Worst of the best
Hard to score that 3rd round
It's possibly 2-1 to condit

What a fight! Definite rematch on the cards there. Think Condit should have won it but then the last round may have swayed it towards Robbie. And excellent gentlemanly conduct by both of them.
I don't think he will retire. He will just need a holidayDunno about a rematch. Condit seems like he's ready to retire from the sport.

Looking at an interview with him with Helwani he seems genuinely sad and pissed off post fight, whereas immediately after in the ring he seemed to take it very well
I reckon it was more an emotional response when he suggested retirement
Lawler was unlucky not to finish him in the 5th, Condit looked out on his feet at one stage and on another day in a fight that wasn't for the title there's every chance the referee stops that.
Yup. A good move for him I reckon initially. But if he climbs the ranks, surely the likes of McDonald, Woodley, Hendricks will be too much for him
That was pretty bad from Duffy. Looked good on the feet but takedown defense was non-existent and on the ground he got punished. Nearly stole it with a triangle towards the end.
I've been back and watched the 3rd round again and still can not see how Condit clearly won that round. The first 2 minutes of the round, Lawler landed the more significant punches and had a nice elbow that stopped Condit in his tracks, Condit had a nice jumping knee to the body but Lawler still pressed forward. The next 2 minutes was Condit attempting a lot of punches that never landed, he landed some nice leg kicks and a lot of attempted kicks to keep Lawler coming forward as much. But again they weren't landing clean as Lawler was always out of range and usually going backwards or sideways when they were landing. The last minute Condit had a bit more successs but nothing that made me think it was better than what Lawler had done in the first 2 minutes of the round.
People saying it was clear or it was robbery are insane, it was far from it. Maybe if it was on volume alone then Condit would have wn the fight but just because you are throwing a lot of stuff it doesn't mean you are landing anything amazing. It was a very close fight and ultimately it was the fifth round that decided it and this is when Lawler showed up and poured it on, you do feel for Condit because it was a close fight but ultimately he was pipped in the fifth round.
Lawler is a deserving champion always brings it and keeps it going until the last bell. The welterweight title fights wouldn't be half as exciting if he was not in the last few title fights so some of the criticism of him is poor.

Condit threw 500 significant strikes and lost.....
It's disingenuous to suggest Condit wasn't throwing with power. He was, I'd guess if you actually checked, Condit threw at least 2x as many actual power shots. Both fighters were economic with their striking. Carlos threw a lot of measuring fluff strikes, but he mixed in a lot of power shots. Robbie on the other hand didn't throw much at all, but when he did it was with bad intention. So both guys threw their power shots, but one guy saved energy by throwing only power shots and the other guy mixed up his power shots with lots of measuring shots.
