The MMA thread

Plenty of other fighters have had bigger wins and have been able to not make a complete dick out of themselves. And it doesn't help that he keeps banging on about how much hes grown as a person and how much of an average and humble guy he is.

People are different though, they're people not robots who are programmed to act the same. So what if he told Rockhold to feck off. Why are people THAT bothered and why do people have to take sides on these things? It's just odd to me.

People may have had bigger wins (I struggle to really think of many in all honesty though, his chance had all but gone and now he's a world champion) but Bisping hasn't had a bigger win.

In the heat of the moment in the pressure of being in a UFC octagon I'd imagine that people get caught up. Outside the ring in all his interviews (except with Rockhold) he genuinely seems like an alright person and was quite humble...watch his one with Megan Olivi after the fight and he does seem really happy. Again I'm sure he can be a dick but then how do we know how we'd react in that situation?

Again I found it funny as feck, I'm not to worried about Rockhold I'm sure he's just fine albeit a bit embarrassed. Look at the other fighters in that press conference, Faber and Cruz were both laughing in there at some of the Bisping stuff so I doubt the fighters are that arsed either.

  • Rory MacDonald -115
  • Stephen Thompson -115

What a fight we have this weekend... the biggest non title fight of the year?

If i have to pick, i would go with Thompson by TKO at some point. He comes with such a momentum, and his level is ridiculous high.

Rory i don't know.. how you come out of a fight like vs Lawler? stronger or weaker?

I imagine one punch to the nose would be enough to break it again, or at least must be so fecking painful. And Wonderboy hits with iron fists...

Cerrone vs Coté is a tricky one. Cote is naturally bigger than Cerrone's last WW opponent. Cowboy might be in trouble i think. We'll see, should be a good one.

I think Thompson will win it, seems he's made to win the title as well...great fight though. Do like Rory and be a shame if he left after the fight as he's hugely entertaining to watch.

According to Helwani and Meltzer the UFC Sale is close....$4billion for 100% of the company.

Not sure how much of all of this to believe since Zuffa recently hired a lobbying firm to act on their behalf in regarding the having the Muhammad Ali Act apply to MMA. If they are about to sell the company, they wouldn't go through all that trouble to avoid future regulation.

Hard to say whether this is true or not, but if it is it would be a 20,000% profit in 16 years of operation. Dana would probably walk away with 400m and the Fertitas $1.6B each. Not bad for Frank who did feck all for most of that time.
It would be a 2000% profit but still amazing, I'm sure some people in the UAE are also gettin paid of the sale as they hold some shares as well.

It seems to be picking up some steam so I wonder when they would complete the sale by as I'm sure they'll want to be a part of the MSG show after how hard they worked.

Is it ? I know the Fertitas bought it for $2m in 2000 and would be selling for 4billion.

Yeah, I think you calculate return on investment by (gain from investment - cost of investment) then divide that by cost of investment. So comes in at 1999%. Obviously that is only if the figure quoted is correct.

anyone watching EFN50? just tuned in and wtf is going on...

is this always like this? live Orchestra, live singing, artistic performance, always part of the event? pretty cool.

"the people scream Feedor, that means Fedor."

yeah weird dude

Amazing he end up winning the fight after that first round... tough guy no doubt.

Not sure he would fare very good in the UFC though.

Fedor clearly shouldn't be fighting anymore. Btw in regards to the UFC sale, I've recently moved to Shanghai so maybe it will turn out good for me

I'm gonna miss Dana and his antics though.

Dana is staying apparently. He's selling his stock and then they're giving him 6% back or something like that! He's done well for himself out this sale.

Fedor should of retired years ago, if he goes to the UFC they'll either have to feed him to some can or just bring him in to lose a fight. Cant see any top fighters struggling against him, if that was the UFC it would of been stopped.

Uncomfortable viewing that finish

Letournou clearly didn't want to fight that 3rd round. She turned her back two or three times

Rory's tactic was to funnily shield himself then try to close the distance, but Wonderboy was just too slick for him.

Cerrone was amazing, he eats these midlevel guys like no one else.

Shanghai?

That's a dramatic move

Tell me about it! Interesting life experience though and I needed a change to be honest.

Just caught up with the card. Wonderboy has firmly stamped his spot in the next title shot then. The guy is too tricky for most to handle and his takedown defence has really developed to the point that he is big trouble for anybody.
