The MMA thread

What a classless idiot Diaz is. Punching GSP when the bell is clearly gone. I don't think any other fighter would have let Diaz save face at the end of the fight like GSP did; he's just too classy and nice a human being, something these Stockton thugs could learn.

Yeah, GSP is a very classy guy. But the baddie vs the goodie always makes it more exciting. Diaz is always more than willing to fill the latter. I just think characters like him make it that tad more interesting the spectator.

Predictable fight in the end. I wish GSP had put more effort into finishing him. I don't know too much about fighting techniques, but why doesn't GSP utilise those knees to the body more often, like the ones he used to finish Serra? He hit Diaz with one. They look absolutely devastating.

I think it should be a better fight with Hendricks. Hendricks is a decent wrestler and may have a decent chance of preventing so many GSP takedowns. GSP will not want to trade with him so it should be interesting but at this stage I'd still back a GSP decision.

Hendricks will have to sort his cardio out, looked like he was gassing at the end of the second, and had lost all the power in his punches.

Awesome that Dana announced Rousey and the winner of Tate/Zingano fight will coach the next TUF and it'll be women and men fighters, expect shit to be going off in that one. Rousey/Tate would make for a cracking season.

Condit/Hendricks was an outstanding fight while the main event was basically domination. You cant help but feel if GSP really wanted to, he could of dominated even more too. Hendricks poses a threat with his striking, but his cardio will need mass improvement in time for that one otherwise he's at danger of being dominated like most others have been.

The fight will start on the feet though and Hendricks will be a big threat with his striking. GSP clearly gets bruised & cut easily enough. Hendricks is a good wrestler so GSP won't have it all his own way.

Obviously GSP would still be heavy favourite. I could see Hendricks winning the first two rounds and then GSP coming back and smothering him and win a decision or win by g&p.

Hendricks will surely improve his cardio though if he knows he is going into a 5 round fight.

Cracking fight between Hendricks and Condit. Both come out with their reps enhanced. Carlos definitely would've won if it was a 5 rounder.

Aside from working on his cardio Hendricks needs to learn to set up that left hand a bit better. If he jumps in like that against GSP he'll get taken down a lot although at least his wrestling background makes that a more interesting fight.

The title fight was predictable as hell. Diaz might as well retire (again) because I don't see him beating the likes of Hendricks and Ellenberger either. That division is stacked.

If he was to carry on then a match against Maia might be interesting from a BJJ point of view.

Where can I catch the vids of the fights? My fecking laptop screen wouldn't work and I can't watch flash on this fecking Nexus.

Screw you, GSP!

Granted he dominated Diaz the entire fight but "the worst beating the world has ever seen"? Are you fecking kidding me? If he really thinks that, he should start watching other fights. For example, the Condit vs Hendricks fight which was nothing short of amazing. Condit has got one hell of a chin too, awesome fighter. I hope they schedule Ellenberger vs Hendricks and the winner of that fight gets his title shot.

I do love Condit. He is the sort of "back to the wall" fighter who doesnt give up even when you think he must be absolutely screwed. Hendricks landed some solid blows and he just kept on coming, you would have to physically knock him out to stop him it seems.

Nah Hendricks deserves his shot now.

Ellenberger v McDonald could set up the next contender but I don't think Rory and GSP will fight each other.

feck knows where that would leave Condit though.

Indeed, he's just after money now. He's even asking to fight Anderson

That wouldn't even be a fight.

Diaz said he'd be a better match up for Silva. He'd be knocked out in the first round. At least GSP would continually take Silva down. Silva would be unable to stop it.

I disagree. I thought the same as you for a while, but not anymore. Silva is just so much bigger than GSP and has so much functional strength, so I don't think GSP would take him down too easily. Nick Diaz even stuffed some of GSPs takedowns last Saturday

Well that was as predictable as everyone thought it would be. I honestly don't think Hendricks will pose any major problems to GSP either, but he still deserves the shot. Condit has probably been GSP's toughest fight in recent years, I think?

Why not? I don't think GSP can take even one of the punches that he landed on Condit, and I think Hendricks will be able to stuff some of GSPs takedowns. Don't get me wrong, I still think GSP will probably win, but in my opinion it's definitely the worst stylistic match up he's had since Matt Hughes

Simply because of Hendricks fight vs Koscheck.

I think Hendricks vs GSP will just go the same way that GSP vs Koscheck went. He won't fight anywhere near as wild as Condit and will rely on his reach and jab Hendricks to death.

He stuffed some, but not enough. I just can't imagine GSP not being able to take Silva down. Maybe you're right.

Ah, but now Hendricks knows that GSP "punches like a girl" so Hendricks can rush in and take whatever digs he needs to just to clock GSP. And GSP cuts up easily when touched.

I'm really looking forward to that one, much more so that GSP v Diaz.

I just think of the 3rd round where GSP looked a bit tired, and Diaz landed a few on him and never followed it up. If Anderson gets a small opening like that he'll fecking kill GSP. I'd love to see that fight though.

Yea, so am I! I hope Hendricks has the balls to rush in and risk getting tagged to hit GSP.

Been a couple of cuts so far, Lavar Johnson has just been released and he failed a drug test.
