Just caught up on the UFC and that Valentina fight. Ouch that was just vicious. Can feel that super fight brewing in the future soon of her and Joanna. Expecting Gadelhia and Andrade will probably go up to that weight also so it’s going to be awesome.

None of the 115 fighters will give Valentina much of a work out. We're talking about someone who came within a hair of beating Amanda Nunes....twice. So the likes of Gadhelia, Joanna, or Andrade aren't likely to faze her.

I don’t know, Andrade and Gadelhia and Joanna at their natural weights will put up a fight. Nunez isn’t as skilled as those girls, she’s pretty much just an aggressive power fighter. I’ve mentioned this before but for me Valentina won that 2nd fight against Nunes, it was aggression vs skill and the judges went aggression.

However back on Valentina against those girls, I want to see them as I think they’ll be great fights. Especially against Andrade and Gadelhia. I’m not writing JOJO off at 125 either, but that’s more country pride that one
Oh Andrade was also a 135’er and doing well in the division before she cut down to 115.

Also Joanna is about the same size if not slightly taller than Valentina. At 125 it’ll be intresting. Joanna not having to cut so much will be able to be at her natural weight and can add a bit more muscle. Valentina does have 3 victories over her in Thai but it’s basically trips, she doesn’t really light her up in any of the fights.

Any developments on McGregor returning yet? It's all bizarrely quiet

Technical ability of JJ and Valentina are similar (i.e about as good as there is but Valentina is far, far stronger and I feel she'd just walk through anything JJ has and hammer her. Not a slight on JJ, is just, if they ever meet in the Octagon, a physical mismatch I think.

No news from Conor, but there is a lot of talk of Woodley potentially defending his title against Nate Diaz, in what would be a new low for Dana and UFC.

If Nate wins you could imagine the trilogy fight for the title. Conor knows he can beat Nate and I'm sure he'd love to win the title in three weight classes

The problem being I really can’t see Nate doing anything against Woodley.

I don’t think Nate is this massive draw either to he honest. Him vs Conor probably does most numbers ever but him vs anyone else I don’t see as this massive fight to be honest I think it does numbers where people just say it’s ok/good for UFC.

No chance Nate beats Woodley. Woodley won't get taken down by Diaz, and he can bang with the best of them. We've seen Woodley woudl rather be patient and win than go out swinging, so he will pick Nate off and win the boring way if required.

You would think that running on a treadmill might have occurred to SOMEONE in his camp. I'd be asking serious questions if I was him.

Yea I wasn't serious. He definitely has cardio problems but it can be improved. I feel he is just one of those guys that doesn't enjoy running.

Whenever I see his training videos he is either fighting, cycling, rowing or doing that underwater running.

I'm just not convinced he's the kind of guy to hit the roads or treadmill for a run

I don't know enough about his training habits, to be fair. Like you, I've seen the underwater running, the rowing and the fighting. To be honest, I'm not sure how much running would improve his cardio. Given that it has been a reoccurring problem it would be naive to think that steps haven't already been taken to remedy it. For whatever reason, they haven't proven to be much of a success to this point.

I think he over exerts to end fights early, either due to confidence in his ability, insecurity in his stamina or simply adrenaline... Probably a mixture of those things.

It's his style of fighting, and that won't change as it's served him well this long.

I think it's the size thing as well. The only times we have seen him struggle is against Diaz at 170lbs and against Mayweather where he was also supposedly around 170 at the time of the fight.

For a guy with his style and frame (5 ft 9) it's a lot of weight to carry.

He doesn't often get to the later rounds except vs Holloway but I'd imagine it would be a lot easier if he was 10-15lbs less

So 221 being in Australia, might it be on at a decent time for us Europeans?

Hopefully tomorrows show surprises me.

In fairness the main event SHOULD be great. I'd have much prefered Whittaker in there as he's actually likeable though. It's a bit of a case of who's less of an asshole in tomorrows main event. Two talented fighters but I can't really get behind either of them. Hopefully Whittaker recovers and defeats whoever wins tomorrow. I'd probably take Rockhold over Romero as I'd like to see him fight Whittaker which would probably be a cracking fight.

That card isn't to bad in fairness. It'd be a solid enjoyable card if it was a fight night. For PPV though it's a joke. Luckily in UK we get it with BT so i'll happily watch, I wouldn't if I had to pay for it though.

Most definately. In his fight plan he could drop off a little in a 3rd round and try and save that intensity for the 4th and 5th. He is so precise with his shots that he could shoot them off all through the fight and win handily without the ego boost of a 2nd round knockout. He needs to get back soon and get this part ownership in the company out of his head, his absence is annoying me now. Is there any reason why Dana won't give him the big one in Croke Park? Itwould be a huge spectacle and hugely profitable for the UFC.

video not available outside USA

what did the bald feck said?

I read somewhere that Dana said Woodley was delusional if he thinks he will fight Diaz next.

- UFC have offered Nate Diaz about 5 fights over the past year and he's turned them all down - so basically he's only interested in big "money fights".

- Holloway is injured/out against Edgar. Brian Ortega to replace him.

- Dana says UFC lawyers have told Woodley and his manager to stop misleading the public by saying he's fighting Nate Diaz. Says Tyron is likely fighting RDA next.

- Dana also takes his customary smack at Mario Yamasaki by calling him and idiot and moron, this time for not stopping last weekend's Shevchenko fight sooner. Says he will never ref a UFC fight again.

That Edgar vs Ortega fight gonna be a good one.

I wonder if Dana has any type of power regarding who the refs are.

Never seen Rockhold fight before, what can we expect from him?

Good range fighter, decent all round, uses kicks well (though that would be bad idea against the Cuban muscle crisis), good speed and had decent power. Great cardio too.

Issue is that he's hittable and whilst he doesn't have a glass chin, he still ain't no Justin Gaethje when it comes to taking punishment.

He's also a cocky cnut.

Romero missed weight then and can’t compete for a fake belt. I’m sure he’s not to bothered. Romero did have a short camp in fairness but he’s been involved in plenty of controversy on the UFC.

I hope Rockhold ends it quickly, I’m not his biggest fan but I much prefer him to Romero.

Was it Petis vs Holloway that had the same issue? Petis missing weight and Holloway won the belt. So only Rockhold can get the belt right? Hopefully Romero wins then so we can get rid of the farce which is interm belts

Yeah that’s right mate. I think the problem is like you allude to the interim belt means nothing. If Romero wins he’ll fight Whittaker for the title regardless of interim stuff.
