Mourinho has done a good job convincing you.

If his managerial career keeps going in the direction it's going, he should consider retiring and starting a cult. The caf would be a bit less active, but he's brilliant at manipulating people in turning them against the players of their club.

My support for Mourinho has been relentless. The nail in the coffin for him today was his stubbornness with mctominay. It was actually extraordinary petty even for him. Mctominay was clearly a train wreck in CB and when he chose to bring rashford in, he refused to take blame for mctominay and instead subbed lindleof in almost a clear sign of denial. He’s lost it. Mctominay then went on to look like a training pylon for the third goal at a time in the game when we could have potentially gotten a 2 goal and drew the game.

Depressing.

Still trying to understand why he chose today's approach. He hasn't started a game ultra-negative probably since Liverpool last year. Today started out as a return to hardcore anti-football. Maybe thinks the away fans will back him no matter what

He wants to get sacked I think.

At this point is there any argument to keep Mourinho that couldn't have been applied to Van Gaal or even Moyes?

  • The squad isn't fully his
  • Not been backed by the board
  • Fergie needed six years...
ETC.

It's like he is wrecking his own career and trying to do the same to poor McTominay's at the same time.

Yes, he hates it here (living in a hotel for 2.5 years) and, at some level, conscious or not, realises he can’t compete anymore with the top managers. As this is the last time he’ll earn this level of salary (at least in Europe), he will not resign and instead will try to accelerate his departure date.

To be fair, it seems like a solid tactic to get his 20m pounds pay check early so he can go back on vacation mode. All while ‘sticking’ it to the board/ed trying to deliver a message about cb yet again

Think you'll beat Valencia and Newcastle.

Get the feeling a bad beating by Chelsea at the Bridge will be tipping point game. Always a bogey ground for you guys and don't think you've even scored a goal down there since Mourinho became manager?

I only see him going this year if we get knocked out of the group stages of Champions League, if he gets us into knockout stages I think he will survivor deafeats against Chelsea and City.

Woodward will cling to hope we can scrape fourth or win the Champions League.

I'm over my knee jerkiness now. And even now, I still feel this is one of the worst performances I've seen from a United manager.

Going to West fecking Ham and starting 5 fecking defenders and 2 defensive midfielders? Leaving only Pogba and Martial to link things up. We aren't playing 2008-12 Barca here! Watching someone like Mark Noble look like fecking Pirlo boils my blood.

How are we paying them so much respect and defending with 10 men behind the ball? Cowardly shite. Then Mourinho goes onto throw Martial under the bus to vindicate his blind faith in the fraud that is Sanchez.

I'll continue to watch every game and support from the first minute to the last, but this horrible little prick needs to go.

Way it's going you'll be 10 + points adrift of 4th place by start of November.

Interesting theory but then I'd say Man. United dropping into Europa gives them better chance of getting CL football than actually staying in the competition.

Have always liked Jose and wanted him to be manager. Now I think it's time for him to go - because I don't think he wants to be here.

The club with finances and fans have been supportive of Jose for 2 years. There comes a time where you need to cut the chord before things escalate further.

Any one who is still Mourinho-in should watch the Chelsea-Liverpool game. Just watch the way Chelsea play, that is what an actual manager who can coach accomplishes in a short period of time. They went from defensively solid Conte system to a fluid quick passing side within months. This fraud Mourinho has been here for two+ years and still moaning about this and that. Mourinho and his fanboys can feck right off.

Don't think so but today looked like a man on a power trip

I just think that if he really was trying/wanted to win... He'd have been chopping and changing far sooner then we did.

He also wouldn't have stuck with McT at centre half

Not wanting to be one of the smug gits, but was one of a whole host of fans pointing out last season that we were incredibly lucky, and that things would average out. We create less than anyone in the top 6, and we concede more chances than anyone in the top 6. That was last season. Now we're reverting to the xG, as anyone who studies stats said we would.

The way Jose has us playing, the freak outcome was finishing second, not being outside the top 4.

We play the worst football of any major club, and now the results reflect that.

I loved the old Jose, the cocky, cheeky 'special one'. This version is a pain in the arse.

No chance Jose will leave because that would portray the message to the masses that he is accountable for our current problems on the pitch. Jose will need to be sacked, but Woody and the board are reluctant to do so due to the hefty compensation he will be awarded.

A ridiculous situation when you think about it, United is one of the richest football clubs on planet earth, just pay him off and be done with it. We all know Jose isn't turning this around, not having lost the dressing room in a manner of his own selfish doing.

What hefty compensation? Whats 20 million more when youve already wasted hundreds of millions.

To play Fellaini, Matic and McTominay in midfield is dreadful tactics. How can any decent manager go with that midfield? No pace and movement at all which then restricts any attacking play. Its not rocket science FFS! Its just embarrassing at the moment and Mourinho needs to look at his tactics and team selections.

Going off the poll above I’d love to hear the opinions on why he should stay presuming they were Utd fans of course

It's because since he took this Job over from LVG; 352 was the formation that had suited the squad that he had. He knew this from the start but purposefully neglected it and spent the last 2 years playing 4231 or alterations of it - the formation that he has used at every single club he has managed & bought him success. It benefitted only a very few players - Lingard improved playing as an AM, Matic did well as a CDM, but it made players like Rashford & Martial become permanent wingers crossing in to a target man. Players like Mata played out wide whilst players like Pogba were positioned too defensively in a midfield 2. Worse thing worse is that players that he himself bought struggled with his tactics too - players like Lukaku is not made to play a target man role and to this day struggles to play alone by himself. Lindelof himself cant play in a defensive 2 and seems to need an extra man from midfield to drop in and play as a back 3 to provide stability.

What we say today by Jose playing 352 was him saying he has given up. He has given up using his tactics & just using a formation that he does not even like but suits his players more.

However - since he doesn't know the tactiics very well - he made awful mistakes.

  • Why play Mctomminay at RCB rather than CDM that drops in to CB - the way fellaini has been doing for us so well; infact why didnt Fellaini continue - these type of CDM/CB's provide us an interlink of passing and positioning between defence and midfield
  • Our midfield was too defensive, too slow, too focused on height and defence - Why when we play with a back 3 do we need 2 CDM and 1 CM in midfield; that is way too defensive. We dont need a CDM at all with 3 CB's since one should be pushing out from defence anyway. We should have used CM like herrera, Fred, Pogba, hell even Mata in the middle which would provide a better midfield passing trasitioning
  • Our Strikers - We need to play with two strikers which happnened but Jose used Martial to drop back leaving Lukaku upfront by himself again; we need a CAM or a False 9 who interlinks the 2 forwards to the midfield which could be done by Lingard, Sanchez or Martial whilst the two strikers can be anyone left from those guys aswell as rashford and Lukaku,

Jose's tactics today was saying he has given up on the tactics that he knows after 3 years and used tactics that suit the players but used the wrong players as well as playing some in wrong positions.

Jose is done here and he knows it.

It's also less than we'd lose being out of the CL. That's why I'm shocked Ed isn't moving already. Perhaps the international window will be used to sound out some candidates.

I for one would love us to give a chance to a younger coach. Worst case: it doesn't work out, but it won't cost much. If we go for another 'proven winner' it's likely to be someone who is past it.

Aside from Fergie, very few managers remain relevant for more than 15 years. Virtually none. So looking for a huge track record is a poor choice imo. Pick someone with great ideas, clear potential and give them a go.

Thing about playing makeshift defenders to send a message has to be the managerial equivalent of downing tools. Way to sabotage results to protest a decision you don't agree with. Honestly don't believe even am egomaniac like Jose would be that destructive

To be fair to him, no way in hell McTominay ever gets in the first team if it wasn't for Mourinho because frankly, he just isn't anywhere near good enough.
