The MMA thread

Bisping fighting against Belcher at 159. Both coming off loses so its vital for both. I think Belcher's style will suit Bisping. It's the co main event though which frankly doesn't say much for the card in my opinion. Even the main event looks like a total mismatch.

UFC 156 however
I haven't been this excited for a UFC card in a long time.

Apparently next week's program will have one of the best knockouts ever seen in mma, or is that the one you are talking about?

That clip also appeard after the first episode, looks like they are pumping it big time !

Good stuff but what a shit pick for the first fight from Jones

You cant really tell if it was a bad pick from jones, Gilbert didn´t get beat the shit out, was a scramble all the way, but Gilbert didn´t do anything he was told to...

But man finally some talents on the show !

Who are u guys going for ?

Uriah Hall must surely be the big favourite. Only lost to Weidman and took Constantinos Philippou to a decision.

I agree, but still Clint Hester is my favourite. Jones first pick and looks in a fantastic shape.

But everyone will be talking about Uriah, could do good for the other underdogs.

I´m also surprised about Sonnen´s mouth, hasn´t been talking much shit so for.

i just love Jon jones so much, someone from his team must win and Jones must smash the shit out of Sonnen in UFC 159

Spoiler regarding the show, don't read if you don't want to know.

He's the one who get's knocked out by "the craziest knockout I've ever seen" or whatever Dana says. Shame as he looked great, guess there's always a chance of him making the wildcard though

I wouldn't mind seeing Clint Hester win it. I picked him on UFC's fantasy fighter to win it.

Thought Barnatt looked really average actually. No real ground game and didn't do anything all that impressive while it was standing. Can see him getting dominated by a more experienced and well rounded fighter, unless he really improves from now until the QF's.

UFC 156 will be the best card in a long time, well it is on paper anyway.

I'm gonna go with the following:

Jose Aldo v Frankie Edgar
It could go either way, but I'd bet Aldo to win the first 3 rounds, and Edgar the last 2.

Rashad Evans v Lil Nog
Evans to win by wrestling & ground and pound

Alister Overeem v Big foot Silva
Overeem to knock him out in round one

Jon Fitch v Damian Maia
I think Maia will submit him. If not, it could be a boring Fitch fight (as usual) where he takes Maia to the ground early in each round and just lies on top of him

Benavidez v McCall
This could be fight of the night. I have no idea who will win, so I just picked one.

Hard to go against this, but then again anything is possible as we've seen tonight.

Yeah, the Bigfoot finish was glorious and had me up out of my seat. Him going batshit insane as Herb Dean tried to hold him back was a crazy sight, looked like he wanted to murder Overeem.

Loved Big Foot's KO of the Reem. When you talk so much shit, you better make sure you don't get KO'd. Overeem's propensity to tire and his questionable chin makes me wonder if he'll be able to win the title let alone dominate the division at all.

Would be nice to see Aldo fight Pettis next, if that happens.

And when did Faber agree to fight Rousey?

The Reem knockout was class. I can't see Silva getting close to either JDS or Cain though. Overreem would stand a better chance in my opinion. I'm sure the UFC will try and push Overreem back up the ladder.

Are you sure about that spoiler? From what I've been lead to believe he's the one doing the knocking out.

 @ Overeem. He asked for that.

I keep watching it in slow motion over and over. He must hit him with about 5/6 more shots after he was 'out'.

Looked like he kept waking him up and putting him back out again.

Can't say I didn't find it amusing. He's a bully and a cheat.

It was bitter sweet. I loved seeing him get destroyed, but now for the time being we lose out on Cain or JDS V Overeem.

Only going on what I've read across the net. Apparently:

It 'clearly' shows a black guy being stretchered into the ambulance in the preview for tonight's show, which would mean it's him. I've not bothered to waste my time looking over it, but that's what loads of people are saying across a few of the MMA sites.

I'd rather they were wrong, but we'll see tonight.

Hasn't Bigfoot pissed hot too?

That KO was brutal. Apparently the guy was out for a lot longer but obviously they chopped it down for tv.

Dana had said in an interview prior to this season that were was a fighter on there who kept sending people to hospital and everyone else was sh*t scared to fight him. Guess we've found our man.

Sonnen is a cool guy. When he isn't doing his whole pro wrestling promotion style stuff, he comes across really well. You should check out his podcast with Joe Rogan if you ever get the time. Some brilliant stories in there and really enjoyable podcast.

Hmmm, not sure I want to see Bigfoot and Cain again after last time.

That said I guess they don't have anyone else. Overeem was obviously who they wanted until Silva cleaned his clock. The inevitable rubber match with JDS will come at a later date and Cain and Cormier won't fight each other.

Werdum will probably be in contention should he beat Minotauro in a few months.
