How so? Since they were over a month ago and as we have all seen the players mentioned have been doing well. No one gave a shit he said any of this until it was twisted into click bait by the mirror. So who is it not helpful to?

Because it’s indicative of a mindset - his job involves managing players between 18-30 and he sounds like a grumpy old man. Anyway, results will cost him his job rather than interviews.

If we fail to finish top 4 and Jose is still with us until the end of the season, what place will we finish in, you guys reckon? My guess would be 7th or 8th.

You want reasons? I will give you some:

1, He is an elite level manager. Unless we have a replacement manager of similar or better ability, there is no point in letting Jose go. There is no point in hiring another manager (which will cost time/money), to see worse results.
2, He is a serial winner. He knows how to win. It may not be pretty, but if a club like MUFC should want to have a "winner" at the helm. Some fans want Poch - but he is not a winner. These are facts, by the way.
3, He won 2 trophies in Season1. He got us our highest league placing since SAF left, in Season2. Given the first 2 seasons, he has bought some goodwill and should be given the opportunity to turn the ship around.
4, I would argue that the ship has already turned. Before the MCFC match, we played 4 matches and got 10 points. CFC got VERY lucky to get a draw, so it could've been 12 from 12. I won't hold the MCFC match against Jose as virtually nobody can beat MCFC in the Emptyhad.
5, In terms of our ability to win games from losing positions - we are great at doing this. Under LVG, for example, when we went behind, it was almost impossible for us to make a comeback. With the current team, there is a 'never say die' attitude which I like a lot.
6, In the CL, we are on course to go into the next round, even though we haven't been in great form.
7, We resume tomorrow against CP with a run of fixtures which are winnable. I want to see how many points we get from them, to get a good idea of whether we have actually improved (and gained consistency) or not.

I will reassess my stance on Jose as further results come in, but as of now, I am Jose IN!

1. Jose arrived at the club with his reputation for being an elite manager barely intact after the Chelsea and Madrid debacles. He will leave the club with his reputation in tatters.

2. He was a serial winner at one time, both domestically and on the European stage, in all manner of different leagues across Europe. At United he has accumulated 2 fairly insignificant trophies, not nearly good enough considering the money he has spent to acquire them. Poch has performed miracles at Spurs given the relatively small transfer budget he has at his disposal, and he has taken them as far as he can (in my opinion). Given 'United money' he could just be the one.

3. But we are currently midtable with no signs of turning it around. You are basing your opinion on hope rather than than logic - you're letting your heart rule your head.

4. Yes we have had a few decent results recently but the performances were far from convincing, against teams a club of our stature should realistically beat with relative ease - Chelsea aside of course. I disagree with your assessment of the City game. Jose admitted defeat before a ball was even kicked. His horribly inept midfield lineup of Matic, Herrera and Fellaini were sent out there to keep the scoreline respectable. Shameful if anything.

5. Agreed, long may it continue, but I fear our luck will run dry eventually. You could also argue that having to rely on comebacks week after week is not something a team of United's stature should be doing, especially when you consider the amount of money this team cost to assemble.

6. Our chances of winning the CL are as remote as our chances of winning PL, slim to none.

7. Palace at home is a game we should be winning by a fairly comfortable margin. See 5 as to why.

Pretty sure the only way he will still be with us next season, despite finishing lower than fourth this season, is if he wins us the Champions League. We'll sack the any manager if they doesn't bring us CL football.

He said that young players are soft and need to grow up. And media and fans attack him about that. No wonder that players today are so soft. It is because they have so much power.
For all of us, Fergie is football god and 1999 team is maybe best team ever. Why? Because they were tough. Today when manager yells on player, whole army of fans say; "oh, poor guy".

For someone who doesn’t like the media writing about us he sure likes to supply them with material.

Jesus Christ this guys embarrassing.

I’m sure giving Rashford the number 10 before earning it did wonders for his supposed ego.

To be truthful my head would be pretty big if one of the biggest clubs on the world spent 30m plus on me as a teenager. That’s where the MANAGER needs to manage!

He has no business discussing his players' lack of maturity in the press. If he learned to keep his mouth shut we would have nothing to argue about.

Fergie did not publically lambast individual players, ever.

The false equivalences the Jose salad tossers constantly come up with regarding him and Fergie to defend their man are beyond laughable. He doesn't belong in the same sentence as SAF.

One manager's consistent ability to adapt and refine his methods over time is a big reason why he was successful for decades running while the other's massive ego and insecurity gets in the way of ever even acknowledging the need to adapt/evolve.

I know this. If you throw most of our players in 1999 team, they would be eaten alive.

You want to know what a terrible mind set is? Being told that what you based your opinion on was false, and then explaining why you were right anyway.

Amen brother!

And another thing, Martial has been performing well recently why the need to mention him?

Add to that the fact that this is the second time he has fought his way back into the starting 11 under Jose... not nice to be name-dropped after all that

Jose didn't do that though.
He has in the past etc etc but in this specific instance he hasn't.
This isnt the first time he has been mistranslated and had the story spread like wildfire but funnily enough it seems to be our own fans willing to cling onto it and have it as a basis to slam him on.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...eals-dealing-pampered-players-worst-boss.html

God damn old men...
But why does he go to the trouble of name dropping his own players? He’s done this several times. I’ve watched him do it. In my opinion this is not a helpful thing to do.

Do you really believe Madrid will want him back?

Perez loves him. Their relationship is excellent. Mourinho's problem there was with some players, never Perez.

I can see it personally unless Solari makes a Zidane esque miracle this season.

My prediction is Mourinho is a gones by the end of summer regardless of how the season will fold on, mostly to Madrid

If we end in Europe League, Pogba will follow him ( to Barca or Juve ) and De Gea will rethink about offers made to him, like PSG or Juve ( if they don't move for Pogba ). Martial is going to stay

I see the idea that he's been "mistranslated" has taken root on here. WTF? If he was mistranslated at all, the difference is so subtle it makes feck all difference.

In this article, sportwitness bend over backwards to give him the benefit of any doubt and this is the kindest way they can interpret what he said ( the article is titled "Jose Mourinho: What Man United manager really said about his players, misleading translations":
“For example, this kid, Luke Shaw, who is currently the national team’s left-back, when I arrived here two years ago, he didn’t know how to compete. He had great potential, yes, but he didn’t know how to compete. When we talk about Luke Shaw, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, we’re talking about kids with great potential but still lack a word I can’t say but that you like a lot… they lack a bit of that.”

Our best guess there is that Mourinho, speaking in Spanish, wanted to say ‘cojones’, which means ‘balls’, but the interviewer then puts forward ‘character’, which Mourinho agreed with, also adding ‘lacking personality and that natural aggression’.

So even the most charitable interpretation is that he's singled out four young players in our squad to say they lack character, personality and natural aggression. The far more realistic interpretation is that he accused them of lacking cojones. Sorry but I'm not seeing any mistranslation here at all and if I was one of those four players I would think my manager is a complete prick for coming out with stuff like this to the press. Even if he has a point (opinions on this may differ) coming out and telling the media that specific, named individuals in our squad lack balls is an almost unprecedented piece of shitty man management.

Not to mention that at least 2 of those immature upstarts have been amongst our best performers this season.

If people want to argue that this squad is good enough to be challenging City under a different manager don't be outraged when the manager slightly criticises some of them (in badly translated quotes) as we sit in 8th. He can't win.

Comparing it to SAF is pointless, he had a squad full of leaders Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Neville, Rio Rooney etc. You had to grow up quick or you were nowhere in those teams. This squad has nothing like that, it's just a squad of individuals all being told they are far better than they are/have achieved.
It all comes back to the same point. None of those players magically became leaders overnight. All of them were afforded the trust of the manager (and a much better functioning system) which helped cultivate them into the players they became.

Not to mention that at least 2 of those immature upstarts have been amongst our best performers this season.

And Lingard was one of our best performers last season. He's also not a "kid". He's 25 years old. Older than both Bailly and Lindelof, for example.

No great surprise that Mourinho chooses to shit on players he didn't sign, of course. Everything he says or does is about distancing himself from everything that goes wrong at the club.

And yet obviously they didn’t, since this was over a month ago and no one gave a feck until is was twisted into to being far worse than it was. In that time martial and shaw have been playing fine, martial playing very well according to popular opinion. So what’s the actual problem? That he told the truth? That he highlighted a problem that very probably undermines his efforts as a manager? I’ll give a for instance; let’s say martial goes to his entourage(as Jose puts it) and says “manager says I need to work on a part of my game to make me better”. The entourage says “nah, you’re already the best you don’t need to work harder.”. That’s a problem don’t you think?

Except you're just guessing this happened.

How can someone not read this post and be really disappointed? The guy is a massive problem yet there are a few poeole that will NEVER see a problem with his behaviour. What is the advantage of talking about your own players like that? Can one of the pro José guys please explain why it’s a good idea to criticise young players in public.

I’m not quite sure what point you’re making but it’s certainly no more of a problem for Mourinho to deal with than it is for any other manager dealing with the peers of Rashford et al at other PL clubs.

Although I’ve yet to hear the likes of Pocchetino or Guardiola tell the press how difficult it is to get the best out of youngsters that have no balls and are surrounded by entourages.

Just when you think he couldn't make it any worse.

If Jose has said those comments then he's a complete idiot.

People may think he's right. Its fine to have an opinion, but its not something you say to the media. Its the reason he took vice captaincy off Pogba.

Regardless of these comments, he's just lost it anyway. Whatever 'it' was, he hasnt got it anymore.

Maybe he wants to be sacked. Maybe he knows he isnt able to compete with Pep.

If im totally honest, I cant wait until the season is over. Hopefully we get rid of this clown and bring someone in who treats our players with respect.

This is where im at with the whole ordeal.

Im tired of this season and just want it to end.

Thr City game, in particular, was depressing. The gulf in quality is huge.

If the squad is good enough to be challenging for bigger things and we're 8th that reflects even more worse on the manager. The worst thing is players like Martial and Shaw have contributed a lot more than some of his favorites ie Matic/Lukaku/Young but he won't say a word about them. How is that fair? Martial has shown more "balls" than anyone this season. To work his way back into the contention after the situation in January even getting fined at one stage because he didn't come back after the birth of his child. To produce that form after all that happened he's got an elite level mentality I don't care what anyone says. lesser players would've shrunk and looked for a quick exit.

Dont you think on paper the gulf between Liverpool and City is huge, though?

They have Alexander Arnold, Gomez, Robertson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Henderson - all players that regularly start for Liverpool, and are still able to beat City.

We've spent enough and have some quality players in our squad. The reason it seems like theres a massive gulf is because one managers getting the best out of their team and one isnt.

What Mourinho said or didn't say is irrelevant. Why even risk the controversy?

He seems desperate to make headlines and it's completely unnecessary, adding to the pressure on the club.

As others have said, Fergie's comments about his players were always 100% supportive. Worked pretty well didn't it?

What exactly does the second version change? He still singles out the younger players for a lack of character. That's what people are talking about so how does the 'genuine translation' change anything? Someone elaborate on this

The gulf between us and City doesn’t bother me at all tbh. They will bitch slap plenty of quality teams between now and the end of the season. It’s backs against the wall desperate struggles to beat teams in the bottom half of the table that really grip my shit.

It is not coincidence that he loses his dressing rooms be it at Chelsea or Madrid. Hope he leaves and takes his toxicity with himself. Hopefully, our next manager is a true success. Moyes, LvG and Jose wasted years and tons of money and we are still mediocre.

They won’t mate. Some guy was laughed at for comparing it to the Trump regime, but it’s quite similar at this point. People willl ignore all of that genuine questions and argue against semantics to try and undermine genuine arguments. It’s been going on here for months now.

Maybe because they aren’t asked those questions? Or they just don’t talk about it?

Since you have trouble understanding my point, I’ll explain it better. Young people can be easily influenced. If Jose is telling martial what to do to improve his game, and he’s getting other voices in his head telling him he doesn’t have to bother, that’s going to causes distraction. Many young people care more about what their friends say and think than what a teacher or in this case a manger thinks. Look at Dembele at Barca, fantastic prospect but fanny’s about with his friends all the time. Why? Maybe because he thinks he’s made it and doesn’t have to try as hard anymore? That’s not exactly unheard of is it? We pay our players more than anyone else so it’s not hard to imagine they and their entourage think “hey, we made it. Don’t need to try as hard anymore.”.

But once again, this interview was over a month ago. No one gave a shit until it was twisted to be far meaner than it was intended. So obviously people here care more than the players who have been improving.

Big celebration day once he gets sacked. The state of him.

I think even the fact that we let him continue despite going against so much of what the club is supposed to stand for, is indicative of the sad state of the club at the moment. We’re desperately lacking in both vision and execution.

Will definitely join you in celebration the day with get rid of Mourinho, though, make no mistake!
