Interesting and supports the argument that outside of big names UFC is struggling, They can't generate hype around any other fighters. They jumped the gun on Ngannou as well, he fought the champ to soon in hindsight. Now the hype has gone somewhat til they somehow build it back up.

Not sure as different sources are reporting different shit, but...

Jones has done alright out of that, I bet he gets the same ban off USADA and is available to fight again by August.

Who the hell is the guy who looks like he's a guitarist in a 60s rock band ?

Sean O'Malley??

The guy is pretty good.

I was reading about his likely suspension yesterday, supposedly he would have to prove it was a tainted supplement (again) to get off with only a year which seems unlikely. The piece i read makes it seem like somewhere between 1-3 years is the most likely suspension. Shame for such a great fighter to have to sit out his peak years.

Reckon it will be 1 year to maybe 18 months, which is insane considering his only defense is his word.

USADA won't want to be dropped by UFC so will be quite lenient without arousing suspicion.

Outside of the absolute obvious result in the main event tonight's card actually looks damn good, flown under the radar a little bit. Edgar/Ortega should be great. O'Malley/Soukhamthath looks like an absolute cracker. Struve/Arlovski could either be a hug fest against the cage or somebody getting their jaw broken, never know with either of these guys. Zingano finally returning after almost two years out, the weigh in last night was properly heated too, going to be an awesome fight.

Prelims all look really good too. Dodson, Dern/Yoder, Dollaway/Lombard, Carraway/Stamann etc. Really looking forward to this one.

I’m just looking forward to Dern making her debut. I’ve got the fear because there is so much hype behind her It’s just like an upset to happen. Her Jits is way beyond pretty much anyone bar Damian Maia. Having said that this is where she gets choked out. Although seen Yoder a few times and she hasn’t ever really looked like anything dangerous.

O’Malley the sugar show should be an absolute barn burner. Guy can take a hit, will Throw everything under the sun and won’t care how risky it is, will probably tire himself out like his last fight but that’ll make it all the more entertaining as soccermon can take a beating as well.

Ortega vs Edgar

Who you guys going for?

I'm going for Ortega.

Probably wrong but I'm thinking old man Edgar will get it done.

More experience, never been submitted and better on the feet.

Maybe it's be a first by Ortega. He submits people at will. His last one was crazy. :D

Ortega has fought better strikers than him before, and usually he just walks through whatever they throw at him. Has a good chin and he is HUGE for the division so can take a punch with ease. (he has been steadily improving his striking game though... has good combos but lacks a bit of speed)

If Frankie lands clean and Ortega just keep walking him down, shit gonna get complicated. Edgar needs to hurt Ortega early on, make him respect him to be able to win.

Frankie obviously is a master of the GnP, but even against Yair (who probably is just a blue belt BJJ), he got caught in some bad situations. A seasoned BJJ would have finished him if given the same chance. He obviously knows that, so i guess they will try to keep the fight on the stand up and win a decision.

If i had to bet, i would put money on Ortega because he is paying much more than the real difference in level they have, but i think it's super tight. Hopefully Frankie gets it done.

ps. Ortega is looking like he is buying his own hype... have seen it before many times. Young kid get over his head, bamm.. gets humbled. That's one possibility.

I find Ortega pretty likeable to be honest. He one my favourite fighters at the minute.

Ortega, that crazy submission last time out and his ground game is likely too good.

He also guillotined some poor bloke before that with another crazy submission. Just in terms how seamless and quick it was.

yeah the guy is awesome, you can tell he is a nice guy. I just think he looks a little bit overconfident.

Anyway, I personally hope he wins tonight through another crazy submission. That would really put him on the map. Submitting a guy who never been submitted.

Also which fights are you guys watching tonight? There's Brook, Wilder, Kovalev, Ortega, O'Mally and plenty more. Looks like I'll be hopping between the channels for some of them.

Yeah it's nice to have options but deciding what to watch is fecking tough. On UFC for now (with a stream of the Arnold Strongman Classic in the background just to complicate life further ), then I'll probably turn over for Wilder vs Ortiz. I've replaced beer with coffee and cheesecake for tonight so at least I've got a fighting chance of not falling unconscious by main event time.
