I just got done watching Pavlik/Martinez. Great performance from SM, Pavlik was coming on in the middle rounds, up until he suffered the second cut. I'm just happy that they didn't screw Martinez again.

I haven't seen Bute/Miranda (can't find a download), but it went as expected. Miranda always falls short. He's also an asshole.

Has Valero murdered his fecking wife?

WBC lightweight champion is recess Edwin Valero was arrested this morning by members of the Carabobo State Police on suspicion of murdering his wife Carolina Finol Viera. According to the Staff of the Scientific, Penal and Criminal (CICPC) it was reported that Mrs. Valero died of multiple stab wounds and that Valero is the alleged perpetrator of the act. The incident occurred at a hotel in the city of Valencia. Valero, after being apprehended, was taken to the General Command of Police of Carabobo.

Wilmer Flores Trosel, CICPC director, has announced that lightweight world champion Edwin Valero admitted guilt in the murder of his wife early this morning in Valencia, Venezuela. According to police, Mrs. Valero had three stab wounds on different parts of her body. The wounds were not deep and police didn’t find a knife or razor in the room. Investigators hypothesize that the crime occurred during a fight. The couple had checked into the hotel at around 11:30PM last night. At about 5:30AM, Valero went to the hotel lobby and confessed to hotel staffers, who called police. Valero was taken into custody without incident.

Christ.

fecking hell. Poor woman. He'd been arrested for beating her up about a month ago, and he's got in trouble for punching his mother before too. I loved watching him fight but it sounds like he's a nut job who should have been locked up before this even happened.

Looks like he's topped himself. fecking hell.

Venezuela - It's being reported in Valencia that Edwin "El Inca" Valero took his life in the early morning hours in the cells of the Carabobo Police. Valero was arrested on Sunday morning for the murder of his wife.

The head of the CICPC, Wilmer Flores, said the fighter was hanged in his cell in his own clothes and the body was spotted by another inmate, who gave notice to police officials.

Flores said that when the Valero was found, officials said he still had vital signs but they could not save him.

Andre Berto = PE#1 right now what a dumb thing to say!
Andre Berto caught in Valero storm | Boxing FanCast

WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto could be in for a hard time after getting caught up in the furore following Edwin Valero murdering his wife and then committing suicide.

Speaking on his twitter page Berto said,

R.I.P to Edwin Valero after killing his wife yesterday he just killed himself in jail today. WOW women are a Motherf***er boy RIP E.V.

Immediately the tweet was greeted with backlash from his followers with one saying, “I honestly am blown away by the ignorance of Berto.”

Berto instantly explained his comments,

“YO YO relax people relax I don’t know what happened with Edwin Valero and his wife I just feel its a sad day he was a great fighter… Its terrible he killed his wife and killed himself the situation was prolly a lot deeper behind closed doors but R.I.P. Edwin Valero.”

But the damage may have already have been done.

Berto had been in the public eye recently following the earthquake back in his home country Haiti where he lost family members but any sympathy felt for him could evaporate with this ill timed and poorly thought out comment.

Valero dead wtfff... Just read it now, great loss..still in shock.

Following his outclassing of Shane Mosley on Saturday, Floyd Mayweather was asked about a bout with Manny Pacquiao to which he replied if he (Pacquiao) takes the blood test then there will be a fight.

Ladies and gentlemen I suggest you start booking your flights and hotel rooms as Manny Pacquiao has backed down from his previous stance in an attempt to resurrect the abandoned fight.

Pacquiao had previously claimed he would only undergo Olympic style testing if the cut off date was 24 days before the fight but this morning on his official website, mpboxing.com, the WBO welterweight champion said:

“I am willing to help the sport for the future of the sport. I do not want to see anyone cheat or cheat this sport. For that reason I am willing to consider taking blood as close as 14 days prior to the fight, as long as, my opponent does the same, and it is not a lot of blood, just enough to test, I do not want anyone having an unfair advantage where someone may get hurt. I am willing to do my part to help this sport out.”

Now he has agreed to the 14 day cut off period, a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao looks more likely to go ahead as it was the major stumbling block during negotiations last time around.

Pacquiao agrees to Mayweather’s 14 day blood test demands | Boxing FanCast

The ball is well and truly in Mayweather's court. If he still won't make the fight when Manny has agreed to 14 day cut-off, it will just prove that Floyd is scared of taking the fight. There is absolutely no reason for Mayweather to say no now. This fight has to happen.

He had to do this to be honest, as it was only looking bad for him not doing it

Not really, he only had to do this if he wants the fight. And he clearly does. Now it is up to Floyd. Any change in his stance will look bad for him and will determine whether he actually wants the fight or not.

Really?

Pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao has vehemently denied a report filed by a certain Timothy James on one of the Pacquiao websites claiming that he had agreed to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s demand for a 14 day cut-off for random blood tests for a fight to push through.

BoxingScene.com contacted Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz about the report and asked him to double-check with Pacquiao.

Koncz got back to us a short while after he spoke to Pacquiao at his residence and said Pacquiao categorically stated "he never spoke to any reporter and never heard of the guy” who filed the story, even as he maintained that he had no official website although there are people who claim that they handle his "official site" [mpboxing.com].

Koncz quoted Pacquiao as saying he “never talked to anybody about boxing and his main concern is campaigning and winning the election on May 10. (Floyd) Mayweather is not even in our minds or in our thoughts."

However, Koncz quoted Pacquiao as saying "we’ll fight Mayweather or any other fighter anytime, any place under the rules and regulations of the Commission of the state where the fight takes place.”

The story alleged that the reporter spoke to Pacquiao in his home in General Santos City and that he had made an official statement for his website at 2:30 a.m. on May 3.
The statement quoted Pacquiao as saying “I am willing to help the sport for the future of the sport. I do not want to see anyone cheat or cheat this sport. For that reason I am willing to consider taking blood as close as 14 days prior to the fight, as long as, my opponent does the same, and it is not a lot of blood, just enough to test. I do not want anyone having an unfair advantage where someone may get hurt. I am willing to do my part to help this sport out.”

Manny Pacquiao was also alleged to have stated that he is willing to take blood immediately after the fight in his locker room "No problem." Manny just does not want to take blood right before the fight, as he feels that may hurt the fighter, if not physically, maybe mentally.

Pacquiao Denies Bending To Mayweather on Testing Issue - Boxing News

Pacquiao rise through the weights keeping all his speed & power is starting to look very suspicious to me these days.

I wonder if Roach has got Khan drugged up ahead of the Paulie Malignaggi fight.

Mayweather started at the exact same weight as Manny, do you have doubts about him? The argument that he might be on PEDs due to his rise in weight class is a silly one. If you want to question him on not taking the drug test, fine. But if you have suspicions of Manny using something to get up to that weight, then it's the exact same for Floyd.

No, he didn't.

No one has the same suspicions of Floyd for one very good reason. He has just been subjected to the same testing Pac is refusing.

I got all excited then!! Pac surely has to back down from his stance on the testing, it looks very bad.

Absolutely. Take the test, bank 40 million bucks, and get the chance to legally punch the guy who he claims slandered him, repeatedly in the face.

There is only one legit reason not to agree to the testing. Because he's cheating.

You keep making out as if he's refusing to take the drugs test

The problem is the timing of it, not the test itself. He doesn't want it too close to the fight itself that it's detrimental to his chances on the night. As someone who feels like shite after a blood test I can sympathise somewhat

If it turns out he is a drugs cheat and I've been defending him I'll be fecking furious. But there's been plenty of gamesmanship and slurs from Mayweather's side, this hasn't been a one way street

First of all, the Pac camp refused the testing outright. He was "afraid of needles" apparently. Until it was pointed out that he has numerous tattoos.

Then, he claimed he would take the test, but not in the month before the fight. It would "weaken him" apparently. It was then pointed out that he was on camera taking a blood test on 24/7, 21 days before the Hatton fight. He looked seriously weak in that one.

The Mayweather camp suggested the blood testing be stopped 2 weeks before the fight. How the hell is he going to be weak 2 weeks after giving blood? Again, Pac refused. So as you can see, he IS refusing to take the test.

I am no fan of Floyd, but as I see it, he is in the right. He made concessions on the glove size, brand, and agreed to a ridiculous clause that stated he had to pay 10 MILLION dollars for every pound he weighed in at over 147. Mayweather agreed to all of that. All Pac had to do, was agree to random, Olympic style testing. Something Shane had no problem with.

So, if he's not cheating, what's the problem? He's willing to throw away 40 million bucks over having blood drawn 2 weeks before a fight? Bullshit.

Erm?

He'll have routinely had to take tests as the boxing regulations (and not Mayweathers whims) dictate

From memory his issue wasn't taking a test a month out, it was the Mayweather stipulation he could be tested at any point between a month out and prior to the weigh in

I'm just a casual boxing fan looking forward to this fight being made. You come across as far more one sided and bias from the sound of this mate

Mayweather seems to be a naturally bigger guy and he also gives me no reason to be suspicious of him as he takes these tests before he fights, There is one of the two reasons Pac man isn't taking the fight 1) he is taking drugs and does not want to get caught 2) he knows mayweather would simply be to good for him and is running scared but this talk of a blood sample been taken makes him weak is shit, it is not like a pint is going to be taken before the fight starts it is a sample which you can barely notice when it is actuallly been taken.

Not at all. In fact, if you read my posts in this thread you'll see if anything, I am a Floyd "hater."

Like yourself, I just want to see the biggest fight in the sport made. We are being denied it because Pac is refusing to be tested to a level that is the norm in other sports.

Can you imagine if this happened in football, cycling, athletics, etc? A guy only agreeing to be drug tested when he has prior notice? I mean, it's not like Floyd isn't going to have to go through the same testing. Both he and Mosley just have. So what's the problem?

If Pac had just come out and said "NO", when the drug testing was first mentioned, then it still looks bad, but whatever. Instead, his camp have come out with excuses as to why he won't agree to it, which have been blown out of the water. First he was afraid of needles, then he would agree to testing as long as it wasn't within a month of the fight, and now he is "superstitious."

Call me cynical, but it doesn't add up.

Golden Boy Promotions chief Richard Schaefer says Joe Calzaghe is considering a comeback to fight Bernard Hopkins again.

The Welshman retired in February 2009 with an undefeated 46-fight record behind him, but there has been talk of him returning to the ring.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins courtesy of a split decision at light heavyweight in his penultimate fight, but it was far from a satisfactory performance.

The former undisputed super middleweight king has had his personal problems since retiring, and it is now thought one final big pay-day in the ring would ease some of those worries.

Calzaghe's final fight was an impressive dismantling of Roy Jones Jr in 2008, but both he and Hopkins are said to be keen on a rematch.

"Joe has expressed interest and so has Bernard," said Schaefer in the Daily Mail. "We will try to make it happen in the autumn."

Veteran Hopkins has continued to fight in Calzaghe's absence, with unanimous points decisions against Enrique Ornelas and Jones Jnr, just last month, his last two fights.

'The Executioner' is never one to let a defeat rest and it would be no surprise if he was interested in avenging his narrow loss to the Welshman.

Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Calzaghe considers comeback

Would anyone be remotely intrested in seeing these 2 fight again? certainly wouldn't pay the £15 pay per view for it.

No, so it's a good job it appears to be bull. Most likely leaked out to deflect attention from the coke storm.

Joe's father and trainer, Enzo Calzaghe, says the rumors are not true. Enzo claims that his son has no desire to return to the ring. Joe has not fought since beating Roy Jones Jr. in late 2008. The fight with Hopkins, while close, was not exactly a exciting fight and few people would have interest in a rematch. Hopkins looked way beyond his best when he won a decision over Roy Jones last month.

"There is no truth in it - and I would be the first to know. [Joe has] achieved everything I wanted to achieve in boxing. The talk of Joe coming back is news to me and being close as I am to Joe as a trainer and a father, I would be first know. As far as I'm concerned he is retired and the word retired means retired. He probably wakes up every morning and think shall I have another fight? But thinking about it and doing it are two completely different things," Enzo Calzaghe told BBC Sport.

"His legacy is second to none and only a few in the sport have the mystique of finishing their career unbeaten. He retired because he had lost his hunger for boxing. Once you lose the hunger, how are you going to reignite it? For financial gain? Joe and my boxing philosophy was always it's all about the glory rather than the money whereas a comeback would be for the wrong reason.

Regardless, I never want to see Hopkins in the ring again.

I may be naive but i beleive both Manny and Floyd are clean to a point. This is about ego and Manny dosent want to just simply give in to Floyd on this. The boxing commision has there set of rules and those are the rules that need to be followed. This isnt up to Floyd to clean up the sport its up to the sport to clean it up.

If you have any issues it should be with the sanctioning bodies not Manny P.

It is the a career defining fight though, he will probably get about $30 million dollars for it, if he is really clean & really believes he can beat Mayweather then refusing the fight the whole world wants to see just to prove a point seems a bit daft, I really believe he is either taking someting or really doesn't think he can beat Mayweather and making excuses.

Roach says Pacman-Mayweather will get done

By Steve Cofield

Finally someone from Team Pacquiao is willing to go on the record about the odds of a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight. On Monday, a story ran nationally attributing a false quote to Pacman. The Filipino legend supposedly said he's willing to acquiesce to Mayweather's demand of blood and urine testing 14 days before the fight.
That was false Pacquiao never commented on the issue, but yesterday his trainer Freddie Roach did:
"Yeah, it’s gonna happen," Roach told The Two Live Stews on The Zone in Atlanta. "Just talked to Bob Arum yesterday. Bob Arum’s flying to the Philippines today to make Manny the offer. We are trying to make this work the best we can, yes."
Roach said it shouldn't be a long process.
"I think we have ammo to get it done quickly because there’s a lot of money out there."
How will the sides close the gap on the 14-day and 24-day demands that they wouldn't budge from before?
"We’re gonna meet in the middle. We wanted 24, they wanted 14. (Host: 19?) Yeah, 17 or 18 or something. (Host: Now will you also give blood after the fight?) 100 percent yes. That won’t be a problem."
Roach also said he expects the fight to be in Las Vegas and that Mayweather won't agree to leaving his new hometown to fight at Cowboys Stadium. He also got off a shot at Mayweather saying he sees signs of aging.

Exclusive Amir Khan interview: “Paulie is in for a big surprise” | Boxing FanCast

The rise of Amir Khan has been a meteoric one.

At just 17 the young fighter picked up a silver in the 2004 Athens Olympic games only losing to Mario Kindelan in the finals. Khan would not let the defeat go unavenged and in his final fight in the unpaid ranks he defeat Kindelan. Khan carried his obvious talent and star power on into the professional ranks blazing a trail at lightweight winning the Commonwealth Lightweight title as well as the WBA International Lightweight Championship and the WBO Inter-Continental Lightweight Championship.

A loss to Colombian Breidis Prescott momentarily halted his career but after a change of trainer, joining Freddie Roach’s Wildcard gym, he bounced back beating Oisin Fagan and Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera before moving up to junior welterweight and comprehensively out boxing Andreas Kotelnik to take his WBA title.

In the first defence of his title Khan blew away Dimitry Salita in 76 seconds and now in his second defence and on his US debut he takes on the brash former IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.

I had a chat with Khan to discuss the fight, his preparation and his future amongst other things.

Nice one CLK... good little interview, that.

Anyone staying up for Williams vs. Cintron? Got a quality stream for those that don't have Sky Sports, send us a PM if you want it.

Wish I hadn't now. Managed to persuade my brother to stay up for it - who's only a little bit into his boxing - telling him Paul Williams is a really exciting fighter, etc, and then it ends the worst way it possibly can.

Suppose I got to watch the Margarito fight tho. He was my favourite fighter before the whole hand wrap thing but even now I still can't help but warm to him. He's a scumbag, he's slow and he's plodding but there's something about him that I like. One of the most entertaining boxers out there, without a doubt.

Lol I did the exact same thing, told my brother to watch it, I was in hospital he was fuming at how it ended then I woke him at 8.30 to come get me from the hospital as well!
