The MMA thread

I think it’s a fair decision. As far as I was aware judges were instructed that they have to give most weight to significant strikes and damage… and that takedowns and control aren’t worth as much when not accompanied by effective strikes etc.

Yan got takedowns and control time but did very little with it and didn’t land much ground and pound. It’s definitely a better way to score fights when we want excitement for the fans.

Takedowns and Ground control generally play such a huge part in points scoring, so unless they’ve changed the judging rules for this event then that is most certainly a robbery.

What a great time of the evening to be watching main events eh pals?

Aljo can’t get a break in how he is viewed

Yan deservedly DQ’d. Beats Yan in razor close decision but performs far better in that 2nd fight. Now about to beat TJ who has a dislocated shoulder

A robbery then an injury loss. What a fecking load of shit. Like taking a shitload if viagra then getting stood up, this card

Man I don't like TJ but you have to commend the heart there.

Unfortunately I think this is the end for him though, blowing out his knee and then dislocating his shoulder in consecutive fights in the opening round of both is probably evidence his body can't hold up anymore.

Kinda glad I watched a stream tonight instead of forking out €30

The winner of the main event will face Volkanowski. Already confirmed.

That was a shocking decision. I thought Yan won that.
It was a shite decision, Yan’s had a few tough ones. The second Aljo one I thought was a 50/50, not a robbery. But that one tonight was a load of shit

He's done in terms of the title anyway. He might have a few more fights but it'll be for the money only.

I really want Oliveira to win this but just can't shake the feeling that Islam is gonna put on a dominating performance, Charles best chance might be to keep this on the feet as I do think he has an advantage there but it's gonna be tough.

So you're a casual fan if you don't agree with you. It wasn't a robbery. Yan won in my opinion, but you need to look up what a robbery is if you think that is one. Yan clearly won the second, O'Malley more than likely won the third. The first was close.
You’re not just disagreeing with me but all major media judgements. Yan won all 3 rounds, the only close round was the first.

Yeah I’m expecting an Islam win. Yeah ve called everything wrong so far though, so

Same boat. Charles TKO incoming (if he doesn't get smeshed to death  ).

Don't think we get past the 3rd round. Someone getting finished.

Fingers crossed you keep you're streak up then
Charles just always seems to give his opponents openings because of how aggressive and willing to walk into the fire he is and I expect Islam to jump on those openings and make him pay, hope I'm wrong.

What are you talking about. 75% of the media scored it 30-27 Yan. You are convincing yourself. This is ridiculous that it’s even a conversation

I don’t care what the media score it… you can either read and understand the scoring criteria or remain ignorant. That fight was not a robbery given that Yan did not achieve anything very significant with his takedowns and control time.

Sounds so weird hearing Bruce Buffer talk about Call of duty

I feel TJ asking the ref not to stop it pre fight should t really come into play.

:( Went about as expected unfortunately, Islam is gonna be a tough champ to dethrone.

edit: although the advantage I thought Charles had on the feet wasn't there.

Charles didn't really do himself justice there.

Islam might hold onto that belt for a while.

Wow that was a brutal beat down. Very impressed by Islams stand up. So dominant. I thought he might have been fast tracked too soon to a title shot but I was way wrong
