Must have been a serious purse for Frampton to head straight into a rematch. The Las Vegas fight could have been available with almost anyone else. Got to hand it to him, he's hell of a fighter and one of the few that take challenges on. Bloody top bloke too.

Great fighter, and one of the best p4p alive. Not afraid to fight anyone (except Rigondeaux).

James Degale vs Badou Jack - Jan 14th in Las Vegas.

Keith Thurman vs Danny Garcia - March 4th
Two great fights. DeGale and Garcia to win. Never have been impressed with Badou Jack, Groves wasn't a million miles away and DeGale has gotten an awful lot better.

In fairness I don't think he's scared of him. He's basically come out and said no one is arsed about watching Rigo. I think he's telling the truth there really, he's taken risky fights and is doing so again. Rigo is horrible to watch and no one is really that arsed bout paying to see him. Most opportunities he's got to impress and entertain he's bored everyone to death.

Did he not say 2016 was a 40 million dollar year for him? Pretty sure he said that at the last press conference.

He also said " we shut down the whole mall" when they were in Toronto promoting. I was there, people were walking in and out of the Apple Store wondering who the feck he was. I think half of what he says he made is probably more accurate.

Haha, probable. I was just going off of what he said but he could've been saying that to get under other fighter's skin.

Hopefully we will see a rematch of Porter-Thurman in the near future too, one of the fights of the year for sure.

True, Rigo also isn't a massive draw. I do think he definitely beats Frampton, though.

He had a share of PPV as well so probably made closer to 8-10m. Regardless, the point stands that its certainly trending towards a shift in money, and it probably already has shifted in terms of popularity, this forthcoming event will only cement that.

I don't think the heights of UFC can ever reach the heights of boxing. Just look at Mayweather's numbers. There's nothing that can capture the imagination (and cash) of the "casuals" like an old-school dust-up of Queensberry Rules.

The politics in boxing aren't ideal but it could be argued that the simmering of fights when they don't get made only leads to greater revenue when they finally do, such as May-Pac. How many mega-fights can actually be made in UFC with the best always fighting the best? As I've only bothered taking a small interest in McGregor's big fights over the last year or so.

I don't think any UFC event will ever generate 9 figures for a single competitor, but I do think its not too long before theres simply more money and interest in the UFC.

Yeah he probably could. He really just does himself no favours Rigo. He's gone to points against some fighters he could of easily knocked out, shame really.

Re the UFC stuff, I agree the UFC has more of a buzz about it at the moment and who knows where it'l be in 30-40 years time. I think at the moment it has more going for it than boxing. A lot of boxing fans are "older" generation, once they go if the UFC keeps the buzz post McGregor/Rousey it would be closer than it is now.

It all depends how the UFC markets it's current fighters outside of McGregor and Rousey though cos the reality is there isn't a great buzz for any other fighter in the UFC...none more than there is of someone like Golovkin or Canelo for example.

Another routine victory for AJ here I'd suspect. Really is a shocking lack of depth in the heavyweight division though.

Part of me kind of feels sorry for them, they tried getting Wlad (which is apparently happening next year) and also Pulev so have had to fall back on this. Of course part of me disputes whether they were anywhere near Wlad and it's just Hearn's usual bullshit to make it look like he tried getting these top fights, really knowing they never stood a chance. If it was a Sky Sports card I'd actually think it wasn't that bad, for Box Office it's stupid. The only interesting fight there is Yafai. The Chisora Whyte fight will be terrible.

That's my take. Eddie knows what he's doing, I mean he's the most influential mann in British boxing. Joshua isn't ready and he knows it. He'd never expose Joshua to that risk but he just wanted to hype the fight. It'll come though when Joshua will be ready to fight the real names as few of them as there are at the moment - he still has time for those yet.

It's PPV shite like this that's killing boxing.

Yeah it is stupid, worst part is people will pay for it so I can see why it's on box office. If they just put it on Sky Sports and milked the fact they had put it on "free" TV (despite fact you have to pay for Sky Sports) it would be a decent card and I'd probably think fair play to them, it's a tune up fight basically. I do wonder how long people will be on board with being happy with paying for Joshua fights. I suppose Tyson got to the late 20 number in fights so there's probably still a good bit of mileage in him really.

Yeah I'd go along with that. He talks about these names but realistically Joshua won't be fighting them any time soon. He does have potential and it is to soon to be talking about fighting top fighters probably but then they choose to basically hand him a world title and with that for me you have to fight good opposition.

Yeah it really is a joke, it will do nothing for boxing. No new fans will catch it cos they won't pay for it, I doubt many current fans pay for it. It's stupid.

More shite in heavyweight division, Shannon Briggs is fighting Lucas Browne for the WBA Title.

Boxing, especially the heavyweight division, is an absolute joke at the moment. Too many belts, too many politics, too many duckers. People will lose interest in it.

When is Joshua going to get in there with somebody who's actually worthy of a 'world title' shot? His best wins have came against an inexperienced Whyte, Charles Martin who was awful and Breazeale who was an absolute joke with no defence. Joshua is a paper champion. So overrated. Eddie Hearn and Sky sports are going to milk him as much as they can.

I thought he was going to fight David Haye?

I thought he was going to fight David Haye?

He kept calling him out and Haye basically ignored him which lead to Briggs saying he was "scared." Now Briggs has got this title shot...funnily enough I reckon he has a small chance of beating Browne. If he does I bet Haye will be begging for the fight then. Whole thing sums up the mess that is heavyweight boxing.

Incidentally Briggs has done nothing to deserve a title shot at all and has basically talked his way into it. He's not beat a legitimate boxer in 10 years and nearly got seriously injured vs. Vitali Klitchsko. He's probably lucky he didn't fight Haye cos to be honest I think Haye would do some serious damage to him.

I thought he fought on Haye's undercard on the proviso that Haye would fight him next. It obviously fell through!

Yeah he did mate and that was the plan. I dunno why it hasn't happened or anything it kind of just got ignored by Haye and then Bellew was calling him out and everyone just forgot about Briggs.

If I had to guess and a few people seem to share the theory is that there was bigger fights for Haye than Briggs that would make him more money. He was rumoured to want a fight with Joshua then that never came about and he was rumoured to want a fight with Bellew or Bellew wants to fight him.

Haye, in his defence, probably isn't ducking any of these people. Bellew and Joshua are huge pay days and he'd definitely fancy his chances of beating him. Briggs is a good day and probably an easy night as well. Haye is currently going through a divorce though and apparently once that is sorted he'll agree his next fight as he will just give 1 big pay off to his wife and then make a big pay day with a fight vs. Joshua or Bellew.

The Bellew stuff is funny cos they're meant to be quite good mates. It seems both helping each other out to get a massive pay day within the next 12 months, both have nothing to lose either. If Bellew goes up and loses he's not a heavyweight anyway. If Haye loses he'd get the big money fight he wanted and still has his pundit job.

In the event that Briggs manages to win, Haye and Klitch could well be stalking him around the globe chanting "Let's go Champ!"

I can't believe all this negativity on here regarding Joshua. The man is the best heavy weight prospect since Mike Tyson. He's fast, has got superb footwork particularly for such a big man and has devastating power. Joshua is a beast. I'm having none of this he isn't ready crap. If he fights Wlad he'll destroy him.

Anybody watching Pacquaio vs. Vargas tonight? Could be Manny's last fight if he loses.

Manny has transformed from being an athletic freak of nature to just a very very good boxer. I still think someone slick would give him problems, like Crawford. Still want to see that fight though.

Gotta love that trash talk Khan and Brook throw at each other. Khan calling Brook, Kelly Brook and Brook responding with Amir Kardashian.

And yet they'll probably never fight each other. Or will win 1 is well past their best and what could of genuinely been a hugely interesting fight for British boxing ends up being another damp squib because of "politics"

If Chisora can be arsed with the fight which he seems like he is I think he'll beat Whyte to be honest. Also wouldn't surprise me if somehow Hearn manages to turn it so the winner ends up fighting Joshua.
