The MMA thread

During the McGregor season they had weeks in America without new episodes becauee of the NBA etc. I think the world series started this week and may have taken the timeslot when cross schduled.

Seriously? How fecking annoying. You'd think they'd have enough channels to slot in in somewhere. Will it start again where it left off once the poxy baseball is over?

Just looked it up, postponed until November 2 in the States.

Aha. So it's not a BT issue? They've not been broadcast anywhere?
Nowhere else. I remember during the McGregor season they would merge two fights into the one episode to keep it on track for the finale date.
Two fights without any story or narrative they usually have.

The latin american version went ahead like usual. Yair Rodriguez and Demian Maia showed up to train and give corner instructions in the last episode. (Only one episode left before the final in mexico city)

I read in twitter, the new owners gonna cut TUF for good (low ratings), and replace it with a reality to cast new ufc ring girls...

A bit too soon for Garbrandt I suspect but he has a puncher's chance if he can stay patient and not get frustrated by Cruz (who must be one of the most frustrating fighters to face that has ever existed). With the way the belts have been switcharooing over the last few years I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a first round KO.

Still another week and a half until the next card, I'm already having fecking withdrawals.

yeah should be a good fight.

winner to fight Aldo for the FW title for sure. If Aldo fights of course...

the level of the FW division is quite low (except for holloway, aldo and edgar) looking at the top 10. Yair might be champion by the end of next year.

There is no future career in acting for this one.

I'd imagine Aldo fights again, he has pretty much backed down from all his retirement talk really.

Looking forward to Pettis vs. Holloway though, good fight and 206 desperately needed something else as it was a terrible card.

Just finished the last episode of TUF latin america 3 and both first picks of each "coach" made it to the final.

The final is on Nov 5 in Mexico (cucuy vs RDA), and just like last season, Peru and Mexico at the top.

Should be a cracking fight. Claudio "El Niño" Puelles (20yo) vs Martin "El Toro" Bravo (23yo), both super talented.

Is it tonight the UFC event is?
What time does it start European time?

don't bother man, the final is the only worthy fight to watch. The level was pretty average overall.

next weekend is the event.

Wasn't planning on watching anyway ;)
I liked the tuf series cause of the drama and fights in the house...
I'm such a drama queen.

I think Garbrandt will watch carefully Cruz vs Dillashaw match and maybe try to employ low-kicks tactics to slow down Cruz movement. He's been proven vulnerable against TJ in that 5th round. He has puncher's chance ofc i agree, but Cruz is so elusive it's incredible.

Anyone else starved of fights? This break has been torture

Fear not, starting next weekend, an event and in some cases two events every week until the week before xmas

Why don't you watch WWE? At least the acting is better.

Yeah the break has really dragged this time.

I'd much prefer if they could get it fixed to once a fortnight rather than this 6/7 in a month and then a month off malarkey that they do. One moment I feel slightly apathetic to the lesser cards (Fight Night et.al.) because they are wedged in between two big events with little to no respite and then the next I am left wanting even the shitiest of cards just to fill the hiatus. It worked a bit better when there was WEC and Strikeforce to fill the gaps, I suppose I should try to catch up with Bellator but I haven't bothered with it for 4-5 years.

Can't wait for RDA/Ferguson, going to be explosive. Really hope Ferguson finishes him. Lamas/Oliveira should be cracking too and I'll always love me some Diego Sanchez forever.

Almost dribble from the mouth when I look at the card a week later in 206. Absolutely ridiculous card.

Lorenz Larkin is teaching porn stars mma, NYRic hosting mma hour, idris Elba did what punk couldn't and win his debut fight and Werdum photo shopping his self into trouble....this is what happens when u go 3 weeks with no fights

I'd imagine the UFC are praying for Weidman to win now. I reckon they would of fancied at least 1 of Rockhold and Weidman to win their matches and if only 1 won given them Bisping. Weidman vs. Bisping is far more interesting than Bisping vs. Jacare or Romero and far easier to sell for them.

Bisping is calling out Nick Diaz to replace GSP at UFC206.

that rematch with Hendo was a fair gift, but 2 straight gifts would be too much. And i really like Bisping, but meritocracy has to be restored in the UFC.

Tbf to Bisping I guess his argument would be that Diaz would be a sort of bonus fight as he has to wait for the proper contenders to fight first anyway.

Of course that was before Jacare became free.

Mousasi should have waited and taken on jacare. as it is, jacare should get next shot.

No surprise in Rousey's recent comments that the Nunes fight will be one of her last fights, pretty much as expected and I imagine that's why they're now pushing Ronda/Cyborg more than ever because it'll likely actually happen if she beats Nunes. I'd say there's a very good chance that if she beats Nunes in two months Cyborg and possibly Holm will be her final one or two fights before she retires, maybe just Cyborg unless she's hell bent on getting revenge against Holly before bowing out. Good chance she'll be retired by the end of next year.

Seems like her hearts not in it. nunes will beat her I feel. but whether she wins or loses I think she's out.

I reckon she'll beat Nunes, after that I doubt she's that motivated to carry on though. Fair play to her either way she does come across as a dick but she's made a fortune and really did put womens MMA on the map.

Well Bisping was looking for a fight... ;)

Hehe...Bisping won't want to fight anyone who can beat him so he'll likely continue to run scared from the likes of Rockhold, Weidman, and Romero. His latest project is apparently wanting to fight Nick Diaz who hasn't won a fight in 5 years and GSP who hasn't fought in 3.
