The MMA thread

Nah he will definitely go for someone like Rothwell or Overreem.
Nick Diaz isn't much bigger then him and he has jumped up 2 weight classes already. Its not hard to imagine Nick wanting a crack at him if he beats Nate Diaz.

In fact, he has even fought at Lightweight before. Its not off the tables if Nicks ban is removed.

I like Nate Diaz though. I think he has done well in this trash talk exchange. I don't think he will win but I do like his not give a shit attitude.

Little embarrassed to admit that besides from the main event, the girls' main event, and Corey Anderson, I've never heard of any of these fighters on the main card. Besides the McGregor vs Diaz fight, are any of these fights worth watching? Not really into seeing girls fight either.

It's a good card from top to bottom

How have you heard of Corey Anderson and not some of the others?

I like the matchmaking on the card but there's nothing to be ashamed about if you are more of a casual fan. It's not stacked in the same way 189 or 194 were.

UFC are changing their way of ordering cards now too. They are focusing much more on having 'prelim headliners'. Sanchez vs Miller would have been a lock for the main card slot just before the co-main otherwise and the Villante - Latifi fight would be down in the prelims. UFC are really pushing fight pass at the moment.

Does Nate Diaz have brain damage/some sort of impediment?

I'm convinced he has some sort of CTE type brain damage. If you listen to him talk in post fight interviews from 5 or more years ago, he could actually still talk in full coherent sentences. Not so much these days .

Yeah I haven't seen much of him in the past but my first impression of him in the recent presser I saw was that he seems to have taken too many blows to the head. It's not that he even seems uneducated he just doesn't seem to be able to follow the conversation or properly answer questions.

Yeah that's about the state of it nowadays. I'll watch every free fight, but maybe only 4-5 PPVs per year. I got into MMA in 2006 and my interest in it since 2010 or thereabouts has been steadily waning. Will still watch all the big fights, but almost all my favorite fighters (Chuck Liddell, BJ Penn, Rampage, GSP) have hung it up. Conor McGregor is one of the rare guys that I'll keep an eye out for when he's fighting cos he's so damn entertaining.

I can understand that. I was a bit late to the party before I properly got into it so not reached that stage.

There's some really interesting fights on. Want to see Thatch, Silva, Shevchenko and Latifi.

That's what I had thought. Along with how unfocused he is in interviews he really looks like something isn't right. Especially with Conor, who sounds like he's reading rehearsed lines at times, but is still so calculated.

It means I don't really dislike him as annoying as he comes across, because he seems to have the mind of a child and I can't judge him too harshly

Usually want to see Connor lose because he is over the top annoying but repsect his fight game....I dont see Nate coming out of this with a win.

I'm sick of the circlejerk in Ireland about him.
