The MMA thread

Luke Thomas is cringeworthy. I was happy when Jon Jones told him to get fecked.

I found it pretty cool too, Jones is so much better being himself instead of pretending to be such a good guy.

Luke is very smart but he does comes across as a very arrogant ''I know everything'' kind of guy

Very good card this, hopefully makes up for the Hamburg one. They really need to start making better cards in Europe.

Absolute joke this one.

Colby fit to fight in November (their interim champ)

Till barely won his last fight and missed weight.

Woodley said he'd wait if they want to fight Colby like he was told.

UFC goes ahead and books Till, says they'll strip Colby

Panic stations at the UFC is evident with this stuff. Throwing interim titles around then fecking them off straight away. Part of me hopes Till misses weight so they're stuck even more.

To be fair to Till he came out straight after the Wonderboy fight and said he didn't deserve the title shot yet but circumstances have meant that he's got the offer and you can't begrudge him taking that fight, the UFC are the ones to be mad at.

I don't think anyone will be mad at Till for taking the fight why wouldn't he. It'll be a massive pay day and he could potentially be the champion...and I'd guess he's the kind of fighter the UFC will promote him loads it's obvious Dana is a big fan.

The problem with the fight is they made someone interim champ for no other reason than to have another title fight, they've stripped that guy now instead of just waiting a couple months as well.

On top of this Till has missed weight twice out of 6 fights in his UFC career which isn't great. The second time by a huge amount and he went blind temporarily! He is obviously to big for the weight so I wouldn't even be confident the fight happens. I reckon if Till misses weight woodley won't take the fight or fight anyone else and you can't blame him.

There seems to be a lot of issues around weight cutting at the moment, the Holloway illness is crazy, you have to wonder if the UFC are going change things before something even more serious happens, it's not a good look when fighters are constantly missing weight or getting into dangerous territory health wise just before a fight.

People will blame him.

Yeah there is. Till is probably just far to big for that weight though he looks massive when he's not fighting.

People will blame him.

Yep I'm sure some won't. It's the right thing to do though and wouldn't be his fault. Dana would spin it to get people to blame Woodley I'm sure

UFC don't help though. A paltry purse fine is no real deterrence. Only time there are any real consequences is title fights. Always get the impression those who make weight get pressured into fighting anyway.

Jones had the right idea when they tried to force him into fighting chael at short notice, just said no and fecked over a ppv, not his problem ufc made a shitty card relying on one fight for buys. Problem is not everyone had his leverage.

Well I don’t think it’s the second option to be honest...

What do you think about USADA ? At first it appeared to me they were really catching cheaters, but now many fans are saying it's easy to beat these tests

Costa looks more juiced than Romero though.

Yeah I think with all sports and drugs testing there's ways of beating the system, even ones who are caught have excuses now (such as Romero)

Look at documentaries like Icarus and it shows it's doable. Robert Whittaker had a good podcast the other week about it and how easy it is done, GSP the same on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Yeah probably... I wouldn't care too much about it if everyone was allowed to use it. Weight cutting is a bigger issue. Till is a Light Heavyweight for god's sake... they will really wait for somebody to die... Dana White is such a cnut.

'“I can’t emphasize this enough, Ariel: I seriously thought I was going to die,” (Chiesa about his recent weight cut)

Max Holloway had to pull out, with rumours of a serious weight cutting issue and rumours about a stroke

There are many more examples to give, but its clear that these weight cutting issues are a problem.

Dana white has a dark side as you mentioned, where he throws fighters under the bus after praising them. Recently he threw Ngannou under the bus after his fight with Lewis and was rightfully so called out by Brendan Schaub on his podcast who roasted him. Nevermind the rumours of him acting a bit to 'friendly' with female fighters.

And White actually decided all by himself that they're moving the weigh ins back to afternoon, fighters who prefered morning be dammed. It should be their choice what time to do it...

He said Ngannou's ego was the problem but he was the one who called him the current Mike Tyson!

If it wasn't for his buddy Lorenzo he would be hanging out around boxing gyms pretending to be a fighter

Yep Dana White is insufferable.
Not only is he a prick to the fighters; he just comes across as a bully a lot of the time when being interviewed. You'd have thought he'd at least try and be professional.

It's like if a chav won the lottery... what would they do? Buy a lot more chavvy clothes.

The funny thing is that Dana said that he talked to many fighters who wanted the weigh ins back to afternoon, when many of them actually wanted the opposite.

And you are right- they were hyping Ngannou up as if he was the second coming of Tyson. Totally disrespectful to Stipe, when he mentioned that Ngannou hits harder then a truck (forgot the brand he specifically named) during their Press conference.Good on Stipe to grab that belt out of Dana's hands to hand it to his coach to put it around his belt after that fight.

Are you aware of the below the belt podcast or the fighter and the kid with Brendan Schaub? He made some legit points about Dana not having the passion anymore considering that he 'won' with 400 mil on his bank and that the UFC should look for another CEO who threats the company like the NFL, NBA do in stead of publically shaming fighters like a maffioso.

Don't know how to link twitter posts but Israel Adesanya's response to Brunson is hilarious. Really liking these influx of Aussie and NZ fighters. All seem to be a good laugh. Hopefully we see Izzy on the Halfcast Podcast (worth checking out IMO) soon enough.

Also great card this weekend. I got Poirer, Aldo (iffy on this one) and JJ in the main 3 fights.

Anger management and community service are fairly common sentences for people who slither out of actual jail time.

Anyone see the Till interview? Goes from "I'm not blaming anyone for missing weight, it was all me, I made a mistake' to 'I don't give a f*ck about missing weight' in the space of 30 seconds. Tosser. Also, is it so hard to talk in public without constantly dropping F bombs?

Here, corrupt businessmen and politicians, when caught commiting crimes, are usually sent to Ethics classes:lol:. Not even joking. But a guy selling pirated CDs on the street, straight to jail.

Anyway, Conor began his community service this morning:

I gotta admit, I like this Sage Northcutt fighter

He has potential. The mistake the UFC made with him is that they were giving him opponents that were a bit further in their career then him. He's now on a third fight winning streak and training with Faber who as a hall of famer obviously has a good gym to develop him.
