Close fight. Poirier takes it by a round IMO. Just had way too much power for Max.

Laughable that anyone would think Dustin is an easy night for Khabib. He could beat him.

What a card. Max is too slender and doesn’t have the power at 155.

Khabib will just do what Khabib does. He’ll take him down and smesh. Maybe if Poirier keeps stuffing Khabibs takedowns, then he might do something but there is next to no chance of that happening.

Poirier's wife...

Brilliant night. Called the last three nights to a T - Rowntree, Israel, Poirier.

I remember feeling absolutely pumped following the GSP-Bisping night (also had TJ-Garbrandt) - got the same feeling now.

Bloody love the UFC.

I think what DC said about Max needing to make a decision and sticking to 155 to fully be ready for that division is 100% true.
I reckon he'll defend at 145 a couple of times and then make the move up full time. He needs to add some muscle.

Jaw dropping final round from Israel. Never thought I'd see Kelvin dropped several times like that. Just incredible. This should be the fight to spearhead him to greatness. I make him favourite against Whittaker

Max didn't have the power to hurt Poirier enough to change the course of the fight after the first round. He's a better fighter imo, but it was a featherweight vs a lightweight in there tonight and that was the difference.

What a card, I’m going to be having nightmares about those Roundtree leg kicks but that final round of Adisanya and Gastelum... crazy. Then how Holloway survived that fight no idea he can take a punch or at least recover well.

Poirer looked huuuuuge compared to Holloway. Just the muscle he was carrying. Holloway has the frame for 155 but does need to stack on a bit more muscle for it. How did people have it scored going in to the final round? I had it 2-2 off of first viewing.

Only caught the last two fights. Both amazing.
Poirier better get the next shot at Khabib, don't wanna see McGregor suddenly leapfrog him or some nonsense.

Think Bobby Knuckles will be too much for Adesanya though. He's a better version of Kelvin.

I'd be surprised if he made the move to be honest. Those Poirier punches looked hurtful. Holloway can land a barrage of punches but it's not a fair fight when strike for strike you're giving up so much power to your opponent and hence damage inflicted. If he had heavy hands he would've beaten Poirier.

Fair enough, a move up could work if you can avoid getting hit but that's not Max's style.

Looking at the top of the Lightweight rankings, I'm very doubtful any time in the gym can make up that kind of gap.

No shame, he's a pound for pound great.

Max is really a brilliant champion, so humble post fight talking with and congratulating Dustin's family.

Must say I'm delighted for Dustin, it's nice to see hard work rewarded

That was always my problem with this fight. Both guys so damn likeable.

Problem is cutting and going down is much better than trying to go up if you're not a natural heavier man. Holloway may have made weight, but it is patently obvious the two of them were in different weight classes and it really told in the fight.

Max's body type does not lend itself to weight gain to naturalise him at 155, and if he's going to go up, he's going to have to stay there and put the pounds on the laborious way. At his age, with his style, it's not worth the effort. A year to go up and be a proper 155lb fighter is too costly, especially when there's no guarantee he takes his advantages with him. Dustin isn't the only one at 155 that hits hard and that damage exchange is always going to be a bad return for Max.

He gave it a shot, fought admirably, and can go back to his own division with his head held high.

Good fight between Gastellum and Adesanya. Still not sold on the latter - he gets hit far too much for the style he has and that's going to be his downfall if those holes aren't fixed. Did think Gastellum would win inside the first two rounds, but Adesanya showed his mettle and rallied really well, he's also got true confidence in his style as he still baited in the same way even after getting badly rocked.

Will be interesting to see how his trajectory goes because the successor mantle to Silva, I still don't see - he gets hit a hell of a lot more than Silva or Jones did on their way up.

Either way, he's exciting and far from the finished article so let's see where he goes from here. Feel Whittaker will pose more problems for him, but equally Whittaker doesn't carry that level of one-punch ko threat so Adesanya may get to further express himself in that one.
