I agree with all of this apart from the one highlighted, thats just ridiculous to say the PS3's exclusives are crap, Drakes Fortune for example is a great game and they have a few good ones coming up this year

Oh and Benzema? are you kidding me? Kuyt please:drool:

so in short xbox 360 > ps3

You don't know that. You presume it will be better.

I have seen a detailed breakdown of what the update includes, which all combines to greatly improve the online play of the PS3, all for free.

Im sure you have but with the PS3, it all looks good on paper.

Can you name me some of these better games? The majority of games are available on both PS3/360, with the obvious exclusives only available to each. Your superior online claims will not be valid as of tomorrow, as both PS3 and 360 will be able to do the majority of the same things whilst playing online, the difference is one lot will be paying £40/year for it.

Crap games?! What a load of nonsense from somebody who has probaby never played the PS3. RSV, RSV2, COD4, Uncharted, Reistance, Warhawk, MGS4, GT5 with the likes of Little big Planet, Resistance 2, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 along the way along with many more suggests anything but a 'crap' game library.

For all the claim of PSN being shit I can say I have only ever had 1 problem with it where it wasn't allowing me to connect online to COD4, other than that in the 15 months I have had the console I have never had a problem with it. Firmware 2.40 will, as mentioned above, make both consoles online service almost identical.

It may be more expensive but for what you get in the box, it is much more value for money than both the 360 and the Wii.

These being available on both (and RSV1 on 360 first) But still, I agree with everything you said

I was kind of with you up to this point.

Although the 360 does have the much bigger library of games and those you listed for PS3 are all much of a sameness aren't they? Still some crackers though.

I'll still maintain get all three and a decent gaming PC. If money is an issue, get a 360. If you are after gadgets like the Blue Ray and can afford the games, get a PS3. If you are after something different and fun, get a Wii.

Most importantly though, get a mid - high range PC.

Just bought a PS3 40GB with 2 wireless controls and 5 games for £250.

Next purchase: A 42'' LCD HD-ready Phillips with Pixel Plus HD for about £700.

Jacob that is a brilliant deal for the PS3, you got a link to the website that gave you that deal?

I'd like to think I've got a decent gaming PC, and I will most likely pick up one of the 360 or the Wii at some point in time. However 360 exclusives tend to come to the PC anyway so that is what is holding me back from buying one, I don't see the point in shelling out close to £300 for a console for games which I can buy, eventuall anyway, on my PC.

I still stand by that the PS3 is much more value for money that the other two consoles, built in Blu-Ray, built in Wi-Fi, access to a free online service, pre-fitted 40GB HDD which can be upgraded as you wish. It really is a no brainer for me.

Yes, but you can't just walk into a shop and buy a game without thinking ffs same old shit, but at £50.

Plus, I thought you and Weaste didn't compare the Wii to a PS3? It's arguably much more enjoyable anyway, cheaper (plus has free online and Wi-Fi too), and is just fresh. About £200 cheaper too.

So for my money, the Wii is the best value.

My games tend to cost me £39.99 when I buy online, £44.99 if I go in store. Very rarely do I see a game for £50.

I don't compare the Wii to the PS3 in the sense that I don't think Sony and Nintendo target the same audience (We've discussed this before so we won't go down this road again). The PS3 costs £299 plus a game, the Wii costs around £185 plus a game, which for old technology and for a console which comes without a DVD player inside, I think is quite expensive and anything but value for money (In my opinion). Add to the fact that every new game for the Wii seems to come with a new peripheral to play with and the Wii isn't as cheap as it may seem on the outside.

Add £110 and get the PS3 and you get a superior console in pretty much all aspects (Technologically anyway), along with those other featuers mentioned in my other post.

So I rate the PS3 as the best value for money console out there at the minute, but that's just me. Some will agree and others will not.

You keep regurgitating the same old rubbish about the Wii. New peripheral every game? You sound like Weaste. Have you even played a Wii or seen these 'peripherals'. Hypocritical since you asked someone earlier had they even played a PS3 when they were wrong about something.

Games aren't all about graphics you know and so far most 'next gen' games have been knock-offs of games out for the PS1, let alone PS2/Xbox. So if you want to bang on about old technology, I'll bang on about rehashes of old games. Ones that offer nothing new over the old ones, apart from a few extra polys floating around (hardly even that in some cases).

You might like these gadgets in a console, but I buy a console to play games. The Wii is cheaper, games are more varied and is just much more interesting to play that either of the other two consoles.

One final thing, how much was the PS3 on release and how much were the games? You can argue now about the price drop, but it wasn't always that way now was it. £200+ on top of the price of the Wii for what amounts to a glorified PS2 isn't great, the blue-ray drive saves it though.

This is interesting, because there are certain games that a lot of PS3 owners don't really appreciate or maybe even know about. Warhawk is up there as one of the best titles on the system and one of the best examples of online gaming full stop. Super Stardust HD is another that most people haven't even bothered with, and it's a shame.

I know, that's the problem with these next gen systems. The Gamecube and to a lesser extent PS2 had crap loads of hidden gems and niche games. Lets hope the PS3 picks up in that area, because that's one of the main things I'm waiting for before I purchase.

I have played a Wii, not with the peripherals it has, but I have played it nonetheless. Perhaps the 'new peripheral with every game' comment was misjudged, I am merely pointing out that the Wii does have a lot of accessories, that is all.

Your a much more experienced gamer than me so I am not even going to argue with you on this one. What I will say though is that I have been impressed with all aspects of the games that I have played with the PS3.

I got mine for £425 + a game. The games tended to be more at the £44.99 mark than at the £39.99. That may seem steep but again for what you get inside the PS3 I see it as value for money. Some stand alone Blu-Ray players cost more than the PS3 when it originally came out, and it is well known the PS3 is one of the best Blu-Ray players out there, and it can be upgraded to support the latest advances. And I think calling it a glorified PS2 was harsh, particularly when all the Wii seems to have added is motion sensing control.

I've yet to buy a single game of the PSN Weaste, care to recommend me some?

Accessories that are not needed at all and are just super-cheap fun little additions. THey are shells for the Wii remote to slot into, and they do actually change the gameplay slightly in your own mind. Kind of like £5 placebos :D

I really can't see how they can be turned into negatives!

And I think calling it a glorified PS2 was harsh, particularly when all the Wii seems to have added is motion sensing control.
That, of course, wasn't true of the machine I was making a point. Under the hood it's a technological masterpiece, but on top all people know about is the games. As such the games are just the same ones that you paid good money on the PS2 for. Weaste uses the term shovelware (which I like BTW), but whether you like it or not, Sony created that with their awful disregard for quality that still exists through to the PS3.

Oh and the motion sensing control is a brilliant idea, since the first and most important part of good gameplay is the user input. Without good controls, you can have all the fancy graphics and story in the world and still a shit game.

Nintendo with the Wii and DS are doing things differently and should be applauded for that. Sony wish they had thought of that, hence the panic decision to drop the rumble and add sixaxis (which was barely thought out properly), oh and:

I'm not saying their negatives as such, just saying their are too many accessories for the Wii for my liking.

Like I said, I am enjoying the PS3 and its games more than I have done with that of the PS2 and its games. I'm sure that will continue well into the future aswell, particularly with its line-up over the next 12 months.

They were forced to do something differently rather than choosing to do it out of their own free will. Like you say though, their products are a huge success, and they should be applauded for that.

And I briefly saw that article before, it's interesting to say the least, but I'll wait for more info from Sony before I make a decision on it.

I'm not saying their negatives as such, just saying their are too many accessories for the Wii for my liking.

Again, how can that be? You just don't need any of them! They aren't forced upon you like when you need a lightgun to play a gun game for example...:wenger:

They were forced to do something differently rather than choosing to do it out of their own free will. Like you say though, their products are a huge success, and they should be applauded for that.

If you honestly think Nintendo were forced down that route, then you are plain and simply wrong and misled.

Have you played the DS at all? Games like Zelda and Mario Kart are given excellent new leases of life (and yet again are the best of their type). It's quite frankly even more brilliant than the Wii.

If Sony can replicate that, it should be interesting.
