The official 360 v PS3 v Wii fanboy thread

Again, how can that be? You just don't need any of them! They aren't forced upon you like when you need a lightgun to play a gun game for example...:wenger:

Fair enough!

If you honestly think Nintendo were forced down that route, then you are plain and simply wrong and misled
.

Well, their Gamcube was largely a failure and I don't believe they could have challenged MS or Sony in the HD gaming market, so they went down a different route. Whoever thought of the Wii must have gotten a nice bonus I'm sure!

Have you played the DS at all? Games like Zelda and Mario Kart are given excellent new leases of life (and yet again are the best of their type). It's quite frankly even more brilliant than the Wii.

If Sony can replicate that, it should be interesting.

Nope, never played it, opted for a PSP, which in hindsight I regret getting. It has a few good games on it, but it doesn't really offer you anything different from the PS1/PS2. May trade it in when I get back of the hols and give the DS a go.

That's a similar myth to the one about the N64 being a failure. Nintendo made a fortune on both and despite the fact that overall they couldn't possibly compete with both MS and SOny in the financial stakes, they could have done another machine. After all, most people thought that the last time around and look what happened, the Gamecube fitted nicely in between the two in terms of power and had the best range of games. Unfortunately they still didn't (and haven't) embraced the culture of casual gamers who want blood and guts in every title.

The Gameboy/Advance and DS all add weight to that.

Ultimately though it was the fact that the Wii Remote was virtually ready before talk of a new system (as an peripheral to the GCN) that lead to Nintendo focusing on that aspect and since the Gamecube was already an extremely nice piece of kit all round, I don't think they made a bad decision at all.

Fair enough, I'll take your word for it, but I disagree with you on the GC having the best range of games. It had very few games which interested me and I think the PS2 had the largest and most varied library of any console I have ever played, and a library which is still expanding today. Saying that, from what we have discussed tonight, we have different taste in our games:p

Ps2 had 90% shit, shovelware as Weaste calls it.

Here's the Wiki:

Super Puzzle fighter 2 was a great game and Bionic Commando Re-armed can't fail to be great.

Unfortunately most Playstation owners will pass on these great little games. For me those, like the 360 arcade and Wii channel are what interests me most.

I've got loads of Live Arcade games. Some are great.

I play in an online Sensible Soccer league (I was and am a SWOS god!) and get a fair bit of play out of Castlevania and always put on Geometry wars to show off my big HD telly to my friends.

If MGS4 is so good, why have I managed to keep you away from it with a conversation about Princess Peach on the Wii?

Think about it, closetboy.

I know you love my company so I thought would give you more of it:D

I'm just finishing my cup of tea then I will go on it, MGS4 requires no distractions:nono:

PC fanboys dont count then?

Fanboys do not exist apart from people wanting to justify their purchases and don't have a clue what they are generally talking about. Other people simply prefer a particular system over another for whatever reason and repsond to nonsense thrown at them for no particular reason, which then leads to Internet bitch fests where all of the facts go out of the window. If you like Halo, you like Halo, I like Guinness, other hate it, it doesn't cause such arguments. If you like to strap the Wiimote to your stiffened cock with elastic, then good luck to you.

At the end of the day, on the technical and value for money level, PS3 > XB360 > Wii, in that very simple and factual order.
