's champion or who is the 'bigger name', there's two blokes fighting so split the money square, end of.

Haye hasn't a notion of putting anything on the line against the Klitscko brothers. He'll fight Briggs next follow that with fights against one or two nobodies & then call it a day.

Nah, Haye needs to fight the Klitschko brothers more than they need to fight him. He should agree to 60/40 if that's what it takes.

Yeah maybe. Thing is though t 50/50 would be about right, I mean whilst the Kitchkos have a belt or two each and are longer reknowned at that division, Haye has held all the belts at the weight below and has all the publicity, attention from UK and is seen as the more exciting fighter on the scene. Its not like they could only have the fight in a stadium in Germany because only they are big names, over here they could pick any venue for this fight also.

Its like Manny v Floyd, in this division its the fight everyone wants to see but there are issues. Don't think for a minute Haye doesn't fancy it, he's dying for it. Both of them from what I can tell. Haye should just fight one of the names they have recently but do it at Wembley or something huge and batter them, then they'd have no choice, pressure would be really on.

Apparently he was offered 50/50 to fight Wlad Klitschko with no rematch clauses - or something close to 50/50 anyway - but there was some issue with Wlad's German TV contract so Haye pulled out.

To be fair, while Haye owns one of the belts, Wlad is the champ. When you're the main man in the division it should be your right to call the shots in negotiations. Haye wants 50/50 down the middle when I don't think he really deserves it.

Anyway, bring on Pacquiao-Margarito later tonight. Entertained the prospect of this being quite competitive but as the fight draws closer I reckon it's just gonna be Margarito punching thin air and blocking combinations with his face til someone decides to stop it. Gonna bang some money on a 10th round stoppage.

I can't see it going that long, i'm going for the 7th.

Is this bloke that Pac facing any good? Might watch it.
Used to be one of my favourite fighters. Not particularly polished or anything, but he throws a silly amount of punches and can take a ridiculous amount of punishment without being hurt. He's never in a dull fight, put it that way.

But he got caught trying to load his gloves and it puts in doubt a lot of his achievements over the last few years.

That would be an incredible fight, shame it'll never happen.

And that is why boxing is such an annoying sport, it would be one of the all-time great fights. Wouldn't want to call it mind, I'd guess Mayweather if pushed.

dont know how anyone can watch this shower of shite anymore that was one of the most embarrassing fights ive seen ufc from now on benn saying it for years

Not at heavyweight Mike, but there are still great fighters out there, just a real lack of depth compared to yesteryear, not to mention the difficulty in actually getting the best fights made. Manny would have been a great in any era, and as much as I hate him Floyd is an all-time great in terms of talent if not accomplishments too. We're not too far removed from the JMM, Barrera, Manny and Morales era of featherweights/junior lightweights, and even closer to the epic Rafael Marquez-Israel Vasquez wars. Then you've got the likes of Katsidis and controversy aside Margarito - not all-time greats by any stretch but incredibly entertaining, blood and guts fighters. Up and comers like Gamboa, Juan Manuel Lopez, Brandon Rios etc too.

Its not a golden era of boxing, but there's still the odd gem out there if you can endure the dross, the constant letdowns and the politics long enough to sustain an interest.

Have to agree with that, Mike, there should be some kind of system whereby they can't avoid fights. A set rulebook regarding drugs testing etc, a 50/50 money split in all fights and if a fighter tries to dodge a certain opponent he doesn't get any more sanctioned fights until he goes through with it.

Dunno, it took Mosley 9 and he's a massive puncher. I reckon Pacquiao will be on the back foot for most of the fight and won't be loading up big shots or planting his feet too much.

But hey, I'm probably wrong. Not sure if Margarito's punch resistance will even be the same as it was, to be honest with you. 2 of his last 3 fights are the sort that can change you as a fighter. He ate power shots all night against Cotto and Mosley beat the living shit out of him.

Why do boxers these days always go on about retirement, is it that they actually think we care if they do or not?

For all that people dislike Dana White, from a fan's perspective its difficult to knock the UFC model. Forgetting about the elephant in the room that is Fedor, in MMA the best fights do tend to get made, you actually get undercards that are worth watching, and deserving fighters do get title shots.

How anyone would go about unravelling the mess that is boxing politics is beyond me, but the corruption and general chaos is killing mainstream interest in the sport.

I'm not sure about the 50-50 split in all fights though. I see the appeal but it doesn't seem realistic or even fair. Its kind of analogous to every Premier League player getting the same wage.

I'd probably equate it more to every team getting the same share of the TV money, seeing as teams compete against each other rather than individual players, and even then it's difficult to really draw a direct comparison. Over the course of a season Sky will no doubt see that matches including United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool will draw bigger viewing figures than the likes of Wigan v Stoke. In boxing it's a single event and you can't just say that 80% of the audience are tuning in to see one fighter. Even it if may be true, the viewing numbers are for that event, and so both fighters should take an equal share.

It may be a somewhat idealistic view, but that's my opinion.

Interesting point for sure. It would sure as feck make negotiations less tortuous, and maybe make the bigger fights more likely to happen, as the big money would then be in the biggest, highest grossing fights, rather than a top fighter demanding a 90-10 split to fight a tomato can.

Heh, some complaints over wraps going on apparently
