The Reality Draft: Main Thread (Finals)

Entering this draft and then losing interest due to being unlucky is a bit like entering a normal snake draft and losing interest because somebody stole your pick ahead of you. The random chance deciding huge parts is what the entire draft is about. I think it was quite clear from the start that this draft would probably lack the passion that the managers has over totally hand picked teams, but that the drafting would be a lot more fun almost like a lottery game.

So far I think that is true, it really has delivered in terms of being a funny draft.

I was actually speaking about Goetze haha. I think he's easily the best pick in this category. Proven more so than others in his age group (bar a select few). With most of these picks you can always argue and see the talent, but with Goetze, you have a player which his performances thus far already back up the hypothesis.

Strootman was well on his way to that before his injury, key figure in both national team and Roma's superb run of form at the start if last season.

It is obscene to argue that Gotze is more proven than Kroos or Neymar. At a stretch I would say Varane is also more proven than him.

Gotze has not had the performances you talk about for more than a year now. Even if his last year at Dortmund, he took a back seat to Lendowski and Rues.

Goetze's stock is low? What the hell, didn't he just score the winner in a World Cup final? I would have happily taken him if Neymar was picked.

Can't wait for games to turn into ogba threads and "SAFs biggest mistake", etc. The kid is really good but his head isn't right, discarded him quickly on the basis of mentality even if the furious muppet voting he would get was enticing.

Funnily enough I don't think he'd have suited the team we have now, I prefer a Herrera type midfielder.. but in the side I'm looking to build, he's ideal - strong, powerful, good engine and I'll give him freedom of movement.

Why? I'd argue you get even more engrossed when you handpick a team to work around the random events.

@Raees having an absolute mare here.

Ohh bollocks, I have seriously messed up big time in terms of Draft etiquette. I thought I saw others referring to youngsters but they were obviously using hints and not names - oops.

I thought you would fancy a 4-4-2 and some Walkers crisps.

I do fancy that. Out of principle more than anything - but yes, I do.

The naked truth is that Beckham is a huge problem for me. His presence affects how I get to use both Pavel and the grand Dutchman. I like Beckham very much - so it ain't that. But he's a rigid bastard. Hard to move around on the chessboard as I normally like to do with my players.

You don't HAVE to play him though. Trust me, with the number of options cropping up last night I even checked out Boniek in a Di María LCM role, and dropping him altogether. I must have run through 20 different lineups and there was one that kept smiling back at me. I just can't miss a single player now though. :nervous:

Very true. I do have some names on my list. And if one of them survives, then...yes. We'll see.

It IS low on the caf. If you were to ask as to who is better between Goetze and Rues, it will be a landslide in latter's favor.

Are we stopping the draft at this round are we ?
No, the overall timeline of the draft since start has been players born between 1950 and 1985, this was the only round where we had to pick 90s born players.

So players born between 1985 and 1990 could never have been picked, and after this round we can freely discuss 90s born players who weren't picked as we return to 1950-85 timeline for the rest of the rounds.

He didn't start the game and was not a star of the world cup bar that moment.

Doesn't make sense, why would his stock be at an all time low after he's won his country the world cup?
Are you being obtuse on purpose? Bar that goal he did not even had a good WC. His last season form for Bayern was also average at best. I don't think he makes Bayern's first team when everyone is fit. His development at Bayern has not been upto expectations at all.
