The MMA thread

With pretty much everybody, I have no idea who to call for this match. Its a coin toss imo. Hope we get a great fight.

Even the Vegas odds make this out to be a tight match. One thing's for sure, this match is going to be really fun to watch.

What a first round that was! So close and even! Great start and pressure from Weidman, but Rockhold's good defending and guillotine attempts brought him back in the round. Weidman's the one who expended more energy, and Rockhold will be full of confidence with the end of that round.

Given the hype for this fight, decided to tune into MMA for the first time. I'm missing some nuances but just seems to be two blokes hugging each other a lot of the time. Presumably I'll need to watch more to appreciate this.

Thought the first round was very even. Could have went either way but Weidman probably just shaded it. Think Rockhold took the second though.

Rockhold's kicks have been amazing this round. They've left Weidman flat-footed and fatigued. Still, Weidman did a good job taking advantage of Rockhold's more open approach with a good kick to the body towards the end. It's looking difficult for Weidman to get into his rhythm. Rockhold has the advantage now.

I think Rockhold hurt himself on one of his attacks during that second round. It looked for all the world like he had him but then backed off and he's been slower ever since.

... or not.

Why didn't Herb Dean give Rockhold a TKO? Weidman was really groggy there. Anyways, Weidman won't be able to survive the fourth round now.

Holy feck, Weidman was winning that round, then took a beating with a minute or so left.

Wow..that's brutal. How is that even allowed? seems a bit barbaric to keep smashing a guy while's he on the floor.

Weidman was winning until he tried the slowest roundhouse kick ever seen. Jesus he payed for that.

Without doubt...he wasn't blocking anything. Just because he still had his hands up didn't mean he was 'defending' himself.

Exactly. And waiting it out because it's near the bell isn't an excuse. If that was mid round it 100% gets stopped. You could tell Herb Dean was just waiting for the bell.

That spinning wheelkick whatever attempt by Weidman might have been the dumbest thing he did in his career...

87 head strikes in the space of 5 minutes cannot be pretty for your long term health.
