Gaming The Legend of Zelda | Earthquake: "It's actually ridiculously good, and keeps getting better." ★★★★★

So how far is everyone into this? Is there a way to check your total play time?

Possible spoilers ahead. I want everyones checklist

My checklist

3 out of 4 Divine beasts. The order I did them in; Zora, Goran, Rito. About to start Gerrudo

58 Shrines done

15 hearts and one extra full stamina wheel

Only about 16 seeds, and I cant find the fecking maraca lad that takes them anymore. I met him initially and then in 2 stable areas. But he is gone. Apparently there are 900 seeds to collect in the game
Not at home but below is close enough to what I've done.

2 Divine Beasts - Zora and Gerrudo
Close to 50 Shrines
12 Hearts and 2 full stamina wheels + a fifth of the next one
59 seeds (not a hope of finding them all )

Would love to see my total time played too.

Shame you can't find total play time, indeed.

3 Divine Beasts, just the Goran one left.
82 Shrines complete,
18 hearts and 2 stamina wheels, but I have 14 Soul Orbs unspent.
48 seeds.

Now I'm cutting through side missions mostly, and planing on grinding for upgrade material and gemstones.

Has the switch not got a daily log function?

The Wii and Wiiu have one. Tells you how long you'd spent playing and divides it into playing time for each game. It'd be a shame if they've stopped doing that for the Switch.

Edit: It must have some sort of log, as per the picture below.

Why does it always rain on me?
Went up to the goron volcano to escape it, and the first thing i see when i get down?
A big dirty storm. Feels like the game is set in Ireland

I haven't been productive at all anyway
Finished first 2 divine beasts (second one primarily because i was really, really sick of being rained on)
Have about 7 hearts, 1 and a half stamina bars and down to about 20 ish korok seeds

I have caught about 20 horses though

Probably. Dropping from the hang glider, to slow mo killing some lookouts, to landing on your shield and sliding straight into an enemy camp is one of the finest things in gaming ever :)

Another thing you've possibly missed, for example, did you know you can start a fire anywhere and use the warm air to fly up high? That helps with climbing, raiding and general scouting. Plus it's kick-ass against those giant bokoblin cyclops things.

Know them ones,
Randomly setting fire to a forest was very educational :)
(before i angered the rain gods, when i could set fire to stuff)

And equipping a fire sword/other fire weapon will keep you warm when it is cold, apparently.

Works with torches all right

In the rain, you can still light fires under the bigger trees ;)

But yeah, the rain can be a pain, but for shield surfing it's ace!

Rain Shield Surfing does sound like it could be cool, have to give that a try

Killing an enemy with an ice weapon will give you frozen food. Likewise killing an enemy with a fire weapon will give seared food.

You can drop food in cold places to freeze them too, or hot places to sear them, also fire weapons can be used to light torches and start camp fires.

Oh, and having an ice weapon equipped will keep you cool in hot areas, and the opposite with fire weapons. Lots of neat little details like this in the game.

I guess i can share one too.
If you shoot an ice arrow at the fire talus you can climb on him without getting burned

Just unlocked my last tower. I'm glad they're doing DLCs because using this map for just one adventure would be a shame.

I admire them for not relying too much on nostalgia, but still wish they used more music from the past. Being in Gerudo and not hearing the Gerudo theme makes me sad.

Ive completed the 4 dungeons, unlocked the entire map

Dont want to finish the game yet so the weekend will be dedicated to getting all the remaining shrines. Another 60 to go

Oh and now game play timer is up. Im too ashmamed to admit what it is

I've only just done the first dungeon (zora) for that very reason. I'm stringing it out and still am not even close to being bored, that's incredibly rare these days for me!

I'm on around 35hrs and have barely scratched the surface.

I've one dungeon left, and then on to Ganon, but I've spent the last few days doing busy work, side-quests, taking on Lyonels, collecting upgrade parts, etc.

I'm torn though, I kind of want to draw it out, as it's been so much fun, but I also want to finish the game, as I have other games that need playing(got Hyrule Warriors in the post the other day) and some FM saves that needs to be polished off.

Still plenty of shrines to find though(I've 97 done and have two more found), and gear to unlock/buy/upgrade.

@Earthquake is there a must do/get list for the great plateau you recommend?
Not at all, one of the greatest things about the game is that practically anything is replaceable, better will come along later, or can be gone back for when suits you better. I regularly return to the great plateau to fight the boss Redlambs mentions, when I'm farming for items.

The only thing you may want to pick up is the Warm Doublet from the old man, as it'll make it handier in cold areas and heights early on, but there are other ways around dealing with the cold so it's not vital.

Another tip is when the Zoras tell you to go up a mountain and kill some bad guy for shock arrows, don't trust the little shits.

I got my arse handed to me over and over!

I did win in the end though thanks to luck and alchemy, cooking and potions really make a huge difference in this game, unlike in the likes of Witcher and that, it really is done well.

You don't have to kill it, though it's worthwhile because of the great gear.

yeah same with me.

I have been scared of those guys ever since and always run away. Im guessing I have enough gear and hearts to take them on now, but still havent tried

My switch is back home, so I can only play it when I return from Uni.

Been away from Zelda since sunday.

I've never had a game dominate my every waking thought as an adult like this game has. Last time I was this enthralled with a video game was probably my early-mid teens with Halo 3, Mass effect 2, Fallout 3 etc.

Can't wait to go back home and play more.

Yeah, but you think it's a worthwhile endeavour and by the time you get up there and realise the game is fecking with you, it's too late!

Still, it makes the win all the sweeter ;)
You'll have to hunt them for parts eventually, and IIRC that's the weakest breed.

I fought a mean fecker that has a club that one-shots your shield, that was a nightmare.

I thought they made it quite clear you weren't expected kill it. That whole encounter was set up as a stealth sequence. There's enough rock cover there for you to sneak around and they even put you behind a rock at the start of the sequence.

Kid already got that..so all good

Despite being a massive Nintendo nerd for practically my whole gaming life, and trying out multiple Zelda games, I could just never get into them. Until now. I've still only just left the tutorial area and did the Gliding Shrine, but I'm just overwhelmed by this game. It really is outstanding and I think we can all appreciate Nintendo taking the extra time to get it right now!

Yeah, you could just get the arrows from the trees. Not stupid me though, I did that then went at him. Then when he stamped me once and I died, I was determined

I only had 4 hearts and the stealth armour by that point too and every single move he did one shot me :( But I won in the end!

I have to fight them all, no way was I leaving without mashing it up.
