Fury's Wikipedia says that he was born in Wythenshawe and raised in Manchester. He chooses Manchester as his home town when he is introduced and learnt to box at Jimmy Egans's gym in Wythenshawe. He is a Man Utd fan to boot. His gym is in Bolton which is Greater Manchester.

Crolla is from New Moston and Quigg is from Bury, both raised as fighters on the Mancunian boxing scene.
I know he was born in Manchester. However, he has lived in Morecambe with his extended family for years. I know he supports United. I've given him tickets.

Hey look, if you really want this bible bashing homophobe - you can have him!...........................don't tell him I said that.

He will probably be chumming up to Graham Norton on his show next week. The homophobic thing will be long forgotten.

Don't forget Terry Flanagan as well. As much as Sky like to hide it, boxing does exist outside Matchroom/SkySports!

Damn, so that is four! That must be a record for Manchester. I remember in the Witter, Hatton and Calzahge days there were 7 British champs with world titles at once and that was a record. There must be more than that now.

Edit: just checked, it is 10 currently.

And I was right. Can´t account for the fact that Wlad never threw a double jab, never threw a straight right or a left hook off the jab. Tyson fought exactly as expected. If Wlad told me he doesn´t intend to throw a punch during the fight, I would have picked Fury.

Klitschko couldn't stand in the sort of range to throw combinations. He also looked a bit scared of Fury's power, so once he lost the jab war, Fury was able to control the fight.

That's it. Who could have forseen that?Fury also kept feinting to thow a big right which put Wlad off big time. Wlad never had the courage to let those hands go for the fear of getting knocked spark out.

Boils my piss that the British media try and dig him out after last night's achievement:

I'm sure his quotes were taken out of context as well.

It's a valid point though. Why do people pretend he's not got these views just because he won? If he lost I bet there would be loads more from it from all parties. I don't think it has much to do with him being a gypsy or anything I just think people don't agree with his views which are extreme in certain areas. I don't know if it's a context thing either, he's been filmed saying some of them, he's been interviewed for papers saying them and even put it on his own Twitter, that can't be taken out of context.

I've never got this mentality that because someone's English you have to support them, Fury whilst he may be nice in person does come across horribly in the media and on social media platforms. It seems people only believe the media when it suits them at times.

Fury had the reach advantage and was using a lot of unorthodox (technically poor) head and lateral movement, he is also quicker on his feet than WK. Wlad simply couldn't close the range to get shots off.

Wlad is used to fighting smaller guys and easily controlling the range. The boot was on the other foot last night and he couldn't adjust. I thought he was exposed in a way.

Wlad is getting older but I agree that Fury deserves credit for Wlad looking so poor.

Manchester is now home to three world champions, not bad at all.

He was also trained in Wythenshawe in you early days, I know his old trainers.

His uncle has just been on he radio saying they've got lawyers on that case as it was all totally taken out of context. He has said loads of stupid things though.

And Ollie Holt is a sanctimonious tosser at the best of times.

It's the best time to do it. When he's at an all time high, people will forget when he's winning but it will all be brought up again the second he loses.

Wait til he fights someone like Joshua (if it happened) Fury's name would be dragged through the mud due to Joshua being perceived as the nicer guy. Boxing always needs a story, it's become like WWE. Even Quigg vs. Frampton which both were shown as respectful for each other has suddenly turned into Frampton vs Hearn and Gallagher to generate interest for it.

I've picked losers before, but this is the absolute worst. Tyson Fury beating Klitschko goes against everything I know about boxing (plus 99.99% of pundits) it's more of an intellectual blow than a financial blow but I'm still in shock. I had to google it on Sunday morning to be absolutely certain that it wasn't all a bad dream. Felt a bit like when a relative dies and you wake up and can't quite come to terms with reality!

I suppose you could say that Klitschko got old overnight, or that he just didn't want to get involved in a fight, but that feels like a bit of a cop-out. I think I said something to effect of "I'd back Fury if the fight was in a lay-by but in a 12 round affair he hasn't got a chance". All the video suggested that he didn't have a chance, that he would be comprehensively outboxed, I genuinely didn't hear one knowledgeable boxing person pick Fury to win the thing. It's not as big a shock as Buster Douglas but in terms of fights I've gambled on, I've never been so surprised by a result.

Don't get all the moaning in here about Fury winning. He's entertaining in the build up and doesn't look invincible which means every fight could see a possible new champion. Is this not better than what we previously had when Wlad seemed invincible and boring?

Before the fight it was pretty obvious to me Fury had physical attributes that would make it difficult for Klitschko. Until you put two men in the ring, you do not know how the styles will match up. There were a few people picking Fury to win the fight. Richie Woodhall was one.

Still can't believe Fury won. Had Wlad down for the win but he was made to look old on Saturday.

Probably a good thing for the HW division as Klitschko was a boring champion. Wilder and Joshua are potentially mega fights in the making for Fury going into 2016. Ones that will have plenty of action in them & I can see Joshua cleaning the division up.

As for the MMA v Boxing chat, I don't care much for UFC, find it boring and it'll never be bigger than Boxing just because of the history boxing has, being nearly impossible for MMA to have someone as big as Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Tyson etc.

He looks in terrible shape though! Plus it's not as if Wlad hasn't outboxed taller fighters before, Wach is about the same height as Fury and looks to have less body fat.

Fury's conditioning is great. He's in his athletic prime, too.

He is the worst thing to happen in Heavyweight Boxing in a long long time, the guy is a class one prize clown, who every time he opens his mouth just confirms that fact.
When he fights he looks fat and lumbering, sorry I just don't like him, never have done.
I used to work across the road from where he lived and he was pain in the arse.
Always gobbing his mouth off at anybody who would listen.

Why do people have to attack him for his views? He's not forcing them on anybody, whatever they are. He seems to be deeply religious and he that obviously influences his believes. I don't share them but it's none of my business, really. The man comes across quite well in every interview that I've seen, apart from the match build-up, which he already explained and apologized.

All 3 are happy to laud Vardy as a hero though. Hypocrites.

Well I must be watching different to you.

Also never seen them lambaste Terry for being a racist when he was putting in world-class performances last year.

They all know nothing about boxing either. Just on the bandwagon for big fights.

From Bad Left Hook: http://www.badlefthook.com/2015/11/...wladimir-klitschko-to-exercise-rematch-clause

Before anyone gets too excited about a possible full heavyweight unification between newly crowned world champion and WBA/WBO/IBF titleholder Tyson Fury and WBC titleholder Deontay Wilder, hold your horses. Wladimir Klitschko will be taking the rematch he is contractually owed next year.

From Sky Sports:

"There will be a rematch. It is still early and I have to process things but there will definitely be a rematch. I was well prepared for this fight but he was quick for his height."

Klitschko (64-4, 53 KO) gave Fury (25-0, 18 KO) all credit for his victory:

"I was lacking speed and he was quick. I just could not find the right distance. His reach bothered me. I tried it but it just did not happen."

Because his views are controversial and he speaks out about them all the time. He put himself in a position where he's airing his opinion, it's going to get scrutinized. Thats not just Fury it applies to anyone (famous or not.) Its none of my business either but when I see them and disagree I'm entitled to comment and equally form some kind of opinion of him based on what I read.

I don't think he comes across well in every interview, read his one with Oliver Holt from a month or so ago, it's very very odd.

All 3 are happy to laud Vardy as a hero though. Hypocrites.

True, Vardy apologised though. Fury won't apologise and I don't think he should, it's his religious belief and he's entitled to it, doesn't mean people have to agree wiht it though and they can comment on it if they don't

I agree that footballers get off easier than any other sport or any action they take. It's always been the way though, it's the biggest sport and people just turn a blind eye to it It's hugely unfair but it happens.

Bit harsh to say they know nothing about boxing. Holt in particular has commented on boxing from years and not just the big stuff, they are sports journalists though and the big fights will always make the most headlines.

Errrrmmmm. Because his views are deeply offensive and backward?

Also people excusing him because of his religion

At least his views are based on religion, unlike Terry and Vardy.

And fair point about Holt, but I've never seen Dickinson or Hayward comment on boxing before. Thought it was out of order for them to jump out of their shells and discredit Fury's achievement, which is, let's face it, pretty monumental.

True, I'm not disagreeing that Terry and Vardy are cnuts either. There's no excusing it but Fury's views for me are terrible whether its religion or not, he's always set himself up for scrutiny by airing them, he probably knows it himself and probably revels in it as it's publicity for him at the end of the day.

Fury deserves all the credit he is getting its a brilliant achievement fair play to him, any success he has though people will always bring up his views I think, he doesn't' seem the type to care though really so I imagine he's not to bothered he achieved his dream and no one can take it away from him.

I disagree with his views as well but for me that comes second. A lot of sportsmen over the years have been majorly flawed characters. It's part of what makes them what they are. Mike Tyson for example.

Also just found this on Holt. Hypocrisy at it's finest:

It's going to be shocking for these people to find out he's a convicted drug dealer then!

I don't really know the full story on all this controversy about Fury so I've stayed out of it, but if he is indeed the vocal homophobe that he's being made out to be I really don't understand why it would make it any less unacceptable just because religion is the basis.

I agree sports people will be flawed but that doesnt excuse any of them, including Fury or Mike Tyson.

Is it really hypocrisy though? Maybe Holt thinks Tyson was innocent despite being convicted? Plenty of other people do and Tyson himself has always said he didn't do it. I'm not excusing TYson on the basis he says he's innocent but it isn't as black and white as if you're convicted of something you've definitely done it. Fury is definitely a homophbe as he admits it himself, he doesn't think there's anything wrong with his opinions but plenty of people do....I just can't warm to someone with views like that really....I'll never knock his achievements but I don't think I could ever support him really.

It's going to be shocking for these people to find out he's a convicted drug dealer then!

They'll sell it on redemption as they have in the past with Joshua stuff, it's far more admirable to make a mistake and admit it than just ignore it. Equally it was a cannabis charge it's not THAT bad, it's a drug in itself that divides opinion.

I think it makes the division more open and more exciting. He may be an idiot sometimes but he's technically a good boxer, but always has the chance of getting dropped. It's better than any previous Wlad fight where you know it'll be a boring fight with Wlad winning by any means (ko or points) Fury loves to entertain, even if were laughing with him or at him it's still funny. All the major players in the division are on an even more level playing field with some decent up and comers vying for position. I don't get how this is a bad thing regardless of your feeling for Tyson.
