Cool, so we should be fine against teams that cost less than our squad. Which is every team we've faced this season.

We were 8th with 20 points & a +1GD before the game started. Can we judge him on that?

And yeah, we got embarrassed by Debry in the League Cup at home.
Most teams easily outplay us. Our approach is outdated. We deserve to be where we are and Mourinho deserves criticism for that. But getting beat by a petro state is not something we can criticise him on.

Set us up like a plucky conference side. It's frightening how out of his depth he is and even more scary people think a fluke win at Juventus changes anything. He has to go tonight.

3 years and we've not improved. Klopp and Guardiola have signed far, far better players than he is, they've spent more but they've spent it much more wisely.

He's done. Get someone in and let them have a go.

How on earth he's survived until now is beyond me. I'm not an anti-Woodward guy but I'd move him or sack him for how long he sticks with blatantly poor managers.

He needs told to fcuk off pronto. Even Nicky Butt would do for the rest of the season. Just someone to replace the negative, miserable git.

This result was entirely predictable, and I expected very little else, even if everyone had been fit. A lot of that does have to do with the way Jose sets us up, and the mindset he goes into these sorts of games with.

We’re progressively getting worse. The comeback wins shouldn’t mask the fact we are tactically awful. Constantly outplayed & no amount of money will fix this.

So sad how Mourinho has lowered the bar and people haven't noticed like this guy. Does he think Barca or Madrid would go against city and or PSG and be like 'oh they are an oil club, let's give up' no.
Eventually after a few billion more in investment Madrid and Barcelona will get beat the same way and yes this is how they will approach the game to have any chance.

I guess all those posters that changed their minds after the magnificent displays of quality football against Bournemouth and Juventus will be coming in to voice their displeasure here in fourty minutes or so.

I’ll get the party started: We’ll never achieve anything of note with this coward in charge of the club.

I don't think our signings have been awful, but it's what we've done with them. Sanchez, Pogba and Lukaku shouldn't be used in such a negative system.

How are Liverpool able to compete with them? How were Monaco? Or Lyon in this season's Champions League?

They might as well respond with 'magic' because that would make more sense than any other drivel they can come up with.

I respectfully disagree. Furthermore you don't have to look further than 30 miles away at Anfield to see what passion, good coaching can do in order to compete with city. It's got more to do with that then not being able to compete financially so please stop lowering the bar. This isn't a second rate club

Matic and Fellaini in midfield against Silva, Silva and Sterling. Suicidal. Needs to go.

Agreed. Shockingly simple idea, physics. Big slow vs. small fast...

We got lucky in Turin, should be two 5-0 thrashings against Mourinho.

Half our team is terrible, what do you expect?

RB - Young is stealing a living, Dalot should play
CB - Lindelof defending is just sad to watch. Start anyone else please.
CM - Matic is slow & can't be your DM
CM - Fellaini is magical. He can defy physics & cover faster players somehow...
CM - Herrera, used to be good at passing, but LVG/Mou snuffed that out
RW - Lingard, just useless. Runs around, but usually loses the ball or misses a pass unless its against scrubs in a cup game
LW - Martial, best talent on the pitch, running around defending well now, but somehow still hasn't learnt the art of faking a shot. Priorities right?
ST - Rashford, so nice to defenders that when he gets a ball 1v1 on the sideline, he runs the ball out himself...

If it was my business i'd have fired him a while back. But owners don't care as long as we make top 4 money comes in & fans will watch even tho we probably won't win any major titles

He left him out because of a sore knee didn’t he?
He's on the bench, Mourinho was asked why no Sanchez or Pogba and he said he left Sanchez out and that Pogba was injured and had played through the injury on Wednesday night.

I can deal with losing, but the way we are playing. We dont even put in a good fight. He set up the team as if it was Milwall against City, no team this season has been set up as cowardly as us this game.

He can stay for years and the style wouldnt improve. Its sad we keep making the wrong decitions and worst that we stand by them for so long.

After 2 and a half years and millions spent and we only Matic and Lindelof on the pitch who he has signed. The rest have regressed under him including Sanchez who had been consistantly brilliant for Arsenal. Our starting 11 most weeks include so many players from Fergie and moyes' time. How can people think Jose is still good is beyond me.

He's the luckiest manager in football. We get battered almost every match but somehow manage to nick a win more often than not.

Hoping this works as a good luck charm and we end up winning here and I eat my words  but....

This is why he needs to at the end of the season.

He lost my support late last year and wanted a change in the summer, but (writing this at half time) this first half is exactly why we won't challenge for a Premier league or CL trophy.
I'll start by saying I'm happy for him to manage til the end of the season, unless somebody, the right man, is available then lets do what Liverpool did with Klopp and strike.

The guy is frightened to play football. If a team of any quality comes to play, he parks the bus.
In the last month or so, we've seen plenty of times, when we have to go for the win, we look a completely different side, yet he persists every match with the negative tactics. When forced, and we have to attack, we look a decent side with players that can play football.

I'm gonna use this City match as a comparison of the difference in class, and although City have a better squad, the biggest gulf in class isn't on the pitch but on the sidelines between the managers.
Before they scored, we had 13% possession in the first 10 minutes. We're supposed to be a big club, yet we go into hiding.
Yes City are a great side, but other clubs, Liverpool, Chelsea and even sides much smaller than us, come and give it a go, but not us, from the off, we made our intentions clear.

Pressing:
We don't do it, we sit deep, we don't move, we wait for mistakes. City don't make many of them
They do it, they work as a team. Every player on that pitch steps up and is willing to win the ball back

Pushing forward:
We don't do it, we have layers in attack. Very little support. Players stick to their assigned positions and don't break to come and collect they ball
They do it with everyone. Their fullbacks play as wingers at times, their players roam to collect the ball and bring players out of position and break our shape

Workrate:
We don't really have any. We sit, float and wait for mistakes
They have it in abundance, whether it's winning the ball back in our area or theirs, they try

-----

The thing is, with the difference in approaches, it's always going to end badly.
Just early in this second half you saw Fernandinho have the ball about 30yrds from his goal, Rashford was behind in and Lingard in front but there wasn't any press and he was able to pass the ball with no pressure, whereas in the other half, when our defenders have it, we resort to passing back to De Gea as we have no options available.
With how high they sit, our players are always going to be under pressure with the ball at our feet, no options to pass to and as we end up losing the ball, sometimes deep in our own area we are inviting attacks

The motivation just doesn't seem to be the same between the two sides. I'd say players are excited to play at City, attacking, pressing, working as a team, whereas here it all just looks lethargic and that isn't a good motivator.

Pep has put his stamp on this squad. I don't know exactly, but out of that starting 11, they had 7 players that he bought, yet we had 2.

We have good players. As soon as his shithousery of a game plan goes out of the window, and we play on the front foot the game changes. Even the opponent's recognise it and begin to shit it a bit.

Remember this is the man that castrated Madrid into playing like minows (see the Bayern and Dortmund SFs in 12 and 13). As soon as he fecked off they won 4 of the next 5 CL titles.

They have got a stranglehold of the PL now. Pretty soon the unprecedented investment will translate to a hold on the CL between Qatar and UAE.

We might draw, hell even win this - but I can't stand watching us play like Stoke against City.

There are teams that in the PL who are lower than us but attempt to play football - as was said before by commentators - nobody actually fears us anymore.
