The First Redcafe Sheep Draft

Agreed, I would have been really chuffed with O'Shea. A sheep by all accounts relative to the quality on offer, but when we are all scraping the barrel further down the line he would be immense

I'll probably wind up picking him anyway, I love Sheasy and he gets way too much stick.

"Wes Brown to Madrid", love it.

Indeed. Sheasy is a legend. Also scored that semi-final first leg goal to beat Arsenal. And megged a player or two in his time...

Probably the exit which most hurt in the last few years, and that includes HIM as he didn't want to be here anyway.

That celebration is hilarious though. Never get tired of it.

Super little assist from my man Scholesy, too.

Thats what makes it so funny though. The way he initially holds his hands up is as if to say "yeah, I'm the fecking man" ...Looks across to the bench where everyone is pissing themselves... and remembers he's JOS and isn't suppose to score cheeky goals like that.

He then decides to go on that little jog

What a sweet win that was. The whole Keane Vieira tunnel bust up night, i think?

@AldoPaine18

Wait... What's this noon start time? Noon GMT is 8pm here. So the 1st pick ends 8pm the next day. The 2nd and 3rd picks end 8 am the next day, which give me 12 hours overnight to choose 2 picks. Again after 8am, I get nothing to do till the next draft starts at 8pm, except some research if you announce the criteria. Not optimal dude, not optimal!

Can you move the timings 3-4 hours earlier, if you plan on 12 hours?

I'm ok with the Djemba twins then.. Heskey would be a stud though.

It's a 12 hour window for your 2nd pick if required (for you 8pm to 8am), and another 12 hours (for you 8am to 8pm) to make your 3rd if required.

24-12-12

You are not getting it right. 8PM-8PM for the first attempt, which should be fine.

Second attempt runs from 8PM to 8AM, which you should be able to vote for.

Third attempt runs from 8AM to 8PM, which you should be fine with logging any time before 8PM to find out if you still need to make a pick.

IF all votes are in then the 2nd attempt result is revealed early so that people don't get all antsy, but the deadline for the third and final attempt is still 8PM so you should be able to make it, no probs. The earlier you do the better as everyone will be cursing you for leaving them in limbo.

It's viable, so long as you can be here half an hour before and after 8PM every day you can meet all the deadlines easily.

 You mean he is not actually that bad a player? I would agree, one fo those drafts Aldo mentioned had him as a sheep, then people were moaning he was actually quite handy as things wore on. I just don't want him anywhere near my side, if I'm going to play sheep I'll play sheep I can have some fun with. I refuse to make a case for a dipper.

Rui Costa, underrated?

Massively, it doesn't help that people can't quite make up their minds which one they prefer so if you play him behind the striker some prefer him in midfield, and viceversa. One of those "can't win" players, unless you really build a good case for the one you are playing, your formation and partners (the striker in particular) will have a say in that.

I remember playing against him in my first draft game and the other manager just kept switching him between midfield and a more advanced role as and when he got feedback, and wound up alienating both parties!

Had Rui Costa in the CL draft as he is one of my favourite players. He did not get me the votes I was hoping for. Shame.

I'd love to have seen your team with no doubt a wonderfully crafted 10 and then Heskey leadin the line upfront

He did score goals, at least at some point in his career, which is why I don't think he is sheep material.

Much much better if HE gets picked tonight and I send the Djemba twins on a man-marking mission. That would be fun.

Damn. I thought he was as good as Laudrup!

Rui Costa? Wouldn't say he's that good. But a sublime player non the less.

Link him up with a certain someone and you have my vote! :D

Out of interest, the player a few of you were talking about as being the diamond of the first round but hard to build a side around, was this Laudrup you were on about?

Oh, never - I'm a gentleman. And I don't really think people will be very impressed with my pick. I'd rather try to play that down, to be honest. But I do think someone else has caught himself a prize fish here.

In response to this, no one has really comented on the most surprising pick of the round.

Albertini was a fine player & a good pick imo (albeit a safe one.) Keep those kind of picks going and avoid a sheep altogether and you will be tough to beat.

Its going to be interesting to see what kind of team you're building.

I wasn't referring to Laudrup with the poisoned chalice thing, clearly. Love him to bits and he has served me well in the past.

Exactly, you could talk about the young Heskey at Leicester.

I was positive he had picked someone else so dropped him as an option. I hope he is going for his favoured striker tonight or I'll get "already picked" in the second attempt!

@Edgar Allan Pillow Rui Costa as good as Laudrup? come on mate don't push it. I had Rui a couple of drafts and he didn't get enough recognition I agree he was marvelous and underrated but Laudrup is top 5-6 players in history!

Were you guys actually referring to Laudrup as the diamond guy? I always feel he's better suited for a 4-2-3-1, but he is versatile enough to play both, I would even consider playing him in a 4-3-3 either as AM or RW inside forward. Depends on the rest of the draft

Quite a big statement. An incredible player but he's not THAT good.

Although I did once speak to Sky's so called Spanish expert Graham Hunter who claimed something similar. He said Laudrup was like ****** but with pace. The player he refered to is often considered one of the best players in modern times.

If VivaJanuzaj means top 5-6 in the era restriction for the draft then he is not far off at least! Even if it doesn't necessarily comply with my own opinion of it.

He was better than ******, no doubt in my mind and yes, he is right up there with the very best. The only caveat I'd make is you really have to build a side around him, one that will make the most out of having him there. He wasn't one to take a game by the scruff of the neck, very few such players were that sort, which is what made Maradona all the more remarkable.
