The MMA thread

feck, forgot this one was in the UK! Suppose I couldn't have seen the prelims anyway.

Nedkov fight got cancelled last minute it seems :(

Another boring fight between Browne and Kongo. Was surprised to see it called a draw though. Thought Browne would've edged it on points, especially with Kongo's deduction. Big let off for Kongo imo. But I'm happy it was a draw, neither fighter did much to win, nice from the judges.

Very frustrating fight for Hathaway. Giving up a lot of experience, put in a couple of real bad positions.

feck sakes. You know you're in trouble when you're relying on Bisping to restore some pride to your country.

Yep, that outta humble him a bit.

Was actually beginning to get a bit bored with hearing how if he hits someone their head is gonna explode...etc...

I think he believes his own hype too much.

Yeah. Thought Hathaway and Hardy would do more than enough

Still rooting for Sexyama though

Understatement of the decade.

He is so cocky it's beyond belief. UFC love to hype their British fighters, and there aren't many worth it yet so Hardy gets most of it.

Two losses in a row now. Hopefully the hypetrain created before his GSP fight is all but over.

Good weekend coming up!

Although UFC 121 could either be pretty entertaining or terribly boring.

Hoping Cain beats Lesnar, but he's going to need to fight with a lot of caution. If all goes his way, he'll just keep Brock too well occupied to suffer any major attacks and Lesnar will be relying on scoring takedowns and out wrestling Cain, and I doubt he'll be able to do that for five rounds. Would be surprised if he can do it for two. I think Cain takes it by decision. TKO if he's lucky.

Going to try and catch DEEP 50 as well, lots of good fighters on that card, including Aoki

Anyone been watching this seasons TUF?

Cody Mackenzie  That guillotine of his is sick. I need to learn it. Also, just found out today that Jonathan Brookins went 3 rounds with Jose Aldo not too long ago so he's defintely got pedigree

Really good season so far. Enjoying Kos's pathetic attempts to wind up GSP. You can tell he's just biding his time and waiting to smash him again. There's defintely some decent prospects in the house this season too for a change. I can see 2 or 3 of them becoming names in the future.

I'm 50/50 on Brock v Cain. Should be a good fight though. I wouldn't be surprised if Kampman upsets Shields in his UFC debut either.

Yeah TUF is good this time. Wanted both winners this week, was great when he slipped straight into the guillotine.

I think Brock wins tonight but Cain puts up a good fight until his lights go out.

Shields takes it if plenty of the fight is on the floor. If not, Kampmann has a huge advantage on the feet. Shields usually manages to survive with no standup.

Brock vs Cain
Shields vs Kampmann
Sanchez vs Thiago
Ortiz vs Hamill
Schaub vs Gonzaga

See Brock has grown a beard though. Could potentially tip the balance in his favour.

Hoping Kampmann and Ortiz win their fights, but Shields is a class act and it's difficult to have much faith in Ortiz

Another disappointing performance from Tito, but good stuff from Hamill

Got Sanchez vs Thiago (Just started), then Shields vs Kampmann

Great performance from Sanchez there, wasn't expecting that

I'll bet anything the judges gave Shields that second round, despite Kampmann connecting several times, and Shields hardly doing anything on top. He had mount, like, what, three times? I can't remember him throwing a single punch or trying a single submission from there.

"This might have cost Martin Kampmann the round": Joe Rogan. Seriously? What the feck is he thinking? He dominated him for four minutes of the round, and suffers no strikes or submission attempts when on the bottom, and Rogan things that might give Shields the fight?

If Shields wins this 30-27...

Split decision, about right. Raped him positionally on the floor even though he hardly did any damage, Kampann didnt do much more except for a knee or two.

He did more. You can count the strikes thrown from the top on one hand, and the submission attempts.. where there any? Literally, did Jake Shields try any submissions? Kampmann threw more strikes and tried more submissions than Jake Shields from the bottom. Jake Shields is a joke of a "fighter".
