Why are people complaining online that Alvarez got shafted by the ref? He did an illegal knee in the first fight then he held the cage and did illegal elbow this fight. A man of his experience should know better.

Glad the diamond got it done.

Yeah didn’t get it at all. Fair enough from Alvarez and his camp, you expect the excuses.

Pretty clear though, Silly fouls and outclassed in the stand up. Battling through and swinging for the fences behind a good chin makes for good fights but the refs interactions and the stoppage were both dead on.

The irony is, Mark Henry his coach instructed him to throw the elbow. Big mistake from a world class trainer.

Yeah, he didn't do much wrong. The big majority of refs just give a caution without interfering the fight (when illegal strikes without repercussions have been dealt) but Goddard has his ways and its alright as long he don't broke any rules.

I was personally pissed because i would have made more money if they get to the 3rd or 4th round. I had Poirier winning in the second, third or 4th round. I wanted the fight to last longer for that reason. Still won though, so maybe i need to be grateful... A bird in hand is worth two on the bush.


For the Aubin-Mercier vs Hernandez fight though... No excuses. That was a clinic on how not to ref properly. His bias towards one fighter was so clear to see.

Poor Eddie, probably in his mind he was repeating to himself "don't feck it up!" "don't feck it up!" during the whole fight, only for his corner to feck it up. Seriously, they should not charge their commission for this one.


What's next for the division should be interesting. UFC wants to make Conor vs Khabib, but they have Cucuy in standby in case McNUggets want none of Khabib. That would leave Lee to fight Poirier.

If Conor actually fights Khabib, then Cucuy vs Poirier would be the fight to make to decide the next shot.
 
BT have lost the rights. Apparently the streaming service that won La Liga rights have them now.

You will still have the option to "buy" the PPV events on BT Sport.

But the best option is to ditch BT sports, and just get Eleven. It will have all the events...

how much more expensive is Eleven vs BT Sports?

Prices aren't released yet.
I have little to no interest in CL football so I guess that's BT out the window.
I live out in the countryside that hasn't got the best internet connection so i can see a lot of buffering in my future.

The problem they'll have is whilst some people won't be to fussed about CL etc plenty of people will.

I can't see many people having a sky sports package, BT Sports and Eleven Sports. That'll cost about £100 a month just for sports channels, people will just stream it or watch it the next day online. The best part about it being on BT is it's all included in the package which is essential I think. You're not wanting to pay an extra over cost to watch a PPV that starts at 3am it's ridiculous. It's a shame cos BT really embraced the UFC and I thought they had it done perfectly really.

Good card the other night, hopefully Joanna doesn't get another title shot next I reckon it'll be the winner of KK vs. Andrade (don't quite get the logic of Rose fighting JJ cos she's the best in the division...we'd forever have DC vs. Jones in the LHW division if that was the case, that's not how it works.) Poirier for example isn't as good as Ferguson/Conor/Khabib should he also never get a title shot? Sometimes people work their way up. JJ may be the best in the division who's not champ but she's 0-2 against the champ so it's time for osmeone else to get the shot.

That's her schtick though much as with McGregor.

As for the Rose fights...the 2nd one was fairly close and there are no better contenders in the 115 div right now so a third match is inevitable.

I don't know. McGregor was always like that, so one can pass off as an act or whatever but JJ became a cnut from around the time she fought Gadelha for the title defense.

McGregor used to be funny but JJ just comes across as a cnut.

She's been like that for a while as well and in fairness JJ is solely responsible for the rise of that entire division in a similar way to what Rousey did at 135.

I don't like McGregor, either, but at least he has charisma. She just sits there like a whiny cnut. 'I'm still paying for someone else's mistake' she said after her last fight. She's worse than Colby.

She's got more personality in her little toe than pretty much all of the rest of Women's MMA put together. The stupid thing is that all this is just bollocks - of all people, she needs to do the pantomime stuff least of all, because her in cage precision violence demands attention. I get goosebumps, when she enters the cage, pacing up and down, all whist staring at her opponent.

Sure, she's not everyone's cup of tea, but I prefer her infinitely to Rose's love everyone, hippy, vomit-fest!

Perversely, I think losing to Rose, she can rise to greater heights than previously. They will force her to make modifiations, to what seemed like an almost perfect fighting style. I thought her movement was was fantastic against Torres.

I honestly think I'll give up on BT after this. Already have the Champions League on the Irish channels. Not much point holding onto BT for the odd Premier League game. I'm mostly annoyed because having it on BT meant being able to record events that I wasn't able to stay up for and watch them later. Can't do that now as Eleven is a streaming service. Not bothered enough about La Liga to get Eleven either and can just stream the odd game here and there that I want to see. It'll be downloading events for me from now on I reckon except for the odd PPV that I feel is worth buying.

Maybe down the road she gets the third fight but surely there's little mileage in 3 of her last 4 fights being against Rose? Equally Rose potentially fighting her 3 times in a row. Surely the winner of KK vs. Andrade makes more sense. You rightfully point out about the UFC picking and choosing fights and being unfair which they are. Surely it's unfair on them 2 fighters and the rest of the division constantly getting overlooked cos Joanna is the better fighter. You could make the case for most divisions. LW would constantly be Khabib/McGregor/Ferguson, Hw always Stipe vs. DC now, LHW DC vs. Jones, Batamweight TJ/Cruz/Carbrandt, Flyweight just DJ fighting himself. Sometimes people earn the title shot even if they're not the best fighter in the division.

If Andrade beats KK which I expect she will surely she is rightfully next in line? Her last 3 fights would be wins over Gadelha, Torres and Karolina. Compared to Joanna losing 2 and winning 1?

Yeah I think others will do the same, seems an odd decision I can only imagine the UFC asked for to much. I'd prob of given BT benefit of the doubt if they kept it but put a few fights (McGregor mainly) on PPV with the option of recording it or something. Shame really

I don't think Cody deserves the rematch but I can't wait for it, they're so closely matched and the last fight was great. Hopefully more of the same.

Not saying that Cody is Dana here but it won't be down to Cody if TJ doesn't get another shot.

Guess we'll wait and see. We've heard it plenty of times in the past and it's never happened.

Not putting the blame on Cody but I would be surprised if there's a rematch if he wins personally.
 
Seen surprisingly little drama in the buildup to the rematch between TJ and Garcnut.
As a result, i'm not as excited about it as i should.

TJ's theory is that Cody can't really talk considering he lost to him, makes sense I suppose.
 
Joanna should just pipe down and bide her time. She will get her chance, although I have my doubts that stylistically, Rose can beat Andrade, so if she winds up fighting her next and losing the Joanna will be out of luck ( and she likely knows it).
 
I'd.favour JA to take the win against Rose. Thinking back to JJ fighting Jessica, what an incredible fight that was seeing Joanna fighting off the back foot, constantly moving backwards away from the relentless Andrade. I'd like to see Rose try and cope with that kind of pressure.
