I had a dream last night that Mourinho just randomly announced that he's leaving the job and then we hired a positive, highly intelligent, decent f***ing person as our next manager.

And Pogba threw the biggest party the north has ever seen, and everyone from Redcafe was there, and there were lots and lots of strippers. I won't go into more details.

Utd have basically thrown mourinho under the bus that’s why Ed won’t fire him. Had to buy a top cb like he asked... especially with his plans to play a more expansive style....
it’s nonsense to argue don’t give him more money to spend as we now face losing the $$ the club was trying to save if we lose cl qualification.

He’s basically had to shop for discount cb’s. Does anyone believe Jose had £60m budget to spend on one defender and he chose to buy Bailly(whom he pointed out at the time was one for the future) and Lindeloef?

He's had hundreds of millions to spend. The fact we've not ended up with a top-quality CB is his fault.

Jose has already wasted £400 million on ineffective players, what is the point in giving him more money when he will more than likely waste it once again? The club would benefit more by holding back the funds until next summer, at which time a new manager and DoF will be in place.

This season is a right off any way you slice it.

I see the usual Mourinho apologists have gone back into hiding. There is a silver lining here.

Another weekly reminder that the Man is an absolute fraud and a dinosaur of the game. Elite clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern don't sit around wait for mediority to fester the way we have allowed season on season.

Get a proper DOF and a new manager with emphasis on attacking football. We may not win trophies for the first couple of years but atleast the majority will look forward to watching United play attacking football every week.

He should be fired now .. give the new manager until the end of the season...
We play the most boring football in the league ..We are 14 points behind city, 12 behind liverpool ..
sack him . .. and he deserves to be sacked

Absolutely no qualms splashing on the likes of Pogba, Lukaku for insane sums but of course he is forced to go for bargain basement buys for a defender, how convenient, he wanted those defenders, he got them, Lindelof was quality for Benfica and a Swedish international, he's not some two bit defender from a pub league. Bailly is "for the future" but he's 24, at 24 you expect something, and he did have a spell of playing decently but obviously Mourinho has completely dropped him like he has with Fred. Just admit that Mourinho has been a fraud, he's bought fradulently, Matic, due a retirement more than anything, complete waste of money, Lukaku not really suited to us and so on and admit that whilst Ed and the Glazers are no saints, they have spent over 400 odd million on players Mourinho has wanted and that Mourinho has either made them worse, sold them on, or completely dropped them, those are the facts.

He’s probably a season ticket holder that’s already paid for the whole season.

I’m with you 100% by the way. I usually go see United at least 20 times a season. But they won’t get a penny off of me for the foreseeable.

Oh def like, fans moaning - why is the football bad? It was bad last season he should have been sacked in March, who the manager himself has been taken the pi%# out of the fans he should have been sacked, Bragging about his past achievements.

But if the club are happy seeing the Manaager take the mickey out of the clubs fans, and the club itself, what does that say about the boards character and attitude. After been embarrassing against city, what did they do a day later? Announcing they looking extend Young’s contract along with smalling and jones, it’s like rivals are running this club making sure we not competing. But they already nailed fellaini down, no question if we let those players go they be having trouble getting contracts at other clubs, but not this one

I will be a long road down. Buckle up.
Hope the UEL is not the last hurrah of Mourinho.

I didn't realize that Spurs were 9 points clear of us until today, makes sense given all the money Poch spent this summer as well as the wages they off...oh wait

I'd actually start disciplinary proceedings against him after all the negative things he has said about the club.

Sit him down and say he can either choose to go quietly, with a reasonable pay off, or he will publicly stripped of his role while an investigation is concluded.

He is clearly goading the board to get a big pay off. He can languish in obscurity or agree a reasonable severance.

We should have already identified a replacement and given them assurances they will have time to evaluate the current squad whilst this toxic cloud has moved from the club.

Yeah but in fairness they have Alderweireld which makes all the difference

I think the main issue is clear.

Scott mctoninay starts in a lot of games: we finish 2nd.

Scott mctoninay doesn't play: we languish mid table.

Jose in.

Surely you realize that you don't find 25m worth of sponsorship that easily and while we can sale players we will have to bring others to replace them, on top of hiring a manager to replace him. Sacking him is simply a loss, there is no way around it, you can make an argument that it's worth it and that in a way it's an investment but that's a stretch.

What is the cost of not qualifying for the Champs League? Or possibly even missing out on the Europa?

I'm afraid we are on that trajectory and I can't see it changing with Jose at the helm

The Glazer's and Woodward can forego their bonus if there is still a delta, while we can easily dispense with a few players in our fart squad.

Darmian, Valencia, Jones and Rojo should not be drawing a wage. Lukkaku and Matic are close to joining them, while we have the 'middling' players like Herrera, Mata, Bailley and Lindelof (although the later are still in theur honeymoon) who have not done enough at the club.

Waiting in the wings we have plenty of lads getting ready to step up who cost nothing and are a fraction of the wages; Perreira, Dalot, Tunzebe, TFM, Mctom.(squad role), Gomes, Chong, Laird and Greewood.

Reason for Mourinho to stay:
1. More pressure/bad publicity on the owners/Woodward meaning that the likelihood that we will apoint a DoF increases. (Only objective reason i can see for the fans to not wanting him to be sacked.)
2. "back the manager regardless..." mantra. (Do we support the club or the manager?)
3. "Only 1/3 of the season has been played, we should give him time". (No indications of improvements during his tenure at the club.)
4. Replacing the manager is only a short fix, rinse and repeat (Unless the next manager is Moyes, it is higly unlikely that the football played will be worse.)
4. Always something to talk about regarding the club, press conferences etc. (The club is turning into a reality show)

Reasons for Mourinho to get the sack:
1. Results on the pitch(EL win and a cup first season 2. place last year was not deserved, from a statistical point of view)
2. Style of play(Not the most entertaining and progressive football)
3. Lack of improvements in the players(Not only JMs fault, but still)
4. Throwing players under the bus in the press(Not the ideal method in gaining loyalty and support from the players)
5. Our best player is reluctant to sign a new contract, and our next best player wants out.

I think we can all agree that no single person is solely to blame for the situation we are in at the moment. The players/Mourinho/the board/Woodward should all share some blame, but thinking that the owners will sack themselves or Woodward is not realistic, and the best we can hope for is a DoF that controls the footballing related part of this club more or less autonomous (i think we will appoint a DoF or something like it, but the board/Woodward will still stick their noses in decisions they don't have experience in). Replacing half of the squad with new players is not possible given the current transfermarket and the wages our players are on. The only option that is left is replacing the manager yesterday or when CL qual is mathematically impossible (ideally he should not have been appointed, nor given a new contract).

We are closer to the bottom of the table than to City, -1 GD, with barely any excitement in our play.

With the new deal and the increase in market pool money, not being in the CL should represent at least around 60m€ lost from the UEFA, you can imagine that some sponsors will have clauses that are linked to European football and around 3m£ per matchday, though it's only an estimation I could be wrong. If I try to rationalize the idea of keeping him until CL qualification is mathematically impossible, I would say that it's an arbitration between the inability to do it with Mourinho and without him, it's less costly to do it with him than without him, so if the board believes that it's already unlikely then they will stick with Mourinho.

IIRC players' wages are reduced if we aren't playing European football.

Nah it's not that our fans flip flop, it's that Jose In fans hide when results go bad. One win and they are out shiting on about a good run of form. Most fans who wanted him gone maintained that point of view during our lucky wins over the past few months.

And that is exactly what they were. Luck.

Good point, and you are right they are a number of Mourinho fanboys who hide and only come out after an expected win.

We need to name and shame them!

How can Woodward be blamed for playing Matic in every game and bringing back Lukaku or for the team selection? This is by no means the best 11 United can put out. So it is entirely Jose's fault for doing so. We have Fred, Bailly on the bench and not getting a game while it was Jose who bought them. We have better midfield players than Matic rotting on the bench too.

This is mirroring the Chelsea meltdown season to a tee, and it's gonna spiral out in my opinion. I'm off on holiday on Wed and will miss 4-5 games (coming thick and fast now, these fixtures) so I was having a gander at them and seeing how I think we'll do while I'm away. I'm saying:

United 2 - 1 Young Boys (CL)
Southampton 1 - 1 United
United 2 - 2 Arsenal
United 2 - 0 Fulham
Valencia 0 - 0 United (CL)
Liverpool 2 - 1 United

So, in my eyes, when I come home we'll have scraped ourselves through our CL group but will have taken 5pts from an available 12 in our four PL games. That could leave us around 10th by the time I come home with the Xmas fixtures in the wings.

We could realistically be looking at 14th or something by mid-January.

I think Klopp and Liverpool will go to pound town on us.

Considering how jammy we've been against them under Mourinho, it feels like the game where they will take a massive shit on Mourinho's already nailed coffin.

How have we been jammy against them? They didn’t even create a single chance at Old Trafford.

I did thik that but Jose's quite good at parking the bus against Klopp. I wouldn't be surprised if its a drubbing where DDG keeps it from being a cricket score, but I think we'll escape with a narrow loss.

A reasonable discussion here with Rio involved:

The fecking attitude on him to throw a jibe at martial in that midweek interview when he's probably saved Jose's job over the past few weeks while his best soldiers have repeatedly downed their tools.

Bloody hell ,Joe Cole really struggles with coherency.

Exactly.Martial, and to some extent Pogba, has been keeping Jose in the job.
Its hilarious.

That's what a a Sky article said. Basically saying he's saved his job these last 4 or 5 weeks and he singles him out. No wonder he didn't play well yesterday.

Only way anything changes is if us fans stop going to games but that'll never happen and we'll continue to get served the same old shit.

The worst part he really favours young, smalling, matic, fellaini like these guys are world class players. You got to question the guys mental capacity when he turns to players like that who would have hard time getting into many PL sides. It’s run by people aiming to make money, and priorities’s the bank balance over trophies. They gambling with the club on the back of its cheaper to keep him on hoping to make top 4, instead of firing him, when he is gone it costs them more because he costs us top 4 and he’s gone, so in all we run by idiotcrazy town in yankville. The last three managers will set this club back for years, the longer this board are in place, more dark times are ahead, because we won’t win a PL title under the glazer ownership, they got too many people in place that’s built not to win trophies

Only way anything changes is if us fans stop going to games but that'll never happen and we'll continue to get served the same old shit.

I stopped going to games the day they banked the 80 million of the Ronaldo cash, since then the drive to be the best has been on a shoestring budget, Ferguson has gone and it’s fully exposed what they are, it’s cheaper to make more money than win trophies, and that is a catastrophic board for a club of this size. If fans are that angry with the board boycott, yes many can say it may not make a difference, but if you get enough fans all of a sudden it’s a huge message being sent. But not enough will do that

It is obvious that he will not get sack until we have any chance for top 4. With Moyes and Lvg situation was much worse and we still waited so you must deal with this.

Nope, this season has been worse than Moyes & LVG so far.

I agree with you. And the reason for that is the owners won't have to pay as much (if anything) in compensation. Thats what we are dealing with here - its been obvious for years - a top four chasing regime. I suspect even Fergie was for the chop if he missed out on top 4 later on in his career.
