The Manchester Title Race

Realistically we could be eight points ahead of them in ten days' time, and I fully expect us to at least be more than two points ahead of them.

Sunderland (H)
Arsenal (A)

much harder than
Blackburn (A)
QPR (H)

I just hope that those two don't start putting a great run of form together amidst the relegation battle. They've already beaten Arsenal and Liverpool, albeit at home but still.

I'm a little bit worried about those two. QPR didn't play badly at all today, they're going to have a huge injection of confidence after those two wins.

Blackburn is a huge game, we have to win regardless of the performance.

After that 3 of the next 4 games are at OT (QPR, Villa & Everton) and we have Wigan away - I'd expect us win those 4 games before the derby.

Plenty of twists and turns left, Blackburn away is never easy, QPR and Wigan have turned it around recently too. Momentum is with us I feel, if we don't win it from here we will only have ourselves to blame.

If we do our job right in the next two matches, go eight points clear, they're away to Arsenal next Sunday.

If all goes to plan, we've one hand on the title IMO.

We can't screw this up away to Blackburn now, we must not. Our recent form there hasn't been great.

Horrible defending from Sunderland on those two goals, but still two points dropped! What a day for us :D

Yeah.. It was definitely a game you'd have no hope and expect city to take 3 points from, they've been playing well at home ...Sunderland done us a big favour.

Absolutely imperative that we win our next two games. City going away to Arsenal knowing they are 8 points behind could be a killer blow.

Wigan are on the up too, don't forget. We've three games against clubs who are fighting for their lives. To win all three will be difficult, but City have undoubtedly given us some breathing space.

Today proves just how unexpected results happen at this point of the season. Great day yes, but not as done and dusted as certain people seem to think. If we do win on Monday then there will be even more pressure on City against Arsenal than originally anticipated.

A win at Blackburn would put us well in command of the league, anything less and that late salvo from the bitters could become a huge moment.

I think Arsenal are a team they'll enjoy playing against next week, despite their struggles on the road. They struggle with dogged, organised sides, backed by a fervent support(see Everton, Stoke, and Swansea), Arsenal won't go down that road, they'll open the game up and try to beat City at their own game, something that'll allow City the space they like and which they can be deadly with if they get it. I'm more hopeful of a City slip-up at Norwich the week after tbh.

Either way, the Blackburn match is crucial for us and we just need to focus on our own job.

I just know we're going to let them off the hook come monday night :(

Mancini saying he thinks it'll be a draw on Monday night

I don't think Sir Alex would give that reply. I think Sir Alex would say how we just need to do our own thing and not worry about anybody else.

He's cracking up, he's cracking up, he's cracking....Bobby's cracking up

Why is Mancini so desperate to predict our results?

Blackburn is a huge game. I hope to God we don't underestimate them. Treat it as a cup final ffs.

It's a complete crumble from the lot of them. Fergie's reply should be done on the pitch on Monday then toast it in the post-match interview.

Tbh I don't expect a win Monday night either but City's result today has given us some breathing space. We will extend the lead next week imo.

Not a huge surprise that Mancini is saying that. Us drawing there isn't unfeasible and if you're a City fan and being 'optimistic' that is the result you'd be envisaging I think, much like how we all anticipated them drawing at Stoke last weekend.

Obviously as United fans who try to be optimistic ourselves, we're all envisaging a win. But I don't think many of us here are expecting to coast it on Monday. Blackburn have a lot to play for with all the other results today and it's a gritty place to go at the best of times. Lads will need to be controlled and up for it.

We'll drop points against Blackburn and we'll be saying the United always does it the hard way thing

I'm not sure there's any mind trick that could work on our team. Even if he went the 'United's to win' route you know that won't phase us, just business as usual!

Saying he expects us to draw is dumb, will just make us more motivated.

It is completely ours to throw away now. It will take an almighty feck up from us and some great results for City to turn this around.

Mancini has just told Sky-Sports in his post-match interview that he believes Blackburn vs Manchester United will be a draw.

Didn't he just say 'they can do a draw'? If that's all he said it's an entirely fair comment, we hardly ever have an easy game there.

Tbf, he was bob on with his Spurs prediction...Then again he did say we'd "win every game" before his latest gaze into the crystal ball

Win Monday (and we will) it will be the day it became a one man sprint.

Win tommorow (and we will) it will be the day it became a one man sprint.

I think so too. It will be a big ask for city to go to arse next week and win. If they drop more points and we beat Bburn and QPR we would have a 7 or 8 point advantage with 6 remaining games.

If we can keep winning and City don't turn it around they could be giving us a guard of honour on the 30th. It's the kind of thing you don't even dare dream of as a football fan...

Our last two games look very dodgy...

Tbh I don't expect a win Monday night either but City's result today has given us some breathing space. We will extend the lead next week imo.

I didn't expect us to beat Spurs 3 goals away at WHL, I didn't expect us to batter Wolves away (due to us getting beat there last season).

We have momentum, we know what's required.

Blackburn and QPR are both tough tough games, and I will not be surprised in the slightest if we drop points in one of them at least

Imagine how sweet it would be to confirm the title before the city game
It'll never happen, because that is the third last game of the season and we'd have to have a 10 point lead going into the game but still, the look on their faces would be priceless.

Looking very good for us now though, if we win we will be 5 points ahead, and then we play again before city take on arsenal so it could well be a 6-8 point gap between us with them going to arsenal.

There is no way in hell we will drop points to QPR at home, maybe Blackburn though.
