Wlad needs to fight someone big who he can't bully. Won't be happy with his selection until its Fury or Wilder (only if he beats Stiverne, assuming Stiverne takes the fight).

Matthew Macklin wiped out mid rounds. Straight TKO off one punch in a fight that he was completely swarmed and out worked. Can't see any way back for him at world level now. Could be a British and European level gatekeeper in the division like Ricky Burns if he still wants to fight.

Not sure who would give Wlad any competition at this point given that he's dispatched of two #1 contenders in his last three fights. Also a bit baffled as to why Fury is wasting his time fighting a scrub like Chisora when he's currently the #4 contender and could easily be angling for a title shot.

That left hook by Wlad was absolutely devastating. One of his most enjoyable fights over the last few years.

The winner of Fury/Chisora will be next in line for a title shot, already been confirmed.

Predictions for this weekend then?

Regarding the main domestic event, Cleverly on points probably. Think he'll out-work Bellew again, who is more talk than actual talent. Hope it's a good old fashioned tear-up though & Bellew gets stopped.

If you mean Pac-man, think he'll win easy.

I'm split on Cleverly Bellew. I'm torn between agreeing with you on the Cleverly points or Bellew by stoppage.

Pacquiao will win but I can't see it being comfortable. There is some excellent analysis here from HBO by Tim Bradley and Virgil Hunter that is well worth a watch...

As for the other fights:

DeGale to scrape past a very tough fighter in Periban - not looking good in the process
Joshua rd 2 KO
Quigg late TKO.
Smith UD.
Groves early TKO.
McDonnell in a close decision. Can see knockdowns traded en route.

Everyone wants it to happen except Mayweather, I imagine he will make a gesture at negotiating but nothing more. The guy is a woman-beating coward.

It would break all records if it went ahead.

Mayweather uses the drug testing angle everytime this fight is brought up so I don't know what to believe. I don't really care so long as the fight goes ahead. It's a long shot though I agree.

Rumour is that it'll be Floyd's last fight in September. But this rumour always pops up when we're in Floyd or Manny's fight week. Definitely think it'd break the 3m PPV target. Floyd must be feeling the pressure. Running out of opponents on Showtime, Canelo taking the Mexican dates back with big fights (Cotto, GGG) on the horizon, the mass media starting to turn against him and accusing him of ducking (ESPN First Take, Footlocker advert).

Mayweather would deal with Pacquaio now. 3-4 yeas ago it would've been closer but Id have still backed Mayweather.

11pm for tonight I believe @SambaBoy

Anyone got a decent river for the fight?

A great win for DeGale but that was a horrendous inside job stoppage. As soon as Perriban was down the ref was waving it off. Didn't even count a second. Don't get me wrong, DeGale would have probably finished the job had it continued but Perriban was not in any state to have that waved off without even a count. Poor show.

Is it me or is the card overloaded?

You'd expect a seasoned fighter like Sprott to last more than a minute and a half... unless Joshua genuinely is the real deal, and he looks it.

And then you look at the state of the heavyweight division today. Joshua is nailed on as a world champion.

Joshua needs a better test. Enough of this tip toeing around has beens and fight some fecker that will test you.

You're lost in the olden days. Sprott was stopped in round 1 of his last outting too. He's a shot fighter. This was a weaker test than Joshua's previous fight unfortunately.

Kevin Johnson will be a good matchup. Then moving forward with David Price, Tony Thompson, Manual Charr in mind it seems.

For what it's worth, Wlad likes Anthony. Has called him the future. It seems a fight between the pair is unlikely unless forced. I'd imagine if AJ gets that far, he'll go for the Wilder / Stiverne route to a title.

Indeed, 37 minutes as a professional boxer after 10 fights really shows how cautious his promoters are being. Makes me think he might have a glass jaw, however, his speed is so impressive, quickest in the division by far.

Aye, he's a fast fecker alright.

Was stopped as an amateur I believe but there's no longer a heavyweight out there that hasn't been stopped or at least dropped out there any more.
