Gaming The Legend of Zelda | Earthquake: "It's actually ridiculously good, and keeps getting better." ★★★★★

Has anyone else tried playing this with the joycons in each hand? It really makes aiming the bow so much better.

Also I'm totally ruling at finding these Korok things :)
You bought a switch just for this? I'd like to try this game but can't buy a new console just for this game. Already got a ps4.

Been running around look for a torch for about 2 hours now, no exaggeration. I must have dropped about a dozen of them early on as well.

Ugh I want to get the switch for this and the new super mario so badly. Cant justify spending that money for 2 games though ($400 for the system and $80 per game...). Maybe a year from now when they all go down in price. Havent had a nintendo system in ages, since the normal wii, and miss it to be honest. Might settle for watching videos on it but feck I want it

Well obviously not just for this, but yes I got one and I'm really happy with it so far. It's a really cool system and once again clearly not designed to compete with the home consoles, it's really a handheld machine you can dock with the tv. It works superbly actually, but obviously we need more games.

Though, again, since it's also replacing the 3DS long term and that was very well supported, I expect much better support than the Wii-U ever had. But we shall see.

I've spent ages chasing frogs for elixers, then managing to ruin every single one I tried.

Also I discovered you can attach bombs to balloons and float them over enemy camps with the giant leaf things

The best thing I did today though was finding a huge metal door and taking it all the way to the nearest bokoblin camp and using it in as many creative ways as possible to feck them up :D

Cool horse location with max strength:

 I made this mistake too. I always keep one in my inventory now.

Ideally you'd want to keep an axe, a kokri leaf(or whatever it's called), a hammer and a torch in your inventory at all times, but man, you need every space available, I've expanded a few and I'm still constantly short of space.

I've just been using bombs in place of the hammer.
Usually have a few bokoblin weapons that i can set fire to too.
Handy at the start of the game when space is limited.

Gah, I can't find any bee honey anywhere for the cooking quest in Kakariko Village

Hmmm. It's probably not for me. I can't think of enough Nintendo games I'd like that would justify this as a second console to have. It does sound like a cool device I have to say in terms of the hardware with being combination between handheld (which reminds of game gear days!) and a home console. But like I said, software is why I won't go for it. Shame I'll miss out on this Zelda. Much rather play it than horizon even though I do want to play the latter too.

Just wait for it to come down in price, it really is great so far though. Shame about missing out on Zelda too, it's a genuinely outstanding game.

It's simply stunning the scale and the way you can literally go anywhere and climb anything, and typically Nintendo you are always rewarded if you look hard enough! Fears of the world being empty and not enough to do, are thankfully wrong.

 It's ridiculous the amount of things you can do so missing the simple stuff isn't as silly as one would think!

I've been stalking crickets now and attaching balloons to things. Still keep screwing up my elixers though, I think I'm trying to be too clever

The bombs are best, but sometimes they launch the prize off the side of a mountain. Bombs should be first option whenever possible to preserve weapons.
Or just whack the smaller trees and get branches.
Sometimes the branches burn up too quickly. I was at one point where I had to light a bunch of stuff in a row and the sticks wouldn't last, so I ended up lighting the first point, then pulling out my bow and lighting an arrow, getting half way to the next point then shooting it, run up, light arrow, walk towards next point, shoot. Amount of feckery. Though I do like that there are usually multiple ways out of every situation.

What are you all investing in, hearts or stamina? Only have 6 hearts and two stamina upgrades.

I've played for hours and havent gotten far at all in the game. I managed to finally get to the very top of the map earlier, opening up checkpoints which no doubt I will thank myself for later

I've only completed 9 shrines. First time I went for the extra heart, but then I took stamina and I'm probably going to take 2 more stamina again before taking another heart. There are a lot of places where it gets really awkward to climb due to lack of stamina and I'm not really dying much to damage from mobs.

I have 9 hearts total and 5 extra stamina(making 2 full circles), probably going to put more into hearts next.

Whoops, I've forgotten to upgrade, still have just the 3 hearts and 1 stamina upgrade

On the plus side, I have some awesome samurai sword that does something like 32 damage! I haven't even been to the first village yet.

My mate has this and I went round last night for a few hours. Blown away. Really haven't felt the same about a game since OoT/Mario 64. Know what I'm saving my pennies for now...

I've been winning big in the bookies the last few weeks and I'm tempted to get this, one thing is bothering me though and it bugs in me in all games that feature it; do all weapons break? Even weapon degradation gets on my tits in The Witcher 3 and other games that feature it.

Yep, all weapons and shields break very quickly

You could get days alone out of watching the monsters.

I was fighting 3 skeleton versions of that big thing earlier, and knocked all their heads off, chucking 2 of them off a cliff, then spent ages rolling the last head about as all three bodies chased it. Or you can find bokoblins chasing and hunting animals themselves. Another time I distracted a bokboblin by dropping fruit near it when it couldn't see me, while it was eating the fruit I sneaked up behind and one shot it and got my fruit back.

Seriously, best game in I don't know how long.

Reckon when I get it I'll end up spending most of the time exploring and fecking with enemies.
