Biggest credit for him is how he turned the tide from the ultimate negativity surrounding the team after 2 poor results to a positive atmosphere. I always thought his main problem is failing to deal with the pressure when his team is failing, but he did absolutely brilliant this time. His actions towards fans, defending his players, keeping us focused and going forward, while putting media in their right place.

Forget tactical things. His attitude to deal with the poor start and 2 terrible losses was better than anything he has done previously in his career in such situations imo.

Can't wait until he's gone. No team is winning the prem by playing that way, not in this era anyway.

Credit where it's due, Jose has got his selection and tactical approach absolutely spot on for this game and we've made a solid outfit in Watford look mediocre as a result.

The players are also 100% behind him, you can see it in their general attitude on the pitch. The fans are constantly singing his name too. If we can sustain this level of performance on the pitch and Jose keeps the terrible statements in the press to an absolute minimum then he may just turn it around.
Sadly attitude gets you nowhere if you she'll out those types of performances.

You're going to hate Woodward (Martial's guardian angel) when Jose is shown the door before him
Not sure get your point. Are you saying that if Jose goes before Martial We'll regret it? What does Martial matter, he's just a player and not a big time one at the moment.

Or are you saying we'll regret it if Jose goes before Woodward?

Nah I thought I was in the Martial thread. Quoting you was a mistake.

I am neither Jose In or Out. If he delivers the goods, he can stay. Otherwise, he can leave.

But I can't help hoping he somehow turns this around spectacularly. Imagine going deep into the CL and either winning the league or finishing just short, and doing better than all the hipster managers. Would be a real slap on the face of those journalists who were feeding on our negativity like vultures, and those who just hate Jose no matter what (Delaney).

Curiously enough, I think that Woodward banner helped. It fed his ego and made him realize the fans still back him, where before he probably had reservations as to whether their support was wholehearted. Well, its' worked out for the good I suppose.

I'm not his biggest fan but I too hope he wins the league here. The gnashing of teeth in the media will bring tears to my eyes.

I didn’t see anything from the performance to suggest we cant win the premiership. Every win From last 25 years odd, Champions have to grind out and win ugly, even in this era. Watford is not an easy place to win this season. They will surprise many teams this season. Even winning only 1-2 and down to ten men I thought we had better opportunities to increase our lead tbh.

only players like DDG, Lukaku, Pogba can get into top sides is our main problem ! We haven't addressed our defence and wingers situation rightly in last 5 years !

I really hope that would change soon and when it happens we can enjoy Jose a lot better !!

By selling Darmian/Rojo/Jones/Mata/ and releasing Young / Velencia next year, we can accomdate few more defensive players by not shedding too much money!

Another 100 Mil can fix our defence with 50 on right winger can take us to next level !!

The issue I have is LVG did this and replaced our previous lot with naf. It’s so difficult to make good signings it seems.

Just got back from the game. The fans are all well and truly behind him, well the ones at Watford were anyway.

It's good to see. I feel he doesn't help him self with some of his comments but I am backing him 100%.

Not really.....anyone without a white stick and a golden retriever wanted Mane, Eriksen, VVD and a host of others who would have done a great job for us. Fans want world class when often just quality will do.

The club doesn't help itself by making him look weak but thats just the way it goes. I'm a big Jose fan I find it odd why those that arent are changing after the last few games. Even I haven't see anything to warrant that change of heart from them.

After the Spurs debacle, I demanded at least 8 consecutive wins to prove that the Aug crisis is over. 2 out of 8. Keep up the good work.

Goodness me you are demanding. Personally I'm still on my 10 games before judging period, I would like to see him at least finish the season even though I'm not a fan.

Chelsea, the scouse and Pepus are not gonna drop points. If we wanna be the fourth man in the ring for the title we need complete consistency. Otherwise it's just the 4th-5th position, proof that Mou can't win the league for us.

This year has to be wild-firing on all cylinders-win the league or die. It has to be desperate, gritty, filthy. Every match has to be a bloody final, fueled by fear and rage.

Whoever does win the next league for us will do with better CBs.....that I can guarantee.

Come in here to praise him in exact same context. Saved me the time with your post.

What turned it in his favor was the Stratford End at full time vs Spurs. That defiance of everything they read in the papers, all the negativity surrounding the club, especially after a 0-3 defeat, gave Mourinho the power to turn it around. Had they booed or left early, I feel that we would have already parted ways, given the way it was so very nicely set up by the press for Zidane to strut in. That is the power the fans have and often fail to realize.
I can see that moment being the equivalent to the ‘Tara Fergie’ bedsheet.

Couldn't have said any better.

It's his last chance, so he's abondoning his usual methods, and so far it's almost working out, but if he fails, his career at elite clubs might be over, at least for a while.

This is garbage....over because he won trophies here and finished 2nd and who knows what else? His CV trumps every other working manager. He'll walk into top jobs for a while yet hell worse managers than him are still doing that!

Best coach in the world and best coach for us. But hey lets sack him and buy zidane, new shining toy.

This isn't the thread for it, and thankfully, for United's sake, he's doing well for now, but post-United what are the realistic options? Unless you count Inter-tier teams as elite, he wouldn't find another elite side for a while.

Oh, I think a team that wants to win things and would be willing to back him financially would go for him. He wouldn't be short on offers.

Zero chance for that side to be United, Chelsea, Pool, Madrid, Barca, Bayern etc., so we're left with the likes of Inter, who don't seem to be on their way back to the top, at least in the next decade, and that'd probably be his best option. Not exciting for sure.
