Algieri's a tough fight for most at 47. Guy is huge and super fast.

Believe he was best at 140 before he moved up.

If Khan steps in with Mayweather he will get convincingly beaten, they aren't even on the same planet.
Nah. There are only two ways to dominate Khan; KO him or pressure the feck out of him. The current version of Floyd won't do either. Floyd still wins, but it'd be competitive.

khan should win this on pts easy but not impressed by him at all. he's not getting a shot at floyd thats for sure

If Algieri wins this then I'd never watch boxing again. 8-4 at best, could easily be 9-3.

Agreed, not good enough. Not even close.

Is Maidana better than Khan? No, most certainly not!

He lost by unanimous points decision against Khan when they fought; yet Maidana got 2 fights against Mayweather (both fights goin the distance).

Mayweather will dodge anyone that can box with speed now (took 5/6 years for him to fight Manny ffs); so to end his career & break Marciano's record. He wont fight anyone that can go the distance, throw a shitload of punches & win rounds.

Mayweather's last 6 fights have gone the distance, and apart from Manny (who had a crocked shoulder & wasnt the fighter we expected to see) - none of those 5 other fighters throw as many punches as Khan does.

I'd give Khan a chance to win on points against Mayweather; but although Khan's chin looks alot better this past year or 2 (his defence more importantly)- its still a fear-factor for anyone who supports / follows him.

He took quite alot of hard punches on the chin tonight; came through it pretty well & his defence / footwork were pretty good to get the hell out of there, whilst also fightin his way out of it too, so that's a great positive against a touch bastard like Algieri..

Hopefully, after tonights showing - Algieri will get good paydays & plenty of wins now. Seen the interview with him on Box Nation & it was brought up that Algieri's been living in student digs until recently & his last number of fights have been for $3k.

He seems like a real nice guy too & it's hard not to love a tough bastard with a fighting heart like his either..

Highlights from last night for those that missed. 2 mins in Khan fight starts.

Clear win for me, too many overhand rights eaten though. Glad to see even at this weight he can take good, clean punches when needed to - though that opens up the issue that he shouldn't have had to.

I seriously doubt it would be competitive, Khan really isn't in the same league as either Mayweather or Pacquiao, it's odd people think he is especially after last nights fight. Algieri was the perfect opponent for Khan (similar to how Devon Alexander was) a good fighter but one who suits Khan's style....and even then Khan struggled at times. Mayweather is a master at exploiting peoples weakness and neutralising their strengths and Khan isn't that much of an intelligent fighter (I'd argue Algieri outsmarted him at times.) The fight would be similar to the Pacquiao one I'd feel, Mayweather will do the job and people will slate him for it. I really feel any good welterweight Khan will struggle against, the likes of Thurman, Brook, Broner, Porter and of course Mayweather and Pacquiao would all fancy their chances.

Khan deserves credit for this win, Algieri's a world class opponent in my eyes.

He's a tricky fighter but I don't think he's world class, if Algieri is world class then there's a case for about 10-15 other welterweights to be world class as well. He will have a decent career as a gatekeeper I feel, a step up for fighters before fighting the likes of Mayweather, I doubt he'll ever get higher than that level.

It's pretty obvious you don't like Mayweather due to the fact you've completely dismissed him, I wouldn't say he dodges anyone with speed at all. By default most the fighters he's in with are quick. Khan is quicker but then Khan is probably the fastest in the division behind Mayweather, that doesn't mean he ducks people...he can't fight himself and it's arguable if Khan has done anything to actually deserve a fight with Mayweather.

Khan swings and misses a lot, throwing punches isn't always a good thing when that's happening, as you said yourself Mayweather's fights go the distance, if Khan keeps missing then it doesn't look good and Mayweather will pick up on it. It also makes him vulnerable to knock outs, something most of Mayweather's opponents try and neutralise. IF you give Mayweather an opportunity then he can knock people out, despite the lack of knock outs in recent fights he's a very good offensive boxer when he needs to be.

I'd be surprised if Khan took more than 3/4 rounds against Mayweather, he just doesn't seem in that league. Algieri is a tough boxer but he's not half the fighter Mayweather is and a lot of people are saying Khan only won it by 2 or 3 rounds.

not this fight only but the commentary for Box Nation is embarassing as well, so biased. They were basically silent for all of Algeiri's punches but the minute Khan landed anything it was as if he was on the verge of stopping the fight, very odd.

Gareth A Davies at the Telegrapgh reports the fight times as the following for tonight folks:

8pm - Selby.
9pm - Mitchell.
10pm - Joshua.
11pm - Brook.

Khan v Mayweather has to be made, its what the majority wants. The Manny fight took way to long, can't surely be more than a couple of fights better than Khan in terms of excitement if any at all. Mayweather not knocked anyone out in 13 fights since Hatton, that was like 10 years ago. Don't count Ortiz as he wasn't even looking, blind cheap shot punch by Mayweather after nodding and smiling at him, then throwing when he saw Ortiz looking at the ref. The media in America clearly thought the same. So it will be all about if Amir can get his fast hands on Floyd and not get too silly in there.

If Maidana gets two shots, why not Khan, Khan beat him ages ago as well. Khan just has to keep taking fights and keep the pressure on. He's #1 already on WBC he said so yes he has actually done something to deserve a shot. Lets not forget Mayweather said on Twitter he'd let the fans decide, they all said Amir and he went with Marcos.

Didn't even realise Khan was fighting! SSN are fecking useless for non-Sky fights.

Good win for Khan, only going by highlights but it seemed a decent fight.

Howard Foster with a similar to Groves-Froch, contentious stoppage of John Ryder. Turn out for the books - bookies favourite stopped.

Foster, fwiw, has been excellent every time I've seen him since that Groves stoppage.

Caved in and bought the boxing cos there's nothing else on TV tonight...that John Ryder stoppage was a bit early, Howard Foster seems to have a habit of that now!

Sky's commentary is a breath of fresh air compared to Box Nation's with Khan's last night.

Malignaggi makes the difference. An active fighter that is articulate and intelligent (well I think so anyway) and adds great insight into the action.

It's an extra safe stoppage isn't it, all the ingredients were there but there's just something a bit too early about it still. Not outrageously bad but as Malignaggi said, Ryder has himself to blame for being in that position and not reacting enough to close it up or avoid further punishment.

Yeah I like Malignaggi, he's interesting to listen to and like you say actually being an active boxer makes the difference. I do like the whole set up really. Adam Smith and Johnny Nelson have good chemistry and the rest of the team with Paul Smith, Glenn McCrory and even Froch are quite good to listen to.

Was Cleverly added to this card late?? I'm sure he wasnt on it a few weeks ago.

Yes mate. 14 seconds to win it too. Cracking shot. That poor bloke was so out of depth though. Don't particularly like Clev but that's hell of a way to deal with an opponent.

Really good shot to be fair to him. That guy looked so embarrassed at the end, I think the highlight was Sky showing the whole fight as a replay...3 times!! Cleverlys going the right route for a title, Brahmer is the weakest of the champions. I couldn't see him beating Stevenson and we've all seen what happens when he fought Kovalev last time.

Tough division for Selby. Lomachenko is extra special and Walters is one hell of a fighter too. Mares and Russell Jnr are excellent boxers as well.

This should be a tear up!
