Joshua has to be taken longer before we truly know how good he is or can be, but you can't not be impressed by his ability to just blast people. It's exciting that we have a young British heavyweight like this, the division needed it, boxing needed it.

Johnson is known as a durable defensive boxer. He went 12 rounds with Vitali Klitchsko when VK had the highest KO percentage of any champion in history. Granted that Johnson is older now but his MO was not getting stopped at the top level. To see him erased in two rounds is impressive . Joshua has immense power but also quite fast hands for a heavy and throws a range of shots.

From what Hearn said after the fight about the crowd loving his next one, I think it's nailed on to be Chisora.

I get people not wanting him to move up too fast, but Chisora wouldn't be much of a contest imo.

Never seen a full Kell Brook fight. He a good fighter?

Yes mate. Good all round fighter with solid skills and good power. On a huge momentum surge. Expect this fight to be him attacking a technical pot shotter for however long it lasts. Brook tko mid-late is the pick.

Johnson isn't the same fighter he was in 09 though, that's a long time ago he took Klitschko the distance so its hard to read too much into that. But it was impressive, Joshua basically has the blueprint for the perfect Heavyweight build, he looks scary.

I'd back a finish in less personally but the risk of a Hail Mary wipeout shot is too great. Price's right hand could knock any heavyweight in the game over. Why risk it? No need. Chisora can fill the British rival shoes and get experience there.

Price is a no mark really. Good power, good physique but no chin or durability whatsoever. I think Joshua should look beyond Price and to Fury for his next fight.

These are Dan Rafael the chief boxing journalist from ESPN America, a journalist accused of being anti British, tweets on the fight in real time

Wow. Anthony Joshua just dropped Kevin Johnson twice in rd 1. It's an utter destruction. Will be over soon.

blows Johnson away in rd 2. 1st man to stop him. Awesome performance from the future heavyweight champion!

Every1 expected Joshua to win. But he slaughtered a guy who'd never even been hurt much less down. AJ dropped him, ruthlessly KO'd him.

If Joshua never talked and had Eddie Hearn talk for him while Joshua just starred ahead he'd be an absolute badass.

It's all about the marketing..

I gotta admit, I'm warming up to Eddie Hearn. Dude knows his stuff, and puts on good fights consistently.

Check Donald McRae's excellent interview with him in the boxing section on The Guardian. Joshua has a chequered past - history on remand. He's on a continual good-will PR campaign to gloss over it.

He is too self deprecating. If he had a more of a Mayweather type persona he would earn a lot more money.
Behind the scenes they should be carefully laying out his path, but in front if the camera they should be claiming he'll fight anybody anywhere, everybody is ducking him. He doesn't dare who's next. Don't be claiming you're taking things slow and careful.
It would only add to his aura.
The heavyweight division is incredibly weak right now, the fights aren't going to sell themselves so add a few layers to it.

@Classical Mechanic agree with you. Dan Rafael is a bit of a tool but on the money there - let's hope anyway. See my post before for who I'd stick him in with.

I agree, there's a lot of money to be made in the heavyweight division, it's needed a star for over a decade.

Malignaggi is a brilliant commentator/pundit when he's not talking about Manny.

He's a great pundit, to be fair. Gary Neville of boxing.

Saw an interview with Hearne on the iFL boxing channel on Youtube and he mentioned several times how he's had media training with the GB team for the olympics and basically telling us Joshua is very different deep down. Most celebrities have a fake tv side anyway, trained or not.

Malignaggi breaking down the fight while Watt talks in generalisations. It's chalk and cheese between the two

Great performance. Khan vs Brook - Make it happen!

Brook needs to be fighting at a higher level than this. It wasn't even a contest.

Brook to call out Floyd and Queen Khan in 5, 4, 3...

Main event too much of a mismatch for a PPV card.

Formality. Thought Gavin did better than the Sky commentators were giving him credit for but agree with the principle that that ending was always coming because he couldn't deter Brook with power alone at any stage.

Star of the night - Anthony Joshua yet again with an honourable mention to Paulie Malignaggi. Christ isn't it refreshing to actually want to listen to a commentator on a British based fight? Can we fly over Al Bernstein and Jim Lampley every weekend now too...

@cyberman - here's the article I said about - http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/may/26/anthony-joshua-boxing-prison-heavyweight-greatness

Still wouldn't chuck Price at him. Weak chin but an equally powerful punch and it's too much of a gamble. AJ is already above him in the pecking order.

Stick him in with Fury's latest fodder Christian Hammer and Chhisora then go for Klitschko fodder after - Manuel Charr, Odlanier Solis and Leapai.

Avoid Wlad, Povetkin, Fury, Wilder and Price till absolutely necessary.

Build the momentum and the resume of knockouts first. Carry on developing the fear. Klitschko too soon is a derailer.

Yep!

Slowly (not too slowly), but surely does it. No point Joshua being pitted against the best, when he's still learning his trade. I wouldnt even bother fightin Chisora either though - Joshua would rip him to shreads.

Chisora's a journeyman at best & its not a step forward for Joshua to fight him, but in sayin that - it wouldnt do him any harm to beat someone else up that has a big shite-talking mouth like Johnson has..

Shannon Briggs then.

Fair play to him for turning it around, I'd love to talk to him in private and see who the real Anthony Joshua is

Jesus Christ, Brook's voice

It makes me laugh every time, when talking up a fight I struggle to take him seriously sometimes when he talks (obviously when he fights its different!)

Would hate to be Gavin and listen to that commentary again, they were making out someone from the street had just got in the ring with Brook, he never stood a chance but it was a bit patronising.

Either Joshua or Linares and Mitchell for me. IT was a good card in the end but them 2 had the fight of the night and gave it their all. Not to take anything away from the likes of Joshua but really was impressed with both of them. Re the Joshua debate agree with your list of fighters. People will be cynical on him until he gets challenged somewhat, it's not his fault though.

Agree on Mlignaggi as well, he's great to listen to. Like we said before though I do like most the Sky team...Jim Watt is probably the worst on there, he's Sky's version of Larry Merchant I think...it seems like they're trying to ease him out with the likes of Paul Smith and Malignaggi, I'd expect one of them to be at the table in a few years once they retire from fighting full time, maybe even Carl Froch as all of them have done stints on commentary.

Don't know who Brook will fight next but it will be interesting. All the people slating Mayweather for "Ducking" Khan really do miss the irony of Khan basically doing the same thing. It seems a lot of boxing experts dont expect Khan vs Mayweather so he's wasting his time waiting for it, Khan vs Brook would be a massive pay day for both fighters it'd sell out Wembley and is more interesting than any other fight either of them will get.

Froch taking credit for the Brook win at the end as well!! Modesty definitely isn't one of his traits

Brook is set for Brandon Rios next I believe.

The thing is with the Heavyweight division, if you are avoiding Klitschko for now and don't want to quite have him fight the Tier 2 fighters yet then it's pretty much a wasteland of journeyman who may or may not still have a big punch left in them to keep it interesting.

Joshua has only had 13 fights and he's now at the point where until he fights a Fury, Wilder or Klitschko most people are just gonna say he's beating bum's.....yet you don't want to rush him when its inevitiable that he will get there and be there for a long time, he's also going to get ducked by anyone above him in the rankings until they absolutely have to fight him. Let it come in time, if he has to blast through another 4-5 nobodies then so be it.

Khan's physique for the Alexander fight on the left, Algieri fight on the right. Strange how he's gone so much softer.
