The MMA thread

Sonnen is a cool guy. When he isn't doing his whole pro wrestling promotion style stuff, he comes across really well. You should check out his podcast with Joe Rogan if you ever get the time. Some brilliant stories in there and really enjoyable podcast.

Is it just the one podcast? I listened to a load of Rogan ones and I thought they were shite? I'd listen to Sonnen all day,

His podcasts really depend on the guests, to be honest. Chuck Liddell and Enson Inoue were on recently, it was great as well. Just the one podcast yeah, here it is.

Chael Sonnen
Bass Rutten
Chuck/Enson
Josh Barnett x 2
Mac Danzig

They're his best podcasts, imo. Mainly because they talk a lot about fighting.

UFC 160

Cain vs Bigfoot

Overeem vs JDS

That's all that's been put on the card for now but fecking hell, it's great already.

Again, seriously? Pfft, it's only been a couple of moths ago he completely destroyed him. Disappointing, altough like Cass said I don't know who else they could have lined up against him at this point, what a shit division.

The Icelandic MMA record stands now at a 11-0-1. Gunnar seemed to wanting the fight to be stand up. Good job finishing it as such as his ground game is much stronger. Very happy for him. Look out for him in the welterweight division.

It was the cut that ruined that first fight though, to be fair. Cain still destroys him again probably in the rematch but when you're as heavy as Bigfoot you never know. No one expected him to beat Overeem either.

Yea, he's very good. I read he got his BJJ Black belt in four years from Renzo Gracie himself, seriously impressive. He looks a little undersized at welterweight though I thought but if keeps on winning I suppose it doesn't matter.

That card was pretty boring all round though.

He likes to fight bigger opponents. He's a very calm dude now. It's weird. We grew up in the same neighbourhood, used to hang out sometimes and have the same friends and him and his closest friends were a bit nutty in the youth. Used to get in trouble all over the place. He even got stabbed twice downtown, once in the neck if I remember correctly. Still managed to beat that guy up. Now he's quite the opposite. Dead calm all the time. Very professional.

Man I loved that speech last night from Sonnen on TUF, the one about the plank and then the lead in to about emotions not winning fights. Cant believe how he's turned me around. During the lead in to the Silva feud, I'd put him alongside Koscheck as somebody I absolutely hated and wanted to see get battered, but once that all came to an end I've started to really like the guy and so far throughout the show it's just growing more and more. He actually comes across as a really nice guy outside of his heel shtick.

Really enjoyed seeing

Bubba lose too.

How pissed off will Dana White be if Rousey gets knocked the feck out early?

Also, I'm convinced that Lyoto Machida and Franco Di Santo are the same person.

I'm not a huge fan of women's fighting. Although I have enjoyed Rondas fights.

But if she loses the chances are the division will never take off.

Might not be such a bad thing.

Sonnen is brilliant. I love listening to him.

Great work from Lawler. Been a favourite of mine since his first stint in UFC so great to see him beat that tit Koscheck. His defence on the ground looked on a completely different level than I remember, against one of the best wrestlers in the division too.

That was a entertaining fight, shame it finished so early. But still a good step for the woman's division

Why? He is a great lad although I dont like his style.

I know, I know! I just hate his style, especially when he's unreasonable enough not to allow Hendo to punch his jaw really hard. It was a particularly bad style match-up for Hendo, but its good to see his chin is still made out of titanium and that he can remain competitive with the elite of the division.
