Will go to Canelo. Cotto fought well. Close.
Those scorecards were harsh.
GGG would rip him to pieces fwiw.
I think the word you are looking for is fixed. Only way you beat this kid going forward is by KO and he´s not fighting people that can knock him out. He´ll always look for the age AND size advantage to negate the skill disadvantage. And if that´s not doing it like tonight or against Lara. Well nobody is going mess with the Mexican mafia.
I think he won, no doubt. But yeah, scores were dodgy. Never that far ahead.I think the word you are looking for is fixed. Depends on the catchweight, which is a load of shite to begin with. You can say that again. Will be a cracking fight
If the rounds are close but one boxer is CLEARLY landing the bigger shots, he's obviously going to get the decision. This isn't amateur boxing.
I don't think Canelo's limited, I think he goes 12 rounds with GGG cause he's deceptively smart and has an iron chin. GGG's boxing skill is just out of this world though.Exactly. I love Cotto and his boxing skills but there was clearly no way on earth he was going to hurt Canelo who unfortunately is so limited that he stands exactly zero chance against GGG

I remember Canelo being out on his feet against Jose Cotto, one punch away from an embarrassing defeat. Golovkin stops him mid rounds IMO.
He was like a teenager when he fought Jose Cotto, and got caught flush. He's come on leaps and bounds since.I remember Canelo being out on his feet against Jose Cotto, one punch away from an embarrassing defeat. Golovkin stops him mid rounds IMO.

It was like his 33rd fight! Regardless of his age it shows that he can be hurt and when you look at what Golovkin brings to the table, he is going to get hurt again IMO.
thinking the point deduction should make Abraham the winner, but I actually think Murray gets it.
Difficult to disagree. It's an unfair fight, as no one has the tools to remotely challenge Golovkin at middleweight. I actually thought Cotto showed he was a better boxer for sure v Canelo, but the disadvantage of being the smaller man was obvious in the ring...Changes nothing though, Cotto is a bone fide legend and will be remembered as such.
Cotto is HOF for sure. Too small for the real top guys at MW, like you say. He is a WW really.
Like the Super Six?Quite a bit OT but I was having a chat with a pal earlier and we were saying it would be amazing to have a league style tournament in boxing, Ideally with the top talent but unlikely in today's age of ducking opponents and protecting fighters. You could have for example 4 fighters box each over a year in 6 x 6 round fights home and away. It would be great if it was competitive enough, maybe even for a belt if possible. We need more stuff like the super 6 where we get to see top talent against each other consistently - anyone got any other ideas to spice things up a bit in the boxing world?
Just want to say I'm not saying boxing isn't in a good state right now but I think it has potential to better than it is. It would be better if boxing was more like darts or tennis where the top talent are playing against each other on a much more consistent basis.
Like the Super Six?
Not meant to be sarcastic btw. I mean, you'd like it to be the Super Six but with more of a league format?
Not as weird as the super six, just 4 top fighters fight home and away 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw - top two fighters compete in number 1s hometown.
I'm aware what I'm proposing is similar to the super six so I'll just re-write the post as...
Should we see more super six (style) tournaments or what are others suggestions to encourage more consistent top level fights where both fighters could be considered in their prime.
We should, but we won't. Fighters are just ducking each other and promoters are playing politics -- add into the mix TV deals for the big fighters, etc.
Just imagine Fury having his "I shook up the world" moment. Seriously, imagine the scenes. It would be hilarious and tragic in equal doses.
For that reason, I want a Fury win. I also expect a Klitschko very late stoppage or boring points win.

Like when he punched himself in the face.
Do you lot see the Fury vs Klitschko fight going the distance?
