Gaming The Legend of Zelda | Earthquake: "It's actually ridiculously good, and keeps getting better." ★★★★★

You can never have enough arrows, to be fair, probably the most important item in the game.
This. They're pretty hard to come by at times and buying them is not really an option as rupees are even harder to come by.

It's not so so bad when you get to stores that have bundles of 10 in stock, they sell for a good price.

It's just when you're relying on Beedle for supplies, the price-gouging bastard.

I found the korok forest a couple days back so ive had the sudden desire to get lots and lots of heart containers for no particular reason :)

Hung out with the shieldbreaker knights who were out on the side of a hill looking sullen and like, totally not interested dude, for some shield surfing.

Found a horse race or two and basically ended up doing shit all shrines despite that being the my current aim.

Found a weird temple that needs a ... farosh scale (?) too, think it might be from one of them dragons that are knocking about.

Found a few memories too.

The sun has made a few appearances briefly.
I killed the lynel too - any hearty food makes life easier, not getting one shot helps.

Oh indeed. I just didn't need to bother going up the mountain, I thought I'd have to work hard to open Ruta.

I don't know, I've not had any problems buying shops out of stock. I'm still very early in the game and I have close to 200 normal arrows, and loads of ice/fire/shock.

Arrow fighting is awesome though, I love it when you fight an enemy with any kind of fire weapon and they accidentally start one and you can fly up and use the slo-mo

I just never have enough rupees to buy them. There are so many gear sets and stuff that I do be saving up to buy as I want them all, and then after I buy them there's something else I need to save for.

I like that it's like that though. Much better than having a wallet limit and having endless rupees drop off every mob. Makes them feel more valuable.

Very much agreed. I've not really been saving though, it seems easy enough to find things to sell. Though I've not yet bought much armour, only the stealth set (which doesn't seem to be amazingly better for stealth anyway).

I expected a much bigger challenge too, hell probably the hardest part of the entire questline was fighting the Lynel, which was optional.

Definitely. The boss was ok, but thunder arrows soon sorted him out. The dungeon design was pretty cool though, if way too short.

I found it helps, but i only ever equip one piece really (more seems redundant to me)
There's just a good few mobs you have to move at about half sneak speed to get a sneak attack on,
equipping one piece means you can move at full speed while sneaking (its nice for horse taming too)

I haven't had too many money problems. I have hundreds of bokoblin horns that i sell every so often.
Usually have a decent stock of stronger monster parts for any elixirs i want to cook

Paddys day. No work

Wife gone to work

Youngest child with grandparents

Older child does his own thing

Game completed

Over 70 hours:(

It gives you a checklist of what's done and what's left which is great

Shrine quests - 21 out of 42
Side quests - 54 out of 76
Found All memories
80 out of 120 shrines

Percentage complete shockingly only 19.43%. Looked it up and turns out those stupid korak seeds are counted. I got about 40 out of 900

Haven't played the game yet but I've heard

Once you collect all 900, the game will award you with (And I'm not making this up)a piece of shite. Essentially it's a joke quest which ends in the game laughing at you.

Can you continue on after finishing it or do you need to load an earlier save / restart?

:lol::lol: That surely isn't true, is it?

I've got so much time for games doing shit like that

You can only use like 440-450 of them before all your slots are maxed out too!

They put you back at your final save before last boss

But they put a star next to your file to indicate you have completed and as I was saying some completion stats show up too

I've just thrown a useless metal sword near an enemy camp, which missed. So I figured I'd fire a few arrows out, forgetting I had thunder arrows equipped.

Wowzer, the physics engine really is so open in this, one must have hit the sword and it was like my own mini lightning strike.

I most definitely will be playing around with this!

Reminds me of this one shrine.
You have to move electric boxes about, but half way through there's a fight with three guardians. I noticed they were on a metal surface, went back and got the electric box from the last puzzle and chucked it on the grid, fried all three! This game is genius. Pretty much anything you can think of is possible.

yeah but the weapons break so 7/10

I am surprised more people didn't have an issue with that

If I had known not only do they break but last about 2 mins if you are lucky before playing the game I would have thought it was a huge problem

Actually, my problem with weapons is that I have way too many awesome ones. They break, but there are so many chucked at you all the time, not to mention you can farm Guardian gear off the Major Test Of Strength shrines, and there are a bunch of spawn points for really good weapons to find.

Did you buy and upgrade your house?

They allow you to keep a whopping 3 of each weapon and shield to store. And I discovered just dropping your weapons on the floor does not keep them. They disappear soon afterwards

You find more weapons in the world than you can use!

Every enemy drops their weapons, and there are more either laying around in the world or to be discovered in chests etc.

It's a very well balanced system

I did! I have a couple of the special weapons kept there.

I'm surprised so many people tried this.

Sounds like the game is great for the adventure feeling, but shit for inventory management & the weapon durability system is so shit that it manages to be a turnoff...
No wonder some gave it 7/10-9/10 instead of perfect scores. :/

Still, might pick it up sometime in the future when private people sell their consoles for cheap on facebook.

Edit for the important question i actually forgot:
Do you guys think they'll increase weapon durability?! Surely it cannot stay this bad?

Doubt they will fix it. They have all their perfect scores and Nintendo stubborness to fall back on.

I got to a boss last week and haven't played it since. Figured I was just going to end up breaking all my weapons on him and turned it off. It's a ridiculously shite system no matter how many weapons they throw at you.

"Here's your reward for exploring or defeating that enemy!" Ten minutes later it's gone and you're back to hoping the much worse sword you had been using lasts a while.

It's not shit for weapon of inventory management

You must have been reading some proper negative sites if you think it's something that needs fixing asap. It doesn't, at all!

I'm not really one for weapons degrading in general, most of the time it's pointless. But in this is has a specific purpose, to make you use and master every type of weapon and realise all the cool stuff you can do with them. I get the feeling most of the negativity comes from people either not playing the game and guessing or not understanding that.

Ffs, you find weapons, shields and bows literally everywhere! And the moment you lose the latest badass sword you found, you find another even more badass one. It's not a broken system, it's very balanced. fecking modern gamers

You turned it off without even trying the boss and refused to play it since?

Yup, I'm really enjoying switching between clubs, greatswords, broadswords and spears, and discovering how to get the best out of each.

Jim Sterling and some other randomers who didn't get an early review copy gave the game a 7/10, in an attempt to be relevant since the market was flooded with positive reviews early on.

The main points raised were about weapon durability and the weather system (rain making it difficult to climb) being frustrating.

Of course he couldn't figure out;

a) you get better weapons all the time so treat the weapons as disposable items and use your worst weapons first unless you need to use your better ones
b) you can use the environment to your advantage- explosive barrels, bees, stealth attacks (the rain makes it easier to infiltrate enemy camps)
c) that the weather forecast lets you know when it will rain and you can camp to wait if you want to climb up a mountain..
