Near the end of LVG's reign I made a list of people to succeed him, and I had Mourinho as number 7 billion something. Was terrified when he was linked to the club, but had to give him a chance once appointed. But come on, he's just a miserable old cnut, isn't he. No self reflection at all going on. Really worrying line-up today too when I saw it before the game. He has just totally lost it – I'm literally worried about his mental health. Not blaming the man for that, he just needs treatment and rest, meditation perhaps. Time away from football to let it sink in how terrible shape he has been in the last few years. Then in a couple of years he could perhaps go back to his old jobs as an interpreter. I wouldn't hire him anywhere in any football capacity.

Fair enough. But, would you be disappointed/up in arms if he were to get sacked now?

No, I'd understand.

I would be livid if he was replaced with a stop-gap option and it is business as usual. There needs to be a serious restructure. The question is whether Jose will be a part of that restructure.

Surely Jose should also know his time is up and he needs to go if he has any pride.

Because Lindelöf is crap and Bailly need a cool headed partner to complement his aggressive style. Most of the goals we conceded is bad defending. If Alderweirld was signed I bet we conceded only half of the goals and not look so shaky at the back.

If you still doubt Mourinho, look at last season defensive record. He's a master of setting up a tight defence but he needed a world class centre back which we don't have since Vidic and Rio.
 Lindeloff is crap but Jose fought to get him so who is that on ? Bailly need a cool headed partner that he hasn't got at the club ? Who is that on again ? Alderweirld wouldn't resolved the main issues anyway. Setting up a tight defence is cool and all but more is expected.

Thank you for at least winning something in the last couple of years Jose and bringing champions league back to OT. Unfortunately it should be time for you to go now. Hes taken the club as far as it will go with him. That team and setup he put out today should be the last straw.

I don’t think this squad is bad. If Klopp or Pep we’re in charge we would see completely different results. The talent is there to go out and dominate teams.

Settle on a starting 11 and ride that unit with minimal changes. Find a way to have the side generate more quality chances. And make us solid again. We've conceded 12 goals already, the bleeding has to be staunched, and he knows how to do that.
I hope you're right. I hate that I feel like I want the manager to be sacked (I've been wanting since Sevilla).

Honestly, I’m glad to see that some of the most ardent Pro-Mourinho posters have now come to the conclusion that his time has come. Not for the purposes of point scoring, but because this civil war among the fans has been so tiresome. Even in the darkest days of Moyes and Vangle did the division between the fans get so bad.

No one enjoys having to come and argue with fans of the same club about the same thing every day. The sooner Mourinho goes and we can all get back to pulling in the same direction, the better.

Congratulations on trying to turn the mood sour after there's been a reconciliation.

Nah nah not with your kind, heard that similar shit speech almost 20 years ago, you have been flapping your gums and having a go at posters left right center. Dont worry its wasnt just you, there are few more names there.

I still think Mounrinho is a great manager but I’m fully under the impression he’s not the right man for our club at this time. We can’t replace the whole team with players that would die for him so we need to replace him instead and bring someone else in who can handle the entitled, pampered bunch with egos. I don’t like the direction our club is going and I believe you should support your manager but after today, it’s hard to argue against the players no longer willing to play for him.

Yeah I have hopes for Sanchez to start playing if we bring in a decent attacking coach.

At the very least, a coach who won't play him in a role he blatantly cannot fulfill anymore, which is to tear up and down the wing all game when he no longer has the pace for it.

Lukaku: poor technique and first touch, loses the ball easily, very pacy and crosses well from the right - gets played as a lone target man striker
Sanchez: previously one of the top 5 forwards in the PL, superb goalscorer, excellent technique, not pacy - played as an orthodox LW
Martial: excellent technique, good dribbler, pacy, can beat his man from the left - not played very much on the LW
Rashford: inconsistent youngster who burst onto the scene showing instinctive finishing and movement in the box, very pacy but not that great a dribbler - played consistently on the wing, or in rare games as a lone target man striker
Lingard: showed his best performances as a roaming no. 10 - played on the RW

Can't understand the manager's thinking tbh.

The problem is we don't have an identity, sometimes we can play like Barca at peak, dominating them then next game all of sudden we set up too defensively and try to counter-attack, playing like rich Stoke city team.

I agree with the post. We have a plethora of attacking talent yet none are playing to their ability.

Just want to refresh the BBC Sport page to see that he's left by mutual consent.

Sad thing is - I just can't see it happening for another few weeks/monmths.

Well the arguing is more riveting than the football tbh.

I admit Mourinho got it wrong with Lindelöf but Bailly would make a huge step up if he had a world class defender partnering him. I like Smalling but he is not world class like Alderweirld who definitely wouldn't be making rookie mistakes we made so far this season

That bit about wanting more? Let me remind you that Klopp began to realise he need to tighten his defence and bought Van Djik which is why Liverpool are top of the league. Attack win games, defence win titles

They are capable of it, for sure. We saw that last season with our 2nd place finish. We're being coached badly, and are horribly low on morale, not to mention effort. I don't think there's any doubt about that, and the manager has to be held accountable. I do however think we actually overachieved last season.

It's bizarre. I was cautiously optimistic after last season that we'd have an excellent window and start challenging in earnest. But I think that poor window killed us.
We were staggering before the poor window and maybe that was the final blow.

And Woodward gave him an extension in winter... Fantastic people we have in charge at this club. Now we have literally become 15-16 Chelsea both results wise and dressing room wise. We all knew the day Mourinho was hired there was a chance of this happening but we all thought we would at least win something big along the way. His tenure here has been worse than at any other club because the meltdown has already come without him winning anything big. I'm glad his career will most likely be finished after this, a person with his kind of attitude deserves nothing. All Jose does these days is create a toxic environment, divide dressing rooms, throw players under the bus and take zero responsibility for anything.

I think we can all agree now Sir Bobby was right.

That is on Mourinho. We had identities under Moyes and LVG. They weren’t very good but it was clear what we were setting out to do.

I'd be very very surprised if it happened after today. We've still another 5-6 bad results away imo. Our board are indecisive as feck, unfortunately.

Those who want Mou out.. who do you replace him with NOW?

There's no one available.

The only choice is Carrick with McKenna as his assistant - unless you can convince Zidane to come in now, which I honestly think would be a bad idea for both parties.

At the end of the day Mourinho was an impulsive choice, a reaction to City hiring Pep. We needed a proper rebuild after LVG and Jose just isn’t the guy for that. He’s someone you hire when you have a good team that just needs that extra 5-10% to become really successful, that’s what gave Chelsea, Inter and Real when he took those jobs. He can make a good team great, but I don’t tho o he can take an average side to those heights.

This year seems heading to the shitters irrespective whether we change manager or not. So lets get Zidane now and give him the time to assess the squad before things get serious next year.
