For those that keep referencing the amount spent during Mourinho's tenure - who decides how much we pay for a player?

If we are not getting value for money spent i.e. we are overpaying for players, then that is a problem with our negotiating team not a problem with the manager.

We going to give Pep that same treatment when people claim Mourinho needs more money because Pep spent 100m more?

If we are in 10th position and so many players are playing below their best then whose mistake is it?

The Sunday Miror quotes him today (Oct 28) a saying:
  • Jose Mourinho has fired another jibe at his Manchester United boss Ed Woodward by claiming the Old Trafford boardroom lacks a winning mentality.
If this is true, he could be fired for gross misconduct. I firmly believe he looked to get himself sacked during that second stint at Chelsea and maybe he's doing it again...

Chances of him sacked after tonight? Not super likely I think but if we get beat badly at home its possible considering we dropped so many points at home.

Give a name of one player Jose bought that is doing as good or better than what that player did at his previous club. He not only destroying the players he buy, he also destroyed our talents.

I think a comfortable defeat, say 2 or 3-0 would get him in trouble, but I don't see that happening.
If that what it takes to kick him out, then I wish it happens, but I'm afraid it wont. We will end up losing and him staying.

They do lack a winning mentality, he's 100% right.

Bailly, Lindelof and Pogba are currently better than they were at their previous clubs while Matic and Sanchez would have declined due to age no matter which club they had joined.

We've spent an absolute shit load, no doubt. However I still feel a club of our standing, after 5 years in the shadows, should go absolutely mental one Summer and bring in 3 of the best players in the World.

Yes but we need to have a proper plan and structure first or we will end up with 3 Di Marias.

Searching for the white text.......................eh, nope.

But anyway, you can't be serious. Bailly doesn't play. Lindelof makes me hanker after the days of Johnny Evans and Pogba - you think he is BETTER now than he was at Juventus?

A game of opinions, I guess.

Bailly must have been really crap at Villarreal if he is currently better than he was

With annual gross profits at £600m and a yearly wage bill of £300m, how do you figure that is possible? And it's not like wages are the only operating cost to be deducted. A lot of the disappointment about our spending comes from layman's knowledge of how a business should be run

You mean revenue right @Greck? Not gross profits.

"A lot of the disappointment about our spending comes from layman's knowledge of how a business should be run"

I run a business, and I understand the difference between revenue and gross profits, so nice attempt at a sly dig there. I also say we should "go big" for one Summer knowing full well that we reported £290,267,000 of Cash and cash equivalents in 2018.

Bailly is physically gifted but not much in the football IQ department. He played well in his first season when paired alongside Rojo, who had a better understanding of the game but Rojo lacked pace that Bailly made up for. Even then Bailly still made a lot of blunders. He no longer has a partner like Rojo and thus his blunders are more evident but compared to his time at Villarreal and first season, he is a lot more restrained in his rashness.

Lindelof struggled initially in his first season at a big club in a top league, but he has been consistently growing into his role and seems headed to be a defensive leader. He is showing more confidence and made key defensive plays against juve, while in his first season he was like a walking disaster.

Pogba is a more rounded player today than he was at Juve. His defensive positioning and tracking back is much better. Watching him at the world cup made this obvious.

Not true, no one of them is better now than before, you need to go back and take a look at them at their previous clubs.

I am not convinced that Bailly or Lindelof improved at all since joining us. I personally think Bailly is very overrated by our fans, he is just as bad as Jones IMO but because he is very athletic people think it somehow makes him a good defender. He constantly loses his man, positioning is awful and tackles are flying right left and centre, exact same issues like when he joined us. He has the pace to recover after his mistakes but it doesn't make him a good defender.

Still sounds better than Otamendi and Stones.

I think Bailly has great potential for the type of defender he is and is actually better than Ramos was for a long time. You just need to pair him with the right defender to get the best out of players like him.

No need to read out your CV for us friend. I'm sure all is well with your business' revenue and gross profits. We are all laymen compared to Woodward and the Glazers. We do need to be more aware of club finances so our criticism isnt brushed off as uneducated drivel. That's the real fear

We could but we need a good base first. PSG had such a talented squad even before adding Neymar and Mbappe and it still didn't help them win the CL. Yet.
We need a RB, CB, possibly LB, DM first.

You were the one giving a sly dig in fairness, about people like me not understanding how to run a business. I simply said we should go big one Summer, and I say that knowing full well that we reported £290,267,000 of Cash and cash equivalents in 2018.

The squad was talented under LVG. What we need is a good coach.

Ahhh, thing is @abdo99, I'm not talking about the Mpabbe/Neymar purchases, they were already at the top of French football then.

I mean the purchases Chelsea, City and PSG bought on their way up to the top of the league. PSG's for example came in 12/13:

Zlatan, Silva, Verratti, Moura, Lavezzi, Rabiot

Not gross misconduct, because it's true.
Jose wanted to be funded to the league title this season. The final push from 2nd to 1st.
Woodward said, "no thanks, top 4 will do" and Jose went nuts.

In saying all of this, our squad is much better than 10th place. That's not excusable. Jose needs to get his act together and get us back in the top 4.
The worry for me is that Woodward's losing (top 4) mentality won't be changing anytime soon and a new manager won't be changing that.
It is quite possible that while EW is in his post (possibly for the next 10 years), we won't be winning the league title.

LVG, LVG coaches.
Jose, Rui Faria.
Carrick, Mckenna.

Those are the coaches who have worked with our players and you are suggesting that every single one of these people are no good at coaching and that our players are talented?

I didn’t say LVG wasn’t a good coach! He improved players.

Made Boothwich Jackson look like he could have been world class lol. He probably would have made people think McTomminay was Nicky Butt too.

Absolutely but we need more strength in depth as well.

Quality I would say. Our squad is pretty strong, any stronger we’ll run out of excuses to why we are crap lol. Start talking about coaches being late and stuff lol.

Sorry my bad . Should have framed it better
