Joshua or Haye. Wonder if Wlad has passed up the opportunity to rematch afterall.

Joshua to fight Charles Martin for the IBF title in April.

That fight is also at the 02 in London which is very unusual for an American fighter. Almost unheard of for an American champion. Weird.

Doubt Martin could sell out a venue even in his home city and this will be his biggest payday to date and possibly ever (depending on how the rest of his career goes but I don't rate him too highly). Should be easy work for AJ and puts him on the world stage with a world heavyweight title.

I don't rate him either, but still, he's undefeated with a high KO average and is a champion. He's proved a lot more than Joshua so far.

Good chance he's looked at that Whyte fight and thought, like a lot of people, that Joshua can be got at. Showing confidence to fight in London. Even if money is a factor, which it almost certainly is.

He's certainly faced more robust opposition up to now, but at 29 year (3 years older than Joshua) he's not shown nearly as much talent/ability. I think he knows this could be the biggest pay day of his career.

The best mix of being the biggest fight available and the least risk (for a championship fight) for Joshua. Classic Matchroom matchup - and fair play to them for it.

It's far from easy for him though. It's a big step up in level and pressure.

Martin hasn't fought anyone great and he won the title in a weird contest where his opponent wasn't ever in trouble until he clearly twisted his knee. Then he couldn't move and it was target practice and a mercy finish.

He's undefeated and has a good KO ratio against predominantly lower level opposition.

Interesting fight all the same. Hope he does it.

That was better than I expected. I think they both underestimate each other a bit. Makes it even more interesting. Thought Frampton was harsh by basically calling him stupid.

haha it was a bit harsh, he has a point though. Quigg doesn't come across as the most intelligent. Formates like Gloves are Off really bring it out as well cos he tried being clever and just looked an idiot. Frampton had an answer for everything and then Quigg would try moving the goalposts so the answer wasn't valid anymore. It was also a bit cheap of Quigg to mention gym stories (which Frampton alluded to himself) so it was probably anything goes at that point. Looking forward to the fight though.

Fair play to martin for taking that Joshua fight, I'd imagine it's a huge payday for him if nothing else. It's a risk for Joshua though not just this fight but for future fights as well. A lot of fighters would want to fight him and if he's a champion it will be the top names. If he does a Kell Brook and just fights bums I could imagine it going the same way with fans getting pretty pissed off with him.

Quigg ain't the sharpest tool in the box, no question. He left school at 14. He is totally dedicated to his craft though. I think Frampton overrates his own 'boxing brain' too. Besides, Mayweather can barely read and his boxing IQ is off the scale.

It is pretty big for AJ to be going for a world title so soon. Fair play to him. All I know about Martin is that Dan Rafael said that he isn't a natural boxer. I guess that means he isn't that talented. Will be an interesting fight at least. What I liked about Joshua in the last fight is him showing that he is a game fighter. That could possibly why Hearn is happy for him to go after this. I don't think he will be overawed by the occasion or opponent.

Cheers to those who posted the gloves off vid. Frampton comes off as arrogant, the Irish Khan IMO and Quigg comes off as braindead, like he's been hit as many times as Holyfield already and had the knockouts of Hatton.

Should be good.

Brooks doing alright IMO, he's had a couple of injuries and a stabbing but still fighting his mandatory fights to keep his belt, on top of that he's chased Khan all over the place. Can't be accused of 'ducking' IMO. Agree though he will need a few big fights on his CV soon, even if its just big show rather than name.

Frampton's arrogance is one thing, but Quigg's horrible trainer and promoter have boosted his ego to silly heights too. Hope Frampton white-washes him, just to see the what Quigg's camp have to say about that.

Frampton came off the better in that. Not sure anything he says is particularly arrogant either, most of it is true.

Frampton seems to think he's far more famous than Quigg, if it actually matters... Then tries to make out he sells as many tickets as Hatton. Dream oh dream, dream dream dream. I think both are roughly the same level.

True, although Mayweather was a "genius" in boxing terms. I don't think Quigg if like that, I thought Frampton was pretty spot on what he said about him. I like Quigg but in boxing terms I do think Frampton as a boxer is better. It's a close fight though.

I agree about the Martin fight as well, I think his real worry is what comes after. There will be people queuing to fight Joshua as he can be got at. At this time if I was a boxer I'd probably rather fight him than Fury for example. 1 man who will definitely go the IBF route would be David Haye for example.

I just think his defences as a champion leave a lot to be desired. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt he's not a big name in America. With the exception of Porter he's fought no one at all in his career arguably. His defences look bad on him and even worse when people like Khan are fighting Canelo and then he was accusing Khan of ducking him (no one is ducking Kell Brook to instead fight Canelo, it makes no sense.) In the meantime he was called out by people like Brandon Rios who whilst not brilliant is better than all except Porter that Brook has fought. I'm just a bit tired of the guy to be honest.

I don't think he's arrogant. I think he just comes across as much more intelligent than Quigg and it can look like arrogance. Quigg gets flustered at his own questions where as Frampton is more composed. I'm surprised that they didn't try and make this one of them Face Offs where the trainers are there as well just to help Quigg.

Completely agree @Oggmonster on nearly every point there.

AJ - tough contest but the heart and attitude he showed vs Whyte is what is driving the reason for this matchup in sporting terms. In matchmaking terms it's also the "easiest" championship fight in the HW division for decades.

Brook - I like him, I honestly do, but I'm tired of it all. He's fought barely anyone of note outside of Porter and there was no rematch for what was a close fight. Rios, a human punching bag in the end, was a name to boost the cv and they even skirted that one. Just don't get it. Comfortably the most protected champion in modern boxing regardless of fighting his joke mandatories. Again, I like him and I really think he could kick on and be a stellar name in that division but there's a reason America and the world don't give him even the slightest credibility, his peak years are spent fighting dead rubber contests and nobody is buying it.

Frampton - I want him to win but it's not like I dislike Quigg or would be annoyed if Quigg won. I like him too but for whatever reason I like Frampton more. I believe him and agree with his views on that Gloves Off piece too. Can see lots happening in this contest though. Frampton picking off a game but limited Quigg is my primary thought but the closer it gets, the timing of the fight could be absolutely spot on in SQ's favour. Based on the last fight of the Jackal, Quigg's style could get in his face, inside the pocket and really work the body over and give him no breathing space en route to a Hatton-esque victory.

Can't wait to see Joshua in his title fight, hope he does it. Anyone see his interview with Kugan on IFl tv channel where he's in the Matchroom gym scoffing cornflakes and a protein shake, trying to make us think that's how he got big... Hope he does it and then hope Haye smashes him for the belt, then the real dust ups begin!

Peter Fury just retweeted that so I assume its safe to say Tyson Fury is fighting Wlad again and in the UK this time.

Yep. If Manny wasn't on a massive decline/at the end of his career, the story would be different.

It's not a way.

He made stupid comments and deserves that.

Agree stupid comments but the age we are, society is VERY sensitive, its like demolition man on steroids. Nike playing on the high horse yet make billions via child labour or contracting foreign factories that sack pregnant women, if discovered, or don't allow people to take a wizz etc. Sleeping six in a corrugated iron shed. Puts things into context when Pacman, as offensive as it could be, is just a few words in comparison.Bit rich from Nike.

I'm just gonna leave this here.......

LOL, you do that mate, and I'm just gonna nip outside and dance around with a tennis ball then play with a few elastic resistance bands and get big by the time I wake up. Might even skip the shake. Bet ya the guy who plays Rock Balboa packed the size on at his age by chasing a chicken around again too...

Lost all respect for Manny there.

Admittedly, I don't know that much about boxing so when Mayweather vs Manny came around last year, I rooted for him as he seemed the more humble fighter and at least seemed like he was trying to attack, but comments like those leave a very bad taste in the mouth.

Pacquiao has always been a bit of a cnut to be honest. It just fit the narrative of Floyd vs Manny that he was the nice guy to Floyd being a horrible human being (I'm not saying Mayweather is a nice person by any stretch of the imagination.)

For all his religious belief stuff he used to be a huge gambler and cheat on his wife all the time so it's a bit hypocritical of him if nothing else I suppose.

Nike were probably looking for a decent excuse to end this really. Manny isn't the same fighter he once was and is retiring soon anyway so they might as well jump on the next cash cow.

If Khan pulls off a huge surprise and beats Canelo then he's facing GGG as the winner is now contractually mandated to do so.
