The MMA thread

One thing that is severely irksome about the UFC is how they seem to promote certain fighters and discard others. Thinking mainly of Northcutt, Conor, Paige on one hand, and the likes of Aldo, Miesha Tate, and probably a few others on the other side. Seems like a bit of a passive aggressive operation.

Aldo is known to be very hard to deal with and he won't do media.

Tate got plenty of promotion when she was fighting for the title. She's not good enough to be a champion so there isn't much point of them pushing her again. Plus she's an idiot.

Conor promotes himself.

I actually think this 13 second loss may be good for his publicity. People will be more interested in him now.

Also, cancelling drug tests will piss off your employer.

Spilling your piss during a surprise drug test AND trying to get the USADA drug tester deported/arrested causes concern. Aldo, Belfort, Wandy, Anderson etc. They all have dodgy pasts. It's a Brazilian MMA thing.

They promote the fighters that will make the most money. It's very simple

Also they will drop any of those mentioned like a hot snot at barely moments notice if it suits them

Why would they put money into promoting a fighter that the majority (AKA the casuals) don't care about?

Duffy fight is very early tonight, which is good for the Irish. But there isn't too many other fights I'm that interested in after other than co-main and main event which is gonna be a brawl.

Pretty average card on paper especially for a main PPV. That said I've said that plenty of times and it turns out to be an incredible show. Hopefully the case tonight.

yep, Soto won it for me, but I've seen worst decisions.

Great performance for Pourier. Was in trouble for a little bit in the first round but overcome it pretty well.

Was a good debut for Duffy as well, nice striking as expected but has a lot of work to do in the other areas. His takedown defense is pretty shit.

Really liked how Duffy started the fight looked great standing up but then got pretty much destroyed

Disappointed with Duffys ground game. He is meant to be a lot better on the mat

That was pretty bad from Duffy. Looked good on the feet but takedown defense was non-existent and on the ground he got punished. Nearly stole it with a triangle towards the end.

Brandao was doing so well at not rushing in and being calm and then shit his load in the third round and paid for it

tumenov's entrance song is weird

Condit is a very good fighter and from a great gym. They will have a sound game plan that might not be pleasing on the eye but might stump Lawlor

I think it's a hard one to call
Cheers. Put $100 on Lawler before I read your post. I know Condit's a tough dude and Greg Jackson runs a great gym, but think Lawler will be too much for him. Got it at -105.

If I had to bet I would probably go for Lawlor too

But wouldn't be shocked to see condit grind a 5 rounder

54 seconds. No questions there, Miocic caught him lovely in more or less the same spot twice and it was curtains.

He came across like a nice enough there too.
