The RedCafe Boxing Thread

but he had a 27-0 record , how the hell did he get that, he must of fought some real shite fighters.
As I said, only 2 out of 29 people he defeated, have a wikipedia page. Everyone has one nowadays.

He has basically fought nobodies. When I heard his name, I was surprised that there apparently is a good Kosovan boxer for whom I never heard. Then I dig a bit and saw that he has basically done nothing on his career and no-one except David Haye has an idea on who is him.

To me, it looks like Haye never wants to fight the top lads, he just wants some extra cash as he's wasted most of it already. He'll have 7 or 8 of these bum fights and earn his coin before saying he doesn't see him getting a shot blah blah blah and walking away again.

Can see the theory behind that. Selling out another O2 arena show against fodder like that leads to theories that the below was not a one off and have an undercurrent of truth to it all...

27-0?? Had nobody punched him before?!!
That was my first thought. Just watched it on plus 1. The guy shat himself. Haye needs rounds if he is going to fight anyone dangerous.

So, the next Haye's fight is against a 44 years old ex-champ who has lost every big fight he ever took, bar against an ancient George Foreman. Hooray!

Seriously, why is he doing this shit? He is probably the best boxer there next to Klitschko, Fury and Joshua, and can give a good match to any of them.

It'd be hysterical if he does these 3-4 bum fights in 12 months.....and then gets injured, typically when one of the big 3 decide to give him a fight. I wouldn't be surprised if he fights like Antonio Tarver or Bernie Hopkins next, after all they are ultra vague "name" fights he can claim, kinda like when Joe took the RJJ fight for legit no reason other than having that name on his CV.

No he can't, any of those 3 would destroy him. He thinks his "speed" means he will win any fight, his ridiculously relaxed style has him exposed too often, even being "slow" fury would surpass that and hurt him badly.

Joshua is a maybe, but IMO even with his inexperience he would be sensible enough to take haye, Joshua is over hyped at the minute but there are flaws in his game, too stiff is the most common one. However, he's still better than haye, haye isn't as fast as he once was, he can't throw a punch like he could, and he certainly won't be able to take a proper throw from a decent heavyweight. He's an idiot. He's basically a bum now living off past glory for a bit more cash.

Klitschko would still probably be enough to make haye back out of a fight.

He's a pointless boxer imo

Money in short (something that he apparently needs plenty of ASAP), as Briggs has a big following and can sell a fight with just his verbal game, however its gonna be a one sided as you suggest as he looked pretty terrible against the punching bag he fought yesterday(not that Haye looked much better).

What does everyone make of Nick Blackwell's comments today? If you've not seen it, he is accusing the Eubank's of being disrespectful by holding a press conference so soon after their fight in which he was seriously injured. I'm with Eubank on this, I don't think him or his dad came across as being disrespectful and to not speak at all would have given similar signals. I don't get what the issue is with simply talking to the press. I think Blackwell may have called this wrong.

He's kind of got a point about the Eubank's loving attention but I dunno if that was the case here. They did seem genuinely concerned during the incident. I think the one bit they twisted was how Eubank Sr was saying not to hit him in the head and they said it was to protect Blackwell. That's bullshit really, the whole reason they did it was cos it was obvious the ref wouldn't stop it so they said go to the body to force the stoppage.

An interesting interview with BJS below does bring up some good points re Eubank though...he's fighting people he's much better than and it is dangerous for the other fighter. The interview is very long but it's quite interesting if you have time to listen to it.

Excellent video. BJS is right about pretty much everything in that video.

His career went downhill really after the Froch fight. He looked terrified at times in that fight which was weird as he was a pretty strong favourite going in.

I always thought he was pretty over rated to be honest he had a pretty easy ride up until the Froch fight really.

Must be a killer taking performance enhancing drugs and still not being able to beat Badou Jack though, guys hardly a world beater himself!

Yeah I think BJS suffers from similar to Fury that people won't take them seriously cos of their background. Both of them seem to know a load about boxing. Although BJS does come across as a bit stupid about other things in that interview (the best contradiction is complaining about racism then implying Kugan is a terrorist about 2 minutes later.)

I dunno. I think it's all tongue in cheek with Kugan. They know him really well and take the piss out of him on a regular basis. There's a mutual respect there, though.

Tyson and BJS are as knowledgeable about boxing as any fighters in the business. I like them both to be honest, though I disagree with some of their views.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong it's definitely tongue in cheek. Can tell their mates with the stuff they say to each other. Does seem like he kind of realises he's contradicted himself when he says it though. Whilst it's just banter with Kugan I think with people watching you could cause some offence. It's like telling a racist joke against black people and saying "I've got loads of black mates." It didn't bother me just found it quite funny really.

I never worry hugely about their views anymore to be honest. I think people can be selective really and use it as a way to criticise a boxer they don't like. Pacquiao is openly homophobic for example and rarely gets slated the way Fury does.

Think someone's already touched on this... but clearly its not the same as racist comments he receives from the public at all. BJS and Kougan know each other well and obviously call each other pikey/terrorist etc as they are comfortable with each other. People always get confused with racism, its not the words used, but the intent or context they are used.

Yeah I agree and I did previously I'm not saying he's being actively racist but it's slightly hypocritical to moan about racism and then on a public forum call an Asian person a terrorist whether they're your friend or not. IFL TV gets good viewing figures so it's a bit risky to do it you are probably offending someone. It doesnt bother me my point was he's a bit of an idiot really and that was an example of it.

It would be like me walking onto Market St with an Asian friend and shouting "banter" that he's a terrorist, I'm sure I'd offend a few Asian people there.

Ricky Burns becomes a 3 weight world champion:
WBO Super Featherweight
WBO Lightweight
WBA Super Lightweight

8th round TKO against a heavily over matched opponent with a seriously padded record of domestic fodder from the looks. Only caught the final 4 rounds of it due to the CL final but it looked a drubbing with the ending an inevitability at any stage.

Can't stand Bellew. Find him terrible to watch and he just come across as a ridiculously cringing person for some reason. Hope he gets knocked out in front of his home crowd.

Quick question here. Who is the greatest p4p fighter of all time?
