David Price is making a comeback as well apparently which adds another potential name to the list.

You for real? Mind you, you did say Tyson Fury is a bum who would get owned by Wlad...

I don't know how desperate they would be to make that fight
Lots of risks, David Price is a big, tall heavyweight (6ft8 according to wiki) - which presents some issues for Joshua, especially as Price himself has power

Yes, he can't take a punch, and for that reason you'd expect Joshua to deal with him, with his power. But there are risks to it, as he would cause him problems. Joshua so far has more or less been fighting guys in the low 6s, one was taller at 6'7. So, they imo will be reluctant to go for Price

You two can't be serious? Audley, Enzo Mac, just about anyone these days would beat David Price, that American who came over and owned him twice has destroyed his mind. He'd stand no chance against Haye, Fury, Wilder, Wlad or even Joshua. There is no 'extra name' in the mix, he's what Tyson said he was years ago on Channel 5, a plumber from Liverpool.

Brook is the most protected champion of any weight class in the modern era. He's barely fought anyone of note bar Shawn Porter. He's not entertained a rematch either.

Brook is fighting is mandatory challenges from the IBF isn't he? Hardly protected fights just because people don't know who those fighters are or don't think they have big enough celeb appeal or name. We've all seen how the IBF can be if you mess about so Brook is doing the right thing. Also another thing which spoils your argument, especially as you bang on about Khan in your post, is that Brook and Hearne having been trying everything to get Khan to sign up but he won't. Khan's the one who said he'd fight Kel Brook if he fought someone or won a belt only to move the goal posts and not fight, he said it live to Sky etc yet then complains how Mayweather said Twitter fans can pick his next opponent but picked the lesser voted Maidana.

Brook's just going on his way, Khan is the one stopping the public getting what they want, he's the one without a belt and the one fighting kickboxers or having a year off. Khan's still got 3 unanswered defeats as well to man up too, one of which is very realistic. Say what you want about Brook but we all know him and Hearne would have Khan at Wembley in a heartbeat.

Yes, it's obvious. I can see why too. Brook isn't afraid of Khan, and no matter what Khan or his management says, there's plenty to be afraid about of Brook when you have a Khan chin.

Anyone watching Danny Garcia v Robert Guerrero for the vacant WBC welterweight championship? Coverage starts at 1am GMT BoxNation.
Just can't get excited about this fight. It's just so predictable. Nothing Guerrero does gives him a realistic chance here, it's a very favourable styles match-up for Garcia. It'll be like most Garcia fights; he'll win 7-5 / 8-4 in a very unspectacular manner.

I think you're probably right. May just record and watch in am. It'll turn out to be an unbelievable classic now, just wait and see.

Don't care much for Garcia as a fighter, he's too advantaged politically it seems and the beneficiary of terrible decisions favourably in recent history, but I like him as a person (not his Dad) and there can be no denying that he clearly won the fight last night. Though the first 5 were competitive and majority won by Guerrero. From then on, Garcia controlled the fight.

The Ghost is toast. George Groves for world titles now 0-3.

Some heavily Garcia favoured highlights here -

Nope, I was being half sarcastic. Although I imagine the likes of Joshua could potentially fight him given a) it was spoken about before he lost his last fight and b) he is still a bit of a name in England. I'm not exactly touting him to be a world champion, just possibly face the likes of Joshua in the future. I don't think I've ever used the term "owned" as well, but picking Wlad to beat Tyson is hardly a ridiculous prediction to make.

Khan still chasing that Mayweather money, fading fastly into obscurity and looking as pathetic as Shannon Briggs following round Wlad for about 2 years. Let it go Amir, it's never happening.

Anthony Joshua is set to be offered an IBF world title eliminator against Carlos Takam.

The unbeaten 26-year-old has swiftly risen through the heavyweight rankings with 15 straight victories and could soon secure a shot at the IBF belt, which is currently held by Charles Martin.

Erkan Teper is higher in the organisation's standings, but the German has tested positive for a banned substance and the IBF are waiting on a B sample test before sanctioning Joshua-Takam, which would see the winner become mandatory challenger for Martin.

IBF championships chairman Lindsey E Tucker told Sky Sports: "Teper and Takam are the next two, but if there is a problem with either one, we would go to Joshua

"If Teper is out, yes it will be Takam and Joshua. They will be fighting for the No 1 position, which is the mandatory challenge.

"We would give them the standard 30-day negotiation period and then if they did not reach the decision we would call for a purse bid."

Takam has built up 33 victories, but has also suffered two defeats, including a 10th-round stoppage loss to Alexander Povetkin.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is still finalising plans for Joshua's first scheduled fight of the year at London's O2 Arena on April 9.

Hearn told Sky Sports: "We have opportunities everywhere and a list of fighters calling AJ out longer than my arm. Stay tuned for next week's announcement."

Joshua has attracted a growing number of possible opponents, with fellow Brit Dereck Chisora, New Zealand's Joseph Parker and American Bryant Jennings all expressing an interest in facing the British and Commonwealth champion.

And, whoever is confirmed as his next rival, Joshua says he is raring to go and ready to display his skills once again.

"I can't wait to get back in the ring on April 9," he said. "I feel fit and ready to take on whoever I need to continue my journey to the top.

"The atmosphere at The O2 was unbelievable in December so I'm looking forward to putting on an even bigger show for the fans. It is a really exciting time for heavyweight boxing right now so I can't wait to get fighting."

Should Joshua and his team choose not to pursue the IBF route, unbeaten Kiwi Parker is next in line and his promoter Dean Lonergan says his fighter is willing to step into the breach.

"We would more than likely like to take that fight," said Lonergan. "If we were to take that fight and win, we'll go to No 1 mandatory ahead of Anthony Joshua."

Hearing that David Haye's opponent will be Malik Scott. The man Chisora wore down in 6 and Wilder took out in a round.

Kell Brook vs Amir Khan a step closer after progress in talks
By Peter Gilbert

Bitter rivals Kell Brook and Amir Khan may soon trade blows rather than insults believes promoter Eddie Hearn
Kell Brook could defend his IBF welterweight title against bitter domestic rival Amir Khan at Wembley in the summer following progress in negotiations.

An eagerly-awaited showdown between Brook and two-time former champion Khan appeared a long way off last week as the pair continued their long-running feud by trading insults on social media.

However, Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn now believes the fight will happen after confirming there has been good progress in the last 24 hours.

"Kell Brook is desperate for this fight," Hearn told Sky Sports News.

"It doesn't mean he will just roll over and let Team Khan tickle his belly and tell him what they are going to pay him.

"We have to be respected, he's the world champion, but the money on the table in this fight, I can't understand why this fight wasn't signed six months ago.

"But great fights take time. Froch-Groves II was very, very difficult negotiations, Quigg against Frampton went on for years before we got that made and in the end it was just the willingness of both fighters to fight each other.

"There's too much money to leave on the table. There's too much legacy to create a fight at the national stadium at Wembley that will be remembered for years and years and years, and there's a world title on the line.

"We've made decent progress in the last 24 hours, but these are the ups and downs of making a fight.

"If you had asked me 48 hours ago, I would have told you this is dead, a waste of time and then all of a sudden you have one phone call and you think 'you know what, this might just get made.'
"It happened with Quigg-Frampton. There were plenty of times when I spoke to Jake McGuigan or Barry McGuigan, and I slammed the phone down and said 'that's it, no more talk, no more conversations, forget it we're going a different way', and then you just have a conversation and think just maybe.

"And we had one of those conversations in the last 24 hours. So, boxing fans, don't give up hope on Brook against Khan on June 4 at Wembley just yet."

Brook will first return to the ring to make a mandatory defence of his title against Kevin Bizier on March 26, while Khan could face Danny Garcia in a rematch after the WBC ordered the American to face the Briton before June.

Great!

Hearing that David Haye's opponent will be Malik Scott. The man Chisora wore down in 6 and Wilder took out in a round.

Fair play I guess considering how long he's been out.

Groves v Di luisa - Anyone watching?

Depspite all the antics surrounding the previous 2 Froch fights, I think he's a good kid, and a decent fighter who I believe is good enough to win a world title. Hope he gets through tonight.

I'm watching @RedFish

Hope he gets through this in good fashion. Viper style, cagey Groves has the potential to be a world champion. The one we've seen the past 2 years, barely ranks above European level.

Shane McGuigan should hopefully bring him back to his best form.

I'll probably catch up on it tomorrow as am out tonight but it's an interesting fight for Groves. I'd imagine he'll win as he's huge favourite but his confidence has been ruined since that second Froch fight. He'll hope a change of coach will make a difference for him though.

Nick Halling and Jim Watt have come close to hitting new lows tonight. Complete ignorance of what is actually happening in the ring and banging the drum of political agendas regardless.

What? I thought the ref stopped it at first. Mistimed the count? hmmm

Edit: Shame, Tommy Martin did actually accidentally miss the count. Pity, but he did well and deserved to see out the fight.

Another predictable win for Kovalev last night against Pascal. Dominated from start to finish, called out Stevenson after the fight and he was ringside, tried to confront him in the ring.

It was probably the most pointless rematch ever. There really was no need for it!

Agree, but he was still the best available opponent for Kovalev. Hopefully Kovalev fights Ward next. We all know the Stevenson fight isn't happening.

Frampton - Quigg is going to be bloody brilliant.

Yep, I can't call this. Frampton is just so bloody good to watch, and is as good as anyone I've seen off the back foot (remember Frampton v Martinez 1), and Quigg probably shades the punch power (especially those vicious left hooks to the body). I'm fans of both, so torn between the two lol

EDIT: What the feck am I talking about. Heart is with Quigg but I do enjoy watching Frampton.

Quigg is one of my favourite matchroom fighters but I have to back Frampton here. Before their last fights, I had Frampton as the clear favourite. Their last performances has made it look like a pick'em pretty much. I think the best version of Frampton beats the best version of Quigg, though.
