The MMA thread

That ending.

Edit - Also... another terrible stoppage. Refs need to be held accountable for terrible stoppages like that.

Lewis is a weird fighter his main attributes work well at heavyweight though in that he can punch hard and take a punch. I think he loses to the top level fighters though and if he fights Ngannou he loses that as well.

Dunno where Browne goes from here he's taken a few brutal losses in his last few fights.

Yamasaki is a fecking idiot. You're letting one of the meanest dudes at 260+ lbs rain down with shots on an out of it fighter over and over. Awful refereeing.

Got to love Lewis though. The only thing you worry about with him is his cardio which could be crucial against a couple of the top guys in the division (Miocic, Cain, JDS, Werdum), but he's a bad dude, would love to see him make it to the top. And that interview :D

On Hendricks, clearly happy after the win but it's tough to see how he's going to be successful at a top level again in the UFC. He can't go down a weight class because it destroys his body and at Middleweight he's going to struggle once he get's in there with tougher opposition. People like Rockhold will absolutely maul him. He's stuck in a bad position of not being able to fight at the lower weight due to it being too much of a weight cut and IMO not being good enough or big enough to fight at this weight, at least against the better fighters in the division (doesn't help him that he's stepped into a completely stacked Middleweight division, don't see him being able to beat any of the current top 10).

I think RDA will have similar problems to Hendricks. He seems a little small for WW

Just watched the main card now

Not a bad event at all

Lewis with one of my all time favourite post fight interviews

Went from needing to take a shit, to calling out a potential women beater to hitting on Ronda

Wow

Ngannou or Rothwell should be next for Lewis. He's not good enough for anything higher than that at the moment. Someone like JDS would beat him to a pulp.

He will never ever reach the top of the division

But he will make a good gatekeeper

Less than a week for the best fight MMA has to offer. Can't fecking wait.

Also, it seems Masvidal vs Maia is in the works. Got his hand forced it seems, it's either fight Jorge or keep waiting for the title shot eternally. fecking Dana... they clearly don't want a 39 old brazilian to be champ of anything.

I see that 209 is sunday, that means monday morning in Europe, right?

The short time i've followed mma/ufc, Maia is the one who has impressed me the most.
Can't see why he doesn't get a title shot.
You're either right about his age, or they don't appreciate his style.

It's this indeed. Masvidal has looked fantastic though, wouldn't surprise me if he'd knock him out before he can grab him. Would be an interesting fight.

Says sunday march 5. on their page.
That page gets things wrong sometimes. It's stupid.

Maia is an older Brazilian guy who has a style the UFC dont like and isn't an outspoken guy. He'll also probably hold the title for ages if he does win it. UFC will prevent him as long as they can unfortunately.

So i should believe football supporters over their official website? Sure! ;)

The fights i've seen, Maia barely gets injured, so he can go many fights each year, they could put up a new title fight every week to try to give it to someone more fancy.
I used to find gsp's fights boring, when he was humping them, but Maia climbing onto someone's back, is really fun to watch :)

wow i hope Bisping beats the crap out of him, and enough money to stop avoiding the contenders.

i love watching UFC so much, but i hope the company has a quick death so it can reborn as what it should be.

Dana white some time ago:

“Yoel Romero’s been floating out there a long time waiting for a title shot. Bisping wanted to do that grudge match with Dan Henderson. It was going to be Dan Henderson’s last fight. I’ve always shown Henderson the respect I felt he deserved. He’s a guy who’s fought everybody out there. So we did that fight and he’s got to defend his title now against the No. 1 contender,” White revealed on the latest “UFC Unfiltered” podcast.

“If you look at what Romero did to Chris Weidman, he absolutely deserves the shot.”
