The Real Caftards Fantasy League 2012/13

Just seen I'm temporarily top of the caf league! Get in!

Really annoying that Hazard has gone up to 10 despite not playing this week. I put Nasri in for this week at 8.5 and had 1.4 in the bank so was going to swap them after this weekend. Since then Hazard has risen from 9.7 to 10. Any alternative suggestions? Don't see Nasri doing much at Stoke away. Might swap for Santi Carzola instead, but I do think Hazard is going to score a lot this season.

Got 6.1 left to spend on a striker now. Thoughts from Ruiz, Lambert, anyone else?

Santi Carzola or Hazard? Hazard option involves me swapping out Petric for someone at least 0.1 mil cheaper

Van Persie brought me in 30 points, chuffed.

Cazorla at the minute for me, I think he will be better of the course of the season. Hazards had a slightly better start though.

My main hesitation is that with Lampard playing less I think Hazard might take over penalty duty.

If I go for Hazard then I need to make a saving of 0.1 somewhere else. But not sure where this would be best made. Current line up:

Krul: 5.5

Ivanovic: 6.7
Jenkinson: 4.6
Rangel: 5.1
Shawcross: 5.0
Rafael: 5.5

Fellaini: 6.7
N. Dyer: 5.8
Y. Toure: 8.0
Nasri: 8.5
Kagawa: 8.5

Torres: 10
Tevez: 9.4
Petric: 6.2

I also have 1.4 in the bank

I don't even know if Petric will start now that Berbatov's there. Ruiz or Lambert might be a better shout and would make the necessary saving if I wanted to bring Hazard in.

I was looking at Petric, until they bought Berbatov. Not sure anymore if he will start Martin Jol likes Berbatov.

If you have to save cash then Ivanovich is overpriced there, Chelsea don't keep the clean sheets to warrant that, and they've signed another right back as well.

The other one is Kagawa, I really really wanted him, but having watched him last weekend I'm not so sure now.

Ivanovic can't be dropped right now.
Jenkinson will loose his place when Sagna is back.
Our defence is a catastrophy at the moment so no use buying anyone there.

I'd be careful with Nasri, Kagawa and Petric too.

Overhauled the team, hopefully the points deficit will be outweighed by the new players performing.

My team right now:

Krul: 5.5
Jaaskelainen: 4.5

Taylor: 5.0
Gibbs: 5.5
Zabaleta: 6.0
Rafael: 5.5
Clyne: 4.0

Hazard: 9.8
Nolan: 6.0
Cazorla: 9.0
Dyer: 5.7
Ben Arfa: 7.6

Lambert: 6.0
Tevez: 9.4
Torres: 10.1

With 1.4 in the bank. Pretty happy with most of that. Only change I want to make is to get rid of Zabaleta for Demel and get Toure instead of Nolan in midfield.

Taylor I presume is Neil Taylor? He's out for the season so you might have to transfer him out as well.

The other thing I would mention is that you have to play with at least 3 defenders, so the most you can have is 7 attackers.

Hazard: 9.8
Nolan: 6.0
Cazorla: 9.0
Dyer: 5.7
Ben Arfa: 7.6

Lambert: 6.0
Tevez: 9.4
Torres: 10.1

So either Dyer, Nolan or Lambert has to sit out every week, that's an expensive option sitting on your sub bench Routlegde is cheaper than Dyer and Pogrebnyak is cheaper than Lambert. You can save some money downgrading one or even both of those.

It's not like the subs ever play, sometimes it is wiser to bench the likes of Tevez when e.g. Southampton have easier home fixtures. Also, at 6.0 I think Graham is better value than Lambert. Swansea is the better team and he has better players behind him to assist his goals.

I see your point but Im more of the mindset that having many good options is better than having a very strong 4-4-2 with 3 shite players who will be sitting on the bench every week. Almost every week one out of Dyer, Nolan and Lambert will play in a fixture where it is likely a smart move to leave them out for the round. Even Ben Arfa and Cazorla could be preferred on the bench some gameweeks. With my team I will most likely have most of my offensive players in "easy" fixtures every week.

Im pretty sure Pogrebnyak is a worse choice than Lambert despite being cheaper. Graham is possibly better, but Ill stick with Lambert as long as he performs. No reason to drop him for now.

What do you guys think about defenders this year? With us, City and Chelsea looking frail defensively, is there any value at all except for the offensive cheap full backs like Rafael and Gibbs (and Sagna when he returns) in the top teams? Rotating cheap defenders so the ones with easy home fixtures are always the ones playing seems the best option to me.

I had Lambert, Heitinga and Ivanovic on the bench and Cole in the starting lineup. How come Lambert wasn't auto subbed on?

Anyone think it's worth taking a punt on Michael Owen?

He's not appeared on the transfer list yet but if he's cheap?

You want all your players (even the subs) to be definite starters in their team IMO.

Heitinga, Ivanovic and Cole didn't play this past weekend, so you only had two defenders that played. The formation rules say that you have to have at least three defenders playing. If they had brought on Lambert for Cole it would have been a illegal formation either 2-5-3 or 2-4-3. If Heitinga had played he would have come on for Cole, but Lambert could only come on for a defender if you had three other defenders that actually played.

I know what you mean about Kagawa. I'm keeping him in for now as I think he'll do better against Wigan than Nasri will at Stoke. I've taken Nasri out for Hazard and replaced Petric with Graham.

I've kept Rangel, Ivanovic and Rafael in defence because they are all defenders that liked to attack and occasionally get on the score sheet.

Ah, of course. Cheers. Sucks for me then.

That is one good team.
I had a good start but now used my WC and I've got 9 of your players and 10 if you choose Demel.

Swans still look strong. Michu, Dyer, Routledge.. now only interesting to see what Swans defenders get to start now that they've got Chico and Taylor off for a while.

I wonder if Maicon is a good bet at 6.5. He is very attacking and is bound to earn som clean sheets, will he be starting anytime soon though?

Kagawa & Van Persie still showing as fit to play.

Hope so, otherwise my team will be looking decidedly thin.

Edit: Kagawa now showing as 50%, RvP still fit to play.

My sub midfielder is Routledge.

I've put Kagawa on the bench, I don't think he'll play. Going for a front three now instead of a 5 man midfield, so I've got Graham, Torres and Tevez up front.

I'd put Routledge on. They're playing Villa and Routledge has been in good form recently, likely to play and contribute.

Just noticed Krul's going to be out for a while. Have already made my sub for the week, so don't know whether to just accept no points on that front or whether to take the four point hit and stick someone else in.

Going to take the joke that is Tim Krul out of my team. I need a keeper that can get more than 4 points on a consistent basis.

Do you guys reckon Adebayor will start?

This is my team right now:

Vorm

Rangel
Kompany
Gibbs

Michu
Hazard
Cazorla
Mata

Tevez
RVP (Captain)
Adebayor

Subs: Kagawa, Cudicini, Connoly, Lopez

----------

So I've got a weak bench but the starting XI is strong. I might give captaincy to Adebayor as I can see him scoring this week against Southampton, and I don't know if RVP will start 100%.

Thoughts?

Wasn't happy with yesterday's results, but just seen it was quite a low scoring week, and I'm top of the caf league, yeo!
