Thinking back on a lot of the comments from the BT pundits. Sounds like they’re talking to someone in the inside. Carrick maybe?
Ya Rio and Scholes before the game sounded like they had inside info...I’d be thinking a player before a coach.

Weren’t there strong suspicions he was leaking stuff during Vangle’s time here? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

I dont think it was Carrick. He's been praised by every manager at the club. Seems the type of person who sees challenges rather than problems.

Him or Rooney I think. Could be any of them now but my money would be on Carrick. His phone is probably lighting up from Rio.

This is how I remember it. It was widely said to be a “senior player” leaking stuff at a time when the only senior players were Rooney and Carrick.

Will be sick to my stomach if he's not gone tomorrow.

Not gonna happen.

However we should just pull the trigger in the upcoming break. Put him out of his misery and give the job to Carrick. Will be best for everyone, us and him.

Only thing I’ll say is this.

Like many on here, I work 5 days a week, I also play rugby which means I train twice a week and play on a weekend. Both for a lot less than they do clearly.

Within this, I’ve had bosses, coaches, teachers, acquaintances, team mates etc that I’ve disliked. I’ve disliked the way things have been done at various of those organisations at times.

However, like many on here, I can honestly say I’ve always done my best when it’s time to perform. I’ve never once not put in 100% because unfortunately, I can’t afford to. Sometimes things don’t go well, often in fact, but if I didn’t give my best someone else would replace me who gives their best.

They can do what they want behind closed doors, but those players, some more than others, are not giving their best. There is a difference between giving your best and pretending to give your best. They aren’t challenging, they aren’t competing, they aren’t fighting. We all know who they are. I can’t accept players who are in the position they are in, not fighting for the football club because they dislike someone. I can’t accept it and it disgusts me. Some of the efforts out there tonight and particularly on Sunday were disgusting.

Mourinho may get sacked and it will probably be the right decision because unfortunately, you can’t change all your players. If you can, let me know and I’ll help drag them out. But I hope to god that if he does go, or even if he doesn’t go, someone goes into that dressing room and slaps a couple of those players directly in the centre of their eyes and ensures that if they’re still at this football club, they have the decency to put some effort in for the football club, the supporters and the players who’ve gone before them and this absolute disgrace of a situation never happens again.

I just want it to be over now, he has to go before it gets even worse. To a man we are under performing. I don't know what we work on in training to produce this? Long ball to Fellaini, fair enough, but do something from it! Have people running off him, looking for flick-ons instead of just standing watching him! We are so static, it's like watching a game of Subbuteo.

UEFA cup and 2nd was a decent achievement from where we were, but he can't take us any further. It's gone past that now. He's hit the self destruct button.

I think this thread is just a waste of time, we all know he has to go. The ones not accepting it deep inside know that he has to, but wont accept it because of pride. This thread is just for moaning, we all have the same conclusion Mourinho is not the only problem but he is a big part of it. Sack him already, or we must wait to be in a position where is imposible to reach next year´s UCL?

They won't sack him until it's too late to salvage anything from this season. That was the case with Moyes and Van Gaal and that will be the case now as well.

So it seems a critical mass has been reached quite rapidly over the last 10 days or so. My Mourinho In thread was merged with the Mourinho is a has-been thread. So here is another thread for the few who still back the manager.

I can't say I've enjoyed the disaster that this season has turned into but I don't think Jose is outdated or somehow not a top manager anymore. He is clearly struggling with getting the best out of the team this season, but it's still early IMV. The bigger concern is the mood and the personality clashes. Something has got to give there and I'm inclined to side with the manager over Pogba, for instance. I also don't believe getting a new manager in right now will do any magic. It's a pretty bad time to be coming into the job for anyone. If the board decide to sack him I'd hope it would be an interim situation where everybody is playing for their United futures.

A lot of the criticism of Mourinho is warranted. The team selection at times, how he defends himself in the press can leave a bad taste, but I just see a manager who struggles with a team that doesn't have the character he is used to. What makes it even harder is that the quality is also not high enough. I'd still give him more time and backing.

I don't see a better alternative than going with him for the season and reassess towards the end of the season. And if that turns out to be the case, we should back him in the January market and prepare those moves now.

Get him out, this is enough. We are Man Utd and this guy must be on a mission from the Russian at Chelski. He´s not the only one to blame as part of this also falls on the board and players but at the end of the day he spent close to 400 million on players. I did see a part of the u19 team today and some of those players would give us a better performance that this lot playing now. Play Laird,Gomez and Chong as they have talent and hunger. At least we would give them our support as there would be a future in that. Playing Valencia,Young,Darmian,Herrera,Mata,Jones,Fellaini,Matic,Sanchez just to name a few is just dreadful. Play: De Gea, Dalot/Laird, Bailly,Smalling,Shaw, Pereira,Pogba,Fred Chong,Rashford,Martial and have Gomes,Garner on the bench. Then clear out this lot not fit to be in United colors and bring in 4 to 6 players like De Ligt, Koulibaly,Saul Niguez,Nabil Fekir,Ndombele and Pulisic. What is the other way? Continue this bullshit and end up like bloody Liverpool were in the Fergie years.

I'm gutted we're going to have to drop points to Newcastle before they bit the bullet. We are the worst run club in European top flight at the moment.

There's no point going any farther. I love him but I love the team more. He's clueless in how to get out of this situation and he has never done it previously. I'm happy with the progress he made in the previous 2 seasons but he's in his usual self destruct mode he entered at Madrid and Chelsea and he's not going to solve it. He's terrible in dealing with pressure when the results are terrible. He's only good when he's winning.

Need to put him out of his misery and look for ourselves instead. Season is still long. No need to drag it any farther for him and us.

It's very hard for a manager to turn it around in today's game. The negative momentum is too strong at this point and reversing it is almost impossible, especially when not everyone is buying into his methods anymore.

I'm convinced that he won't be sacked before it is mathematically impossible to get top 4, or maybe even later than that if we are still in the CL/EL with a chance to qualify to next year's CL through that route. That means that he has enough time to either turn it around (unlikely) or to stink up the place so badly that no fan in their right mind would still see a way forward with Mourinho in the dugout.

What is the idea that there is even a 1% chance Mou turns it around based on? Please name an instance in the past decade of any manager in a similar situation turning it around again.

I'm still in the Mourinho in camp. I believe he's nowhere near on a decline. Shit happens. Everything goes wrong.

The dross that has been served this season is too bad to be his fault. The players have lost the desire and confidence due to splits in the camp. You can tell there's something wrong between the players and right now it's a very difficult place to coach.

Would be nice to see this side play like one of his best Chelsea teams for once.

Mourinho is in all out war with the board. They haven't backed him in the summer and he's going to make them financially pay for it.

  • Hererra and McTomminay at CB this season, when we have players already capable of playing there, why? Jose didn't get a CB this window and that's what he wanted.
  • Insisting this season will be a shit show, last season was a fluke. "Don't expect much, I wasn't backed"
  • Taking it to the streets with Pogba and Sanchez because they're Woodward signings. All of a sudden they're out of the team and don't have the right mentality for us.
  • Board looking to hire a DOF, apparently with Jose's blessing despite never working with one before.
We all know Jose can be petty and holds a grudge. He isn't happy with the summer and this will continue until he's sacked because that's ultimately what he wants now. He'll walk away and say "Nobody can mange that club with the board and those circumstances".

Worst part is, he'll probably be right.

It's looking bleak for him now. Can he put this right and fix relationships within the squad, or is it over? Each passing day now seems more likely to signal the end. None of us know what's really go on behind the scenes, and no doubt the club is broken in more than one area, but we all know it's the manager who always the pays the price, and these performances and results just aren't good enough. I'm sad to say it, but I'm now seriously thinking he's finished.

The best we can hope for in sticking with mourinho is patchiness. Like we have played on the pitch since he’s been here. We play well in bursts. Never for the majority of a game.
We might get a few wins here and there but then will get a few bad results again.
But now, after all the player drama and poor transfer window, even a few wins looks unlikely.

Seen this on twitter! I tend to agree

So, did you stand by Moyes and LVG.? I was glad we got him but it’s gone too far now, ive only switched to Jose out recently because sometimes common sense should be used.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to winning the FA cup in the last minute in 1990. He was on the verge of being sacked having had 2 or 3 seasons at the club.

Ferguson is completely different to Mourinho though. Ferguson pushed on from there and created a dynasty.

Mourinho won the Europa league and hasn't done anything, the teams gone backwards. This tweet isn't a reason to back Mourinho. Until I see cohesion on the pitch, less bitching in the media and solid team play, nothing will make me back Mourinho.

Good post @crossy1686. I've had more doubts that he's indeed fighting the board and trying to get the sack.

One things for sure, Woodward doesn't get near enough stick in this forum. His job has been dreadful since SAF retirement (the worst, by far, amongst European giants). Sure he's good with marketing and that crap but what about genuine player quality? Club identity? Long term vision? Zero

Your only good young prospects either came from the Academy (Rashford) or were bought by José (Dalot).

All by myself, dont wanna be, all by myself.

I expected "At first I was afraid.."

If he leaves on bad terms it will be quite interesting to hear his take on the inner workings of the club.

Surely any top manager would think twice about taking on the job if Jose is sacked before the season ends. A poisoned chalice.

@Bastian

I think he is a good manager but has made and continues to make troubling missteps.
I think we were building something which Ed and the board ruined.
I don't know if it's a good idea to hang on. I want badly for Mourinho to succeed here but it's looking unlikely. How long do you allow this spiral?
I'm not sure that the January transfer window will undo what's gone ahead or fix what's wrong with us. It's more than just having "bad player".
Everybody is feeling so apathetic.

Saying all of this, winning 10 games on the bounce would surely turn this around ........

 , Also great post @crossy1686

I never wanted Moyes in the first place, anyone but the board and SAF could tell it was too big for him, the second he tied Rooney down for stupid money and only bought Fellaini when he said he was after Ronaldo etc was over before it started for me. LVG I stood by til the end, then giggsy! I’ll stand by the team if the players are putting 100% in, which some aren’t! History has shown what you get with him and how he turns his players against him, so its the boards fault for appointing him! Until he’s sacked I’ll support the manager.

I really don't see why anyone would still back him, other than through blind loyalty. It's been beyond horrendous. And no, it's not a "what else is there" situation. Mourinho staying at United is currently the worst possible thing. So get rid of him and use a caretaker manager if we need to. Would be miles better.

That’s not what I asked, if you were supporting those two until they got sacked then you must be mad, we support Manchester United not Moyes, lvg or José, if its clear its not working then we need to move on.
I really believed José would be a success here and stay for a long time but Ed telling him he knows better was the beginning of the end, absolutely fecking stupid to extend his contract then not back him in the window which must’ve been around the time Ed had José’s targets.

I think if the club briefs the press that there is no chance he'll be sacked before the end of the season then he's got back leverage and players need to perform. It still requires Pogba being dealt with and I'm not sure how that should be. I really do not want to see an example of a player wielding more power than a manager, let alone a player who doesn't give his all consistently.

The way things are in the press it's as if he's on the cusp of being sacked. I've not noticed any briefings from the club. That only further undermines his position in the dressing room. And it makes me think that he might actually be close to the sack.

Too bad to be his fault? You realize literally his last team he managed, in the same stage as we are in now with him, they were even worse than what we are now. It's a trend with teams he manages. Players get sick of him and the results only last for a couple of seasons before it all collapses.

I expected "At first I was afraid.."

It won't be any difference from what LvG said after he left. He will talk shite about board and Ed as much as LVG did and looks like the later wasn't wrong. Doesn't mean both didn't/doesn't deserve the sack though.
