Ah man.

Solid card has been decimated. Not sure what they do now, but cannot see this doing any decent ppv numbers now. Sucks for the fighters still fighting.

Edit - Although not surpised he missed weight, always felt like a long shot, UFC should really have had a contingency in place.

It wasn't the best it relied heavily on 2 very good main events though 1 of which has now been changed twice and there's no one really available except Pettis, Felder and Iaquinta.

It really is a shame, they thought they got lucky with the Holloway stuff but it was to good to be true.

I think it shows the weight cutting to such extremes just doesn't work really, Holloway a "natural" 145er clearly shouldn't be fighting at that size. Not a dig at him he tried and doesn't make the rules but the system is messed up.

Conor's gonna get the blame from Khabib for ruining everything even if he had nothing to do with Holloway not making weight... venting on a target....

When they finally fight, it's going to be brutal.

They'd lose another fight if Felder or Al took the spot. At least Pettis means an already depleted card doesn't lose another fight.

Felder is probably the best option really but they might as well keep Al vs. Felder which they both trained for and give Pettis the fight.
 
Anyway its shit card now. Feel sorry for the fighters mostly.
 
what about one of Poirier or Gaethje, they are scheduled to fight later this month, at least they'd be something close to full fitness. Would be easy enough to find a decent name to replace one of them in their bill. Don't think any has a chance, but they'd bring it and give it a go at least and you wouldn't have to cancel the Pettis or Felder fight
 
What a crazy week this has been. Holloway suddenly being ready to go after being injured always seemed too good to be true. Will Joanna vs Rose be main event then? First PPV main event for the SW division, tbf still more intriguing than some other main events we've had recently. Or hopefully they can get Felder or Pettis to step in and keep Khabib in a title fight.

Saw a reddit comment: '30 for 30 UFC 223' there might actually be enough material for it at this point!
 


Looks like Holloway thinks it will be Pettis.

It's to late, they need to do medicals etc. HAs to be someone scheduled for this card.

It all makes sense now. McGregor must have found out about Max's not being able to make it so got himself arrested to avoid khabib.
 
So Pettis who has lost 5 of his last 7 is now about to fight for the belt?
 
At least Pettis is a former champ who is ready to fight. Not the end of the world given the calamitous sequence of events.
 
The suspicion in me thinks Conor is looking for a way out. Like most, he probably wants to avoid Khabib and a potential mauling in losing his title. If he got mauled, it would make him look a bit foolish and almost a beneficiary of a "leg up" in life from Dana. He has been acting up since he got the Floyd fight. Slapped an official, now this. If he hadn't won a title, would he be doing all this? He has NEVER defended a title. 0 defenses out of 4. This could be another in his efforts to run away.
 
at least it's a fight but it will be a terrible fight. Maybe let Pettis do a run along the cage kick to keep the crowds entertained. I guess the more positive minded amongst us will point to Bisping over Rockhold, but don't see any chance of that myself. I genuinely hope he does put on a good show, it's terrible the way this card had panned out
 
The latest is that Pettis asked for more money and the UFC refused? :wenger:

Then the UFC gave the fight to Felder, but the fecking commission have said they won't sanction the fight because Felder is unranked and it is too big a mismatch :lol::lol::lol:





What a clusterfeck of epic proportions.
 
Complete crap. Khabib just fought Darrell Horcher a few fights back,who has a day job at an IT firm.

Just pay Pettis what he wants.

That seems a bit far fetched. Lets say he does want to avoid Khabib which i doubt, why go to all this trouble instead of just asking to fight someone else, go up or down a weight or just not fight at all?
 
I'm glad all this is happening though. It will force the UFC to face the farce they are creating. Hopefully Project spearhead gets a boost too.

Enough is enough with this improvised champions and rankings. We the fans deserves better.

The other 3 cancelled fights can be blamed on the notorious ballbag. He's a shambles right now.

Throwing unfit names into a hat to save pay per view buys is a ridiculous way for a sport to be run.
We'll have Khabib v me for the title next
