Oh god mate, you do know that he likes to soak up pressure and spring counter attacks though right?
And that requires the likes of Carvalho, Lucio, Ramos, Varane. Players capable of reading the game, being strong in winning the ball and springing attacks.

Can’t get that from Rojo, Blind or Bailly no? Who’s the actually ball playing CB from those you mentioned? Because I’ll tell you right now the ball playing manager Pep Guardiola would have brought non of them.

We were also 30 seconds or less from beating Chelsea, which would mean we would be 8th now and not 10th. There is no point in saying we almost lost to this team or that team.
Well we almost beat Chelsea and almost lost to Newcastle. I guess it all evens itself out in the end.

Calm down fella, I started off saying “I’m probably talking bollocks here”. Don’t now start acting the tool, especially when your own post above showed an incredible lack of insight into why Mourinho wants a ball player at the back for his tactics.

It’s not a lack of insight. It’s just your view. Juventus play the football Mourinho likes to play neither of them play out from the back. They can all ping a long ball though.

Carvalho, Lucio, Ramos not ball playing CB’s?
Fecking hell.
Guardiola would love them all, his favorite player is Bonucci.

No there not. They are good on the ball but I wouldn’t class them as ball playing CB’s. There just very good CB’s. Pique is a ball playing CB.

This is truly depressing right now. Why is Ed allowing this man to take us further down in the gutter? How is that a good look for his precious sponsors?

I honestly don't care if we finish mid table as long as I never have to hear anything coming from his destructive mouth again. Give the interim job to anybody, I really don't care, I just don't want him anywhere near our club.

It's that fecking contract extension that's the problem. Ed should just admit he's fecked up and just get on with sacking him. The longer this goes on, the worst things will get in every way.

If he's depressing most of us, how do you think the players feel having to work with him everyday? It's no wonder they don't look motivated.

Maybe. Or maybe our scouts are confident about players and the manager trusts them, as I Mainaldo says, it’s not a dictatorship and that works both ways.

Of course scouts are involved in some way in every signing at every club but at United the ultimate decision is with the manager. When it works he takes credit when it doesn’t he takes blame and he also has to get best out of players through motivation/tactics which clearly isnt happening.

When we were on brink of signing Lindelof, Mourinho’s mouthpiece Duncan Castle was saying he was Mourinho’s top choice. Given he played in a league Mourinho knows very well I would imagine if anything Lindelof is a signing Mourinho prioritised and wanted personally.

There’s probably more chance you’re right than me, hence why I said I’m probably talking bollocks.

Naive to completely dismiss the role other have in our transfer business though.

What a shit discussion this has turned into, one in which some of best footballing centre halfs around are no longer ball playing CB’s.

Anything to make a point eh?

Yeah like the bloody man incharge.

At the end of the day to think we have crap CB’s is because of our scouting is moronic.

 Touché

I never said that at all. I personally think Mourinho's biggest feck up was spunking most of his 2017 budget on Lukaku, he'd had been better off buying VVD and playing Martial up top.

Considering the system we use, I believe Mourinho must have given the green light for signing Lindelof. Even if he trusts the scouts completely, don't you think it reflects poorly on him as a manager of a professional football club to okay a transfer without performing his own homework to be certain the player the club is to spend money on is exactly what he needs?

No, but he's not really the sort of player that you'd expect Mr Woodward to go for either, he'd rather chase Ramos or Varane.

No, I'm saying Lindelof is likely an example of poor scouting that Jose had some faith in.

Jesus Christ we are not a club who is going to buy Victor Fcking Lindelöf behind our managers back.

What’s our excuse for this one, he’s good lucking and will attract sponsorship from Ikea.

That's not what I said. I suggested Lindelof doesn't seem like a player exclusively wanted by Jose.

Think he's Jose's signing. Those quotes about Lindelof being from his inside sources was him suggesting that much. Furthermore Lindelof I hear was nicknamed the Iceman because of how cool he was in defence. Based on that description you could see how Jose would want a young defender like that. His composure just didn't translate to the PL (not yet anyway).

Furthermore Lindelof I hear was nicknamed the Iceman because of how cool he was in defence.

Probably had more to do with him being Scandy and being an ice hockey talent too. His brother plays pro hockey here in Sweden.

Anyway, he's fecking awful, whether scouted solely by Mourinho or scouted by the club and ok'd by Mourinho, he was a shit signing for the money spent.

Genuinely sick to the teeth of him constantly moaning and going on about other teams spending like he hasn't spent hundreds of millions and hasn't wasted the majority of it. He can't even get us outplaying teams put together with a fraction of the money spent compared to what we have and yet of course it's because we aren't "investing" millions, like that new £50 million midfielder he doesn't damn play. Sooner this guy is gone the better, genuinely cannot wait until the day he f's off.

Emperor with no clothes.

Full quotes from Mourinho here:

One thing is to compliment Juventus, but it’s another to give my opinion on how Manchester United should or shouldn’t be organised at that level. But for me, the biggest compliment to Juventus is not even about their structure. My compliment is about the philosophy and the basic things behind the philosophy.

In the tunnel, before the game, I was speaking with Mr Agnelli and I was telling him "since I left Inter, you have seven titles in a row and it looks like the eighth is coming." And he told me: "I don't want the eighth. I want 10 in a row." I think that’s a fantastic answer and a fantastic statement. They have won seven in a row, but they bought Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Leonardo] Bonucci and [Emre] Can and [Joao] Cancelo.

They [Juventus] always want more and more and more. I think the objective of the club is happiness related to football results and they are going to chase that treble. If it is not this year, they are going to chase it next year. If it is not next year, they are going to chase it in the other years. To be honest, I don’t know the structure of how Juventus is run, but I like the philosophy behind their work.

My belief is that you did not take me seriously when I said that the second position was a phenomenal position for us and that this season was going to be difficult. You did not take me seriously. You did not look to my experience and knowledge in football. In football now, every team is getting really powerful and is ready to invest millions.

From my perspective, I have just to work. I am a coach and I do the best work I can do.

Ed Woodward is a bigger coward than Mourinho.

Jose has spent money but not wisely. I reckon he’ll be at the club until the end of this season unless something drastic happens, and then it’s see ya. Wouldn’t surprise me if they had already tapped up someone. Left field choice would be Howe from Bournemouth. They play attractive football and he’s not likely to moan his way through the season.

I'd rather wait until it's mathematically impossible to make the CL before we sack him.

We might get a three or four week honeymoon period if we sack him now, but then things could turn really ugly performance wise. No decent manager will want to go anywhere near us.

Mourinho definitely wanted all the players that were bought. Looking at his reaction to not getting his usual 'old' players in the summer, there is no way he would have kept his motor mouth shut if they gave him someone he didn't want.

As if Woodward's any better?
Doesn't negate the fact that Jose is appalling. Stop getting side tracked away from Mourinho's failures. This is exactly what he wants. Woodward is not responsible for misusing players and the shit tactics. This is our biggest problem right now and we need to get rid.

How this awful man who shows no respect to our club still gets support is beyond me.

Some of you are not quite getting what we mean.

Look at Mourinho's transfer record, you don't think he would have preferred 75m on VVD or 60m on another top class CB? Of course he would, but the club have a budget, he opted to spend the bulk of that on a striker and was left with an amount that could get you a Lindelöf or another gamble (that's Mourinho's own fault). So it's not about him having to take a player he "didn't want", but taking a player that was probably way down his list.

Other managers have had to do the same, it's the nature of the business. It gives him no excuse for his constant moaning and negativity. Poch got a big fat zero and is still ahead of us. You explain to me why that is. He needs to earn his fecking £15M a year salary and shut up!

Agreed.

I can't explain anything to you, he's acted like a complete baby since not getting his way, whether the club were right or wrong, it doesn't excuse him fecking up his/our season with his petulance.

Emery has a worse squad than ours too, and Kroenke is considerably worse than either Levy or the Glazers.

The weird thing is that if he just got on with it and maintained a positive outlook, it would be better for him personally. At the moment, he's shredding his reputation thinking he'll get another big job because people will believe him when he says we didn't invest. £400M says he's been backed.

I really wish fans would stop letting him get away with that nonsense and absolving him because he's hurting our club.

We're honestly mugs for continuing to employ this guy. Talk like that anywhere else and he'd be booted out.

People on here complain that some of us have an agenda against Mourinho. Damn right I don't like the man - the real question is why the fcuk would any of you actually like or respect him? Frankly I feel very judgemental about anyone who still looks at this guy in a good light.

Only got £50M to spend - still less than what we spent in the summer.

He stresses me out more than Moyes did. I feel scared for the club, every moment he's still in charge.

Both have been appalling, He keeps hiring managers and buying players whos style and strengths are totally different to the squad on disposal and are a complete mismatch.

The thing is we knew mourinho's way from the past, and expected something different from him here and that's where the blame lies at wood wards disposal.

Is Woodward going to get it right after Mourinho? We don't know they either, because his dumbfounded vision on footballing terms is responsible for this mess. If he was going to hire Mourinho then he should just have got players suiting his style, and if not then there is no point sticking around.

He's hired two managers. Let's keep things in context and wise up a bit.

You don't have to worry. The way our rivals are playing, top 4 is a pipe dream. He is gone by January or in the summer at the worst, but we will be unnecessarily frittering away this season when even an interim appointment might work some magic.
