The MMA thread

Gastelum looks awesome at MW, hopefully he stays there. Has the clear speed advantage and has proven he can also do damage with his power.

Barboza with another highlight reel KO. Feel sorry for Dariush, feel he was winning that fight...

Gastelum definitely needs to move up the MW rankings and fight someone like Mousasi, Jacare, or Rockhold next. That will be a good test to see if they hype is real.

Right now, HW has suddenly turned into the most interesting division with Overeem creeping back into a title fight soon and Nganou and Lewis lurking with intent.

MW could also be a great division with Gastelum in the mix and GSP back in the picture at MW. Personally, I prefer him at WW since no one wants to see Woodley and Wonderboy fight again.

Goddamn Barboza is fecking terrifying. I am a big fan of both guys so while it was amazing, it sucks to see Dariush knocked out like that. Hopefully he recovers okay.

You could argue that Silva is the greatest ever and on his day he could still catch almost anybody but I honestly see Gastelum running through him. I'd lean towards a three round decision for Gastelum but him catching Silva at this stage in his career and finishing him wouldn't surprise me.

I'd love to see Gastelum go up against possibly Weidman who fights at 210 if he wins this fight.

Just watched the weigh ins. Despite the lacklustre names on the card, some of the matchups could make for an entertaining night.

yeah, some intense face2face. Hopefully they translate to good fights.

Duffy and Amirkhani at least, i got both finishing the fight in the first round.

Gunnar Nelson spills the beans on the McGregor-Mayweather mega-fight
Not many people have the chance to trade punches with Conor McGregor but fellow UFC fighter, Gunnar Nelson has been close to the lightweight champion for many years as his training partner at Ireland’s SBG Gym.

Nelson, who faces Alan Jouban this weekend at UFC London, is confident McGregor's rumoured super-fight with Floyd Mayweather could happen in June, and describes a potential flaw in Mayweather’s approach that may just tip the odds in the Irishman's favour.

Can't wait for this.

Can't believe it would happen so soon though.

early prelims about to start.

edit. 2 fights cancelled since yesterday... ffs.

nothing i hate more than a guy who can't do weight properly and professionally.

Dangerous fight for Duffy

He is expected to win, so unless he looks ultra impressive it won't move him too far along

A loss would be a disaster

Either way I obviously hope he wins and that now we see him more often.

He is probably flying the flag for Ireland for the foreseeable future

Maybe take back my earlier post

I'd forgotten how hard he was to finish

Duffy looked good. I like him a lot

Also the extrem opposite to Conor. Very reserved and respectful, maybe to a fault

He signed a new deal recently

He was bashing heads with UFC before that though

really?

i was sure it was his last fight of the contract and that he was going to test free agency?

Dana White would have not offered a better deal after this fight, probably even lower it, so he did good to sign it before.

My apologies

You are correct

But I had read that he was initially in conflict with UFC and it was sorted, so I assumed he signed a deal. But you are right it was his last

In that case, i can see him going to Bellator (their own Conor?) if the UFC offer is not good enough.

It would be a shame. Hopefully he can negotiate a good deal and stay at UFC.

yes, looking forward this next fight too.
